(Appendix 1A) Translation from Appendix 1 (Appendix 1A) Translation from Appendix 1 4.1 The negotiations and other developments on the territorial issue of the Cyprus problem. I will start with the issue that arose concerning reimbursement of Larnaca Lapithou vilage under G / C command. The return of the community Larnaca Lapithou under G / C management was considered for granted, as it was included in all of Cyprus settlement plans prepared by the UN and this plan was accepted by the T / C at the referendum of 2004. On June 21, 2015, we had some information that during the last negotiations it has been agreed in complete secrecy to exclude the return of the villages of Larnaca Lapithou, Agridaki, Sysklipos and St. Ermolaos. Immediately the community of Larnaca Lapithou was mobilized and had meetings with Government Officials and Party Leaders demanding, in vain, their various return under G / C command. This mobilization of the community of Larnaka Lapithou demanding their return, caused a strong reaction from the Municipality of Kythreas and the Coordinating Committee of the wider region Kythreas, as expressed in their relevant publication in the newspaper Phileleftheros on 08.11.2015, "APPENDIX 3 and 3A '[the letters, clarifications, comments and related publications on the subject are in My file, the folder "Recent letters for the return of Larnaca Lapithou']. With this development, indications were given that they were behind the conspiracy, to prevent the return of Larnaca Lapithou and the surrounding area, indulging in favoritism obtained in support from political and / or religious leaders, to achieve their sinister objectives. It seems that when negotiations started on the territorial issue, our leadership rushed to concede to the exclusion of the return of Larnaca Lapithou and the wider region, in exchange for the return of other regions as requested by Kythrea. What could not be achieved by Turkey before the referendum, because of the persistence of the United Nations, our Leadership rushed to offer, voluntarily and effortlessly, for the region of Larnaca Lapithou to stay under T / C command for a second time? The first time was in 1976, when our Leadership delivered the map with the regions they proposed to stay under T / C command and which included all the villages of Kyrenia District. So the citizens of our region were renounced twice by our own "Leadership" voluntarily and effortlessly..Who gave you the right to deprive us from the return to our ancestral homes, especially the second time when this was managed after the long struggle of the people of Kyrenia District? Now we are told that it is difficult to obtain the return of our region in G / C command. But when you offered voluntarily to Turkey what they did not manage to achieve with their own efforts, you expect that it will be easy to rectify? Ealo the Larnaca Lapithou, ealo the temple of Narnakiou Neptune, ealo the dedications to the goddess Athena for the battles conducted in the region between troops of Ptolemy and Antigonus, ealo the monastery of Our Lady of clean, Saint Dimitrianos, ealo religious and cultural our heritage ealo the herritage, the struggles and sacrifices of our ancestors, ealo the sacrifices of Stelios Mavromatis and Evagoras Pallikarides, whose soul and spirit are deeply rooted in their origin in Larnaca Lapithou. How can you gentlemen handle our national issues with such frivolity? These Free Union Associations, presenting themselves as representatives of all provincial refugees of the region specified by their names, are actually a creation of Circuit establishment to trap and control the voice of refugees [see related comments by Alecos Constantinides, for unenslaved freedom clubs in the newspaper. "ALETHIA" of 25 and 26 August 1990, photocopies pp. 211 & 212 of the attached file,].Now they crawl after religious and political Leaders to ensure by favoritism the return of refugees in their region. If you think that the struggle for the return and restoration of the rights of refugees is conducted behind the scenes of the networked establishment with (Μέσο) and favoritism, then this is a terrible predicament of our state and our society. The Kyrenia people succeeded to extricate their voice from the networked establishment and conducted a genuine and teamed struggle, for the problems of the invasion to be presented inside and outside our borders and demand the vindication of our people and the return to our homes. Details about the struggle of Keryneioton can be obtained from the files or from the USB which contains written material, photographs, recordings, videos e.t.c. which are kept in the offices of the Metropolis of Kyrenia. It seems that this struggle of Keryneioton was valued by the International Community and as a result, nine villages in our province were included in all UN plans to return under G/C command. You gentlemen, who gave you the right to obstruct our Return? You have every right to follow the path you choose, but you have no right to intervene in the struggles of Keryneioton and obstruct their return. We were told that if information is given about the territorial issue, it will cause civil war. If the aforementioned worries and concerns are verified, and the content of the new agreement, instead of being based on principles and values, will contain the element of unfair treatment and favoritism, then what should you expect? If you sacrifice the return of this historic area of Larnaca Lapithou, with the significant geographical value it contains, in order to secure some coastal areas where businessmen would rush to take advantage of, then what is this solution? Unfortunately all this is evidence that we are not negotiating with due responsibility for ensuring a fair and honorable settlement. .

  • 1 Memorandum Ownership Status of Hotels and Other
MEMORANDUM OWNERSHIP STATUS OF HOTELS AND OTHER ACCOMODATION FACILITIES IN THE OCCUPIED PART OF THE REPUBLIC OF CYPRUS The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus hereby publishes a list1 of hotels situated in the Turkish occupied part of Cyprus. The majority of these hotels belong to Greek Cypriot displaced persons who were forced to leave their properties following the Turkish invasion of 1974 or have been built illegally on properties belonging to displaced Greek Cypriots, in violation of the latter’s property rights and without their consent. A number of hotels belong to Turkish Cypriots or have been built on land belonging to Turkish Cypriots. The European Court of Human Rights, in its Judgment of 18 December 1996, on the individual application of the Greek Cypriot displaced owner from Kyrenia, Mrs. Titina Loizidou, against Turkey, and in the Fourth Interstate Application of Cyprus against Turkey of 10 May 2001, upheld the rights of the refugees to their properties. In the Loizidou case, the Court ordered the Government of Turkey to compensate the applicant for the time period of deprivation of use of her property and to provide full access and allow peaceful enjoyment of her property in Kyrenia. The right of the displaced owners to their properties was reconfirmed in the decision of the European Court of Human Rights (Dec. 2005) regarding the application of Myra Xenides- Arestis v. Turkey, and has since been repeatedly reconfirmed in a multitude of cases brought by Greek Cypriot owners of property in the occupied part of Cyprus against Turkey]. It should also be reminded that, according to the United Nations Principles on Housing and Property Restitution for Refugees and Displaced Persons (the Pinheiro principles) “all refugees and displaced persons have the right to have restored to them any housing, land or property of which they were arbitrarily or unlawfully deprived..”.

  • Leishmaniasis in Northern Cyprus
European Journal of Therapeutics DOI: 10.5152/EurJTher.2019.18077 Review Leishmaniasis in Northern Cyprus Emrah Ruh1 , Ayşegül Taylan Özkan1,2 1Department of Medical Microbiology and Clinical Microbiology, Near East University School of Medicine, Nicosia, Northern Cyprus 2Department of Medical Microbiology, Hitit University School of Medicine, Çorum, Turkey ABSTRACT Leishmaniasis is a vector-borne disease that is caused by Leishmania parasites. Sandflies are the vectors, and dogs are the primary reservoir of Leishmania spp. Cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) is the most common form of the disease, whereas visceral leishmaniasis (VL) is the most severe form and is generally fatal if left untreated. The disease is seen in 98 countries and distributed through three regions on five continents. The island of Cyprus is located in the eastern part of the Mediterranean region where leishmaniasis is endemic. The presence of sandflies, canine leishmaniasis (CanL), and human VL and CL cases has been documented in Northern and Southern Cyprus. CanL cases were found at various rates between 1.9% and 13.2% in Northern Cyprus. In 1990, Leishmanin skin test positivity was detected in Northern Cyprus, and Leishmania infantum was found to be the infecting agent. In 2016, three pediatric VL cases caused by L. infantum were reported in Northern Cyprus. More recently, in a study conducted in Kyrenia District, three seropositive individuals have been detected. In the study, seven individuals, including the seropositive persons, were found to have a history of CL. Consequently, these studies indicate the presence of leishmaniasis in Northern Cyprus. Therefore, vector and reservoir control programs should be implemented for prevention of the disease.

Press Release “The Religious Heritage of Cyprus” on Website 2 August 2021 The Office of the Religious Track of the Cyprus Peace Process under the Auspices of the Embassy of Sweden (RTCYPP) and Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) Cyprus announce the launch of “The Religious Heritage of Cyprus” website https://www.cyreligiousheritage.org/ The website contains an interactive map with Christian and Muslim places of worship and cemeteries, including photos and background information, starting with the districts of Larnaca and Kyrenia followed by the district of Nicosia, coming soon. Presented in a simple, descriptive, and impartial way, it allows everyone interested to witness the current status of the religious heritage of the island and learn more about it. From the very beginning of the RTCYPP, the Religious Leaders have advocated for the right to freedom of religion or belief and the protection of the shared religious heritage of Cyprus including free access to all sacred spaces to restore, renovate and worship. Since 2011, they have worked together to promote the universal values of religious freedom and invited others to join them. The website, launched today, is part of the Religious Heritage of Cyprus project begun in 2019 headed by Dr Thorsten Kruse from the University of Münster in Germany, endorsed by the Religious Leaders of Cyprus and supported by the Office of RTCYPP. The result was the first ever research publication where Christian and Muslim religious monuments and cemeteries appear side by side, called “The Religious Heritage of Cyprus - a Survey in the Districts of Kyrenia and Larnaca”, mapping out Christian monuments and sites in the Kyrenia district and Muslim monuments and sites in the Larnaca District; funded by the Human Rights Fund of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands and supported onsite by the Embassy of the Netherlands in Nicosia.

PERMANENT MISSION OF THE REPUBLIC OF CYPRUS TO THE UNITED NATIONS BZO SECOND AVENUE NEW YORK, N. Y. IOOI7 Ref: 2002/77/2 Excellency, I have the honour to refer to the decision of the President of Cyprus, Mr. Kyprianou, to visit during this month the Greek Cypriot citizens of the Republic in the occupied area of Karpass. This decision, together with a request that the necessary facilities might be provided by the United Nations, was communicated yesterday to your Special Representative, Ambassador Galindo Pohl, who undertook to communicate with the Secretary-General on the subject. Sub- sequently, Ambassador Pohl informed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that Mr. Denktash places conditions for such visit, to the effect that a letter by the President of the Republic should be addressed to him as President of the so-called "Turkish Federated State of Cyprus", or that a meeting between them be arranged to discuss the matter. The President has the legitimate and fundamental right to visit citizens of the Republic in any part of the territory, particularly when, as in this case, the visit is motivated purely by humanitarian reasons, having regard to the situation of the Greek Cypriot citizens in the Karpass.

Distr, SECURITY GENERAL s/11459 COUNCIL 19 August 1974 ORIGINAL: ENGLISH LETTER DATED 18 AUGUST 1974 FROM THE PERMANENTREPRESENTATIVE OF GREECE TO THE UNITED NATIONS ADDRESSEDTO THE SECRETARY-GENERAL The Government of Turkey officially announced acceptance of the cease-fire in Cyprus called by Security Council resolutions 353 (19741, 354 (1974), 355 (1974), 357 (1974), 358 (1974) and 359 (1974). The cease-fire was to be effective at 1200 Cyprus time, Friday, 16 August 1974. The Government of Cyprus accepted this cease-fire by an official announcement of its Acting President, Mr. G. Clerides. In the course of 27 days it was the third time the Turkish Government was accepting a cease-fire called by the Security Council, only to violate it. In spite of the fact that this last Turkish announcement was accompanied by a declaration of the Turkish Prime Minister according to which "all Turkish military goals on the island have already been achieved", new fighting erupted today and new Turkish advances are reported in the island. In view of this chronic situation, I thought it advisable to procure the Council, through Your Excellency, with a compound list of Turkish violations since the first cease-fire was accepted by the Turkish Government, effective 22 July, at 1400 hou&-s Greenwich time, two days after the Security Council called for it: -Violations after the cease-fire of 22 July 1974 22 July: At 4.4.5 ~.m.
