10 ALUMNI FAMILY OF SAINTS Class of 2001 Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees

Alumni Council It is the responsibility of a school’s alumni to make the diplomas awarded this year more valuable and prestigious than our own.

I heard this many years ago while working on my college alumni association board of directors. We were conducting a search for our new director and one of the candidates said this and it struck a chord. He went on to say that it is Legacy Night the way alumni get involved in their city, their business, their neighborhood, their school and the like that creates the mystique of a school’s alumni.

The St. Paul’s Alumni Council is indeed enhancing the value of this year’s diplomas. Our goals are very simple: Quality, sincere, and unique opportunities to engage our alumni. We want them to know that as an alumnus they are connected by a special common thread and that we are interested in learning about them, and in them learning about us. We are designing events and new methods of outreach to achieve those goals and have begun this academic year with our new signature event: the Alumni Council’s All-Alumni Homecoming. Open to all alumni prior to the homecoming football game, hundreds of SPS alumni gathered for dinner and reconnected with old friends. It was a greater success than any of us had anticipated and you can expect more of the same next year.

The best part is that we’re just warming up. Upcoming is a holiday party, fundraisers, educational sessions for parents and young alums, and more. How about a photography class one evening for SPS alumni? Or a 529 Plan primer Alumni Tailgate delivered for alumni? Or a wine tasting? Or a cooking class? Our committee’s excitement is outstripping our ability to execute so many quality ideas. Furthermore, the quality of the SPS faculty and the number of distinguished and prestigious alumni gives us many options.

Your Alumni Council is an excited group of people working hard to increase the value of the diplomas awarded this year. Expect a lot of new ideas from us and, please, join us for some fun.
