Chinoy’s met the following: Member of the Diet Mr Yasutaka Nakasone and exchanged views on the scope and potential of India-Japan Relations. Mr Yasutaka shared keenness to contribute to growing bilateral ties across the spectrum & promote exchange of young parliamentarians. (9 April) Member of the Diet Ms. Karen Makishima and exchanged views on India-Japan relations including high-level visits, burgeoning economic ties, defense & space cooperation, yoga and parliamentary exchanges. (9 April) Senior representatives of Sumitomo Forestry at the Embassy, including Chairman of its Management Board, Mr. Ryu Yano, and they discussed the company's business operations and future roadmap in India. (11 April) A 17-member business delegation from Gujarat Chambers of Commerce & Industry (GCCI) and they had fruitful discussion on SME support, Chemicals & Pharmaceutical sectors, and semiconductors. The Embassy also organized business-matching meetings for the delegation. (11 April) Member of the Diet and former METI Minister Ms. Yuko Obuchi and they exchanged views on India-Japan cooperation in diverse fields. (13 April) Mr. Anupam Srivastava, CMD, BSNL during his visit to Tokyo to sign a new partnership agreement with NTT Japan and other cooperation projects. (13 April) Mr. Sanjeeva Kumar, Additional Secretary (Health), MoHFW, GoI in Tokyo. Mr. Kumar participated at Global Summit on Patient Safety 2018 which was held in Tokyo. Mr. Kumar accompanied by Embassy officials also met Mr. Hiroto Izumi, Special Advisor to PM Abe to discuss India-Japan health cooperation under Japan’s Asia Health and Wellbeing Initiative (AHWIN). (13-14 April) A 15 member delegation of Young Presidents Organization at the Embassy and addressed them on India-Japan bilateral relations and the potential areas of further cooperation – disaster risk reduction, healthcare, digital partnership and infrastructure. Ambassador also emphasized on Embassy’s role in active outreach to both Indian and Japanese companies for facilitating further economic activity. (16 April) Member of Parliament and Special Advisor to PM Mr. Kentaro Sonoura who had recently attended the Raisina Dialogue 2018 and they exchanged views on promoting the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership. (23 April) Chairman and CEO of Minebea Mitsumi Corp., a market leader in high precision machinery that intends to scale up investments in India. They discussed opportunities in smart cities, aerospace, electronics, artificial intelligence and automotives. (23 April) 3 Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary & Deputy NSA Mr. Nobukatsu Kanehara and other officials from the National Security Secretariat and they exchanged views on promoting the India-Japan partnership. (24 April) Mr Keshav Chandra, Joint Secretary in Logistics division of Ministry of Commerce, India and they exchanged views on engagement with diverse players in Japan’s logistics sector and discussed the scope of strengthening bilateral cooperation. (25 April) Member of Parliament Mr. Kiyoto Tsuji and they discussed ways to promote India and Japan’s Special Strategic and Global Partnership on the basis of shared values. (26 April) 7th Joint Working Committee of MAHSR A delegation led by Vice Chairman Niti Ayog Hon’ble Mr. Rajiv Kumar for the 7th Joint Committee Meeting of the MAHSR visited Tokyo from 1-4 April. Apart from the Joint Committee meeting with the Japanese counterparts on MAHSR, Mr. Rajiv Kumar had a working lunch with Dr. Hiroto Izumi, Special Advisor to the PM and met Mr. Tadashi Maeda, CEO and Executive Marketing Director JBIC; JICA President Shinichi Kitaoka; METI Vice-Minister for International Affairs Mr. Tadao Yanase; Mr. Tatsuya Terazawa, Director-General, Commerce and Information Policy Bureau, METI; Nippon Foundation Chairman Mr. Yohei Sasakawa; and Mr. Kazamusa Iwata, President, Japan Center for Economic Research. VC Rajiv Kumar was also hosted for dinner by Professor Masafumi Shukuri, Chairman, International High Speed Rail Association. Hanami Lunch Receptions hosted by Ambassador of India Ambassador H.E. Chinoy hosted three Hanami Lunch Receptions on April 3, 4 and 6, which were attended by FM Kono; Vice Chairman, Niti Ayog Rajiv Kumar; Chairman of the Japan-India Parliamentarians Friendship League Hiroyuki Hosoda; Chief Representative of Komeito Party Natsuo Yamaguchi; several Members of Parliament; Vice-Ministers; members of the Diplomatic Corps; Officials from Government of Japan & Japanese Business and Scientific Community. Book launch of Japanese edition of "Gandhi's Outstanding Leadership" by former Ambassador of India Pascal Alan Nazareth HIH Princess Takamado and Ambassador HE Sujan R. Chinoy released the Japanese edition (its 20th foreign edition) of "Gandhi's Outstanding Leadership" by former Ambassador of India Pascal Alan Nazareth at a well-attended event at Indian Embassy on 6 April, 2018. Visit of State Minister for Foreign Affairs to India State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Government of Japan H.E. Kazuyuki Nakane attended the 16th International Energy Forum Ministerial Meeting (IEF16) in New Delhi on 11 April, 2018 and stated Japan’s efforts to improve energy access worldwide. 4 Visit of Vice Minister (Environment) to India A large delegation of Japanese companies dealing in waste-to-energy technologies led by Mr Yasuo Takahashi, Vice Minister (Environment), Government of Japan met H.E. Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of Housing & Urban Affairs on 13 April 2018 and made presentations on adapting technologies for scientific disposal of solid waste. Exhibition: “Khadi: The Fabric of India's Tomorrow - Homage to Martand Singh” Ambassador H.E. Sujan R. Chinoy attended an exhibition titled "Khadi: The Fabric of India's Tomorrow - Homage to Martand Singh” at the prestigious 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT Gallery on 17 April, 2018. The acclaimed Japanese fashion house Issey Miyake has been engaging in collaborations with late Martand Singh since the 1980s, producing a series of clothes referred to as "a dialogue with Indian culture". The exhibition, which will run until 13 May 2018, introduces Khadi as a medium that faithfully expresses the hand of its weavers and the underlying ideas, along with footages filmed on-site in India of the people who formed the backbone of Martand Singh's activities. 2nd Bengaluru Tokyo Technology Initiative Ambassador H.E. Sujan R. Chinoy gave a keynote speech at the 2nd Bengaluru Tokyo Technology Initiative on 20 April which was attended by 200 participants from 90 Japanese companies, officials, scholars and others wherein he spoke about digital partnership between India and Japan. The event also held panel discussions on India - Japan collaboration in IT, technology and innovation. The Indian Embassy, METI and MOFA, along with 21 startups and 8 Venture capitalists from India participated in the event. Seminar on “Cross Border Transactions – Dispute Resolution in India” Ambassador H.E. Sujan R. Chinoy delivered the keynote address at the Seminar on “Cross Border Transactions – Dispute Resolution in India” on 25 April 2018 organised by the Mumbai Centre for International Arbitration, Trilegal and FTI consulting for spreading awareness on arbitration and dispute resolution in India. He underscored that this type of seminar creates awareness about enabling environment for Japanese businesses in India which adds confidence and efficiency in their operations. Inauguration of Pharmexcil’s India Pavillion at CPhl Japan Mr. Raj Srivastava, Deputy Chief of Mission visited and inaugurated Pharmexcil’s India Pavillion at CPhl Japan at the Tokyo Big Sight on 18 April 2018. The event saw participation of 60 companies in the healthcare domain from India. FIEO’s India Pavilion at IFF Magic Tokyo, Japan Fashion Mr. Raj Srivastava, Deputy Chief of Mission visited FIEO’s India Pavilion at IFF Magic Tokyo, Japan Fashion at the Tokyo Big Sight on 25 April 2018. They interacted with the participating 11 Indian companies. 5 Familiarization visit by Mr Hakubun Shimomura and his supporters and business figures HE Hakubun Shimomura, Member of the House of Representatives led a familiarization visit by his supporters and business figures to the Embassy of India on 2 April 2018. HE Hakubun Shimomura is the Chairman of the Parliamentary League for Promotion of Yoga. After some words to mark the occasion from HE Mr Shimomura, Ms Muanpuii Saiawi, Counsellor (IEC) gave a lecture introducing India and the numerous cultural ties between India and Japan.
