NAAC has provided Institution an opportunity to determine themselves in order to earmark their benchmarking for mapping the times. The Government of Gujarat has established Gujarat Forensic Sciences University in the year September, 2008 which is the first not only in the country but in the world. The Academic activities of the University started in the year 2009. The University was established to meet acute shortage of skilled manpower and experts in the field of Forensic Science. The University has established three Institutes viz: 1. Institute of Research & Development 2. Institute of Forensic Science 3. Institute of Behavioural Science “Education through Investigation”, the Gujarat Forensic Sciences University (GFSU) aims to be an international standard learning resource centre, providing excellent theoretical knowledge and advanced technical research and training, together with providing an environment of high level ethical practices, in terms of real time investigation. GFSU is a University committed to taking academics to the next level of professionalism. In this generation of excellence and specialization, we aim at achieving an education standard that is comparable to the best globally with our vision. We are committed to foster an academic environment of quality in areas of teaching and research in Forensic Science. 2 Gujarat Forensic Sciences University Knowledge – Wisdom – Fulfillment We take pleasure in submitting the Self Study Report (SSR) of our University and its Institutions for the accreditation to appraise the continuous efforts and results of our march towards excellence in the field of academics and research. In the present report we have tried our level best to meet the requirements as laid down by NAAC. The University is committed to the core value of NAAC. Since this is a unique University with specialized courses, the criterion report is submitted institute wise for easy understanding of the working and functioning of the University to the NAAC Criterion. It would not be possible to complete this self-study report without the whole-hearted support and co- operation of entire GFSU family. The main objective of the University to make the Criminal Justice Delivery System techno Savvy and it would help overcome the actual shortage of skilled manpower engaged in this field. It became functional from Feb, 2009 and was recognized by the University Grants Commission as a State University under Section 22 of the UGC Act 1956 to award degrees in May, 2011. Institute of Research & Development The Institute of Research & Development is dedicated to the discovery, development of forensic science and its application to a wide range of academic and professional areas, based on sound research work. All this and much more in a growth conducive environment that foster creativity, innovation and critical thinking amongst students and faculty. The Institute is a premier institute of Forensic Pharmacy and Nanotechnology in India that provides MS and doctoral degrees to the students encompassing the various specializations of forensic science such as Pharmaceuticals, Nanotechnology, Environmental Science and Management, Chemistry creating experts in these fields. The exclusive program recently launched by the Institute is M. Tech. Civil Engineering with Forensic Structural Engineering as special subject. 5 Gujarat Forensic Sciences University Knowledge – Wisdom – Fulfillment Institute of Forensic Science Institute of Forensic Science has been established with the sole aim of producing experts in the field of Criminal Investigation, who are armed with advanced scientific techniques. The primary and the most important vision of the Institution is to inculcate the application of various scientific disciplines for the purpose of justice delivery. The Institute has started some exclusive type of courses like MS- Homeland Security & Anti-terrorism, M. Tech Cyber Security & Incident Response, P. G. Diploma Forensic Nursing, MS Digital Forensics, M. Sc. Forensic Odontology etc. Institute of Behavioural Science Institute of Behavioural Science is a GFSU Centre for postgraduate education and research in the mind-brain domain, with central focus on criminal behaviour, forensic psychology, and clinical psychology. The courses give an opportunity to students for specializing in these areas for understanding not only the deviant behaviour and their manifestation but also equips them with techniques of coping with stress and its adverse effects. The University imparts highly specialized programme after graduation and post- graduation. Initially 5 Programs were launched in the year 2009, However looking to the acute requirements of the society around 28 highly specialized courses. Mr. Mane, who registered a police complaint after he was attacked by an unknown assailant on Sunday, withdrew his complaint on Tuesday. In the affidavit given to the Maval taluk tahsildar, Mr. Mane said two of his complaints — about being threatened and attacked — were false. "None of these incidents happened in reality. I am suffering from mental imbalance, which led me to file the complaints," is what the affidavit says, according to Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Pratap Dighavkar. On Sunday, Mr. Mane complained that he was attacked in the godown of his shoe shop early in the morning. Earlier, on December 28, 2010 he complained of having received threats, after which the local police granted him protection. Mr. Mane was following up on the applications filed by the slain RTI activist, Satish Shetty. Shetty was murdered on January 13, 2010. However, the police claim to have found 'circumstantial evidence' to show that Mr. Mane's allegation of having been attacked was false. "In both cases, there were no eyewitnesses. His servant, who had gone to fetch a newspaper while he was attacked, didn't hear any commotion." There was no indication of a scuffle, as claimed by Mane, having taken place in the godown, which is barely 3X3 feet, Mr.
