Des Moines, May 28, 2020 – On Wednesday, May 27th, KCCI raised more than $43,000 for Children & Families of Iowa (CFI) through the KCCI Project CommUNITY: Hope for Families fundraiser.

The 132-year-old organization helps children and families in abusive, toxic and traumatic situations. According to KCCI President and General Manager Brian Sather, “we partnered with CFI because we recognize the significant trials families face in light of the coronavirus crisis, as well as the organization’s current challenge in meeting those needs.”

"We are honored to have been selected by KCCI for this incredible opportunity to share the success stories of our families while raising funds needed to sustain operations," said Amy Stapp-Arpy, CFI's Chief Development Officer and Vice President of Development and Communications. " Our sincere thank you to KCCI, matching sponsor Sammons Financial Group, and all of those who generously donated during the event. As a private local nonprofit, Children & Families of Iowa depends on our community for support, every gift matters and is greatly appreciated.”

KCCI used its broadcast and digital resources to raise awareness and funds for CFI's services. KCCI ran stories of survival from clients of CFI in newscasts throughout the day. PSAs ran on all of KCCI's channels and digital platforms with information on how to give.

KCCI President and General Manager, Brian Sather said, "Our whole team at KCCI is proud to have shined a light on the need for the crucial work of Children & Families of Iowa.
