Kemer Kemer is a seaside resort and district of Antalya Province on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey, 40 km (25 mil) west of the city of Antalya, on the Turkish Riviera. Kemer is on the Gulf of Antalya, 53 km (33 mi) of sea coast with the skirts of the western Taurus Mountains behind. The coast has the typical Mediterranean hot, dry weather and warm sea. Until the early 1980s this was a quiet rural district but today the town of Kemer and coastal villages in the district play a very important part in tourism in Turkey. Tourism in Kemer One of the major attractions of Kemer is its natural beauty; sea, mountains and pine forest combine in harmony. The shore from Beldibi to Tekirova consists of unspoilt beaches in bays of various sizes, mostly stony rather than sand. With easy transportation, good communication and other municipal services Kemer has a large proportion of the hotel bed capacity of the Antalya region, and is a comfortable and peaceful holiday coast with internationally accepted reputation, attracting large numbers of visitors from countries such as Germany, the Netherlands, and in recent years predominantly families from Russia.

Golf in Antalya Golf in Belek Belek, one of Antalya’s most popular holiday centres, has become not only a brand name in Turkey, but one of the most popular holiday destinations in the world thanks to its unsurpassed natural beauty and perfect climate. Located 30 kilometers from Antalya, Belek has a seventeen-kilometer coastline lined with numerous five star hotels. Since the early 1990s, Belek has offered its guests the most comfortable holiday opportunity in the Mediterranean. Among the features that make Belek such an attractive location in the region is its ease of access and the ancient cities situated nearby. The region hosted numerous civilisations throughout its thousands of years of history, and with its fertile lands has been a centre of attention in every period. Though Belek has a typical Mediterranean climate, the freshwater streams which flow from the slopes of the Taurus Mountains give it different characteristics than other Mediterranean locations. Thanks to its large sand dunes, its beaches are sheltered from the harsh effects of the sea and wind. With all these features in place, Belek offers a magnificent atmosphere, not only as a tourism centre, but as an area that contains all the distinctive Mediterranean characteristics. For many years now, Belek has been one of the foremost holiday destinations for sports tourism in our country. It owes its preeminent position in this regard to its climate, geographical location and undeniably to its committed implementation of sustainable tourism policies. Belek and its hotels are highly popular with sports clubs and cater to their needs across all sports year-round.

  • Alternative Tourism Activities for the Riviera of Turkey(Akseki̇)
International Symposium on Geography Environment and Culture in the Mediterranean Region Alternative Tourism Activities For the Riviera of Turkey (AKSEK İ) Ihsan Bulut, Mehmet Zaman and Halil Hadimli Introduction Places where coastal tourism develops are called ‘rivieras,’ which means ‘coast’ in Italian 1. Globally, the most popular rivieras are the French, Italian and Spanish Rivieras in the western Mediterranean Basin . In terms of when they developed, these rivieras came first, and tourists from middle and northern Europe have for years enjoyed the sea, sand and sun of the French, Italian and Spanish Rivieras. The Turkish Riviera has recently been added to the rivieras of the Mediterranean Basin. The Turkish Riviera has some advantages, and has attracted large numbers of visitors since the 1990s. Advantages include the unspoiled natural beauty of the coastline, and the relatively cheaper costs . These have been factors in the growth of tourism in Mediterranean Turkey. On the other hand, important disadvantages of the Turkish tourist industry are its insufficiency of tourism activities , as well as , a lack of variety. Another problem is that a significant number of people in Turkey do not – for cultural reasons – support tourism activities. There is also a lack of specialization in tourism by many in the work-force who seek employment in the industry, a major proportion of Turkey’s labor force is uneducated, and many unqualified workers apply for employment in the tourism industry. As the western Mediterranean Basin will lose its prominent position in tourism over time, especially due to the effect of global warming, Turkey and other countries in the eastern Mediterranean will be in a position to develop new tourism opportunities.

There are lots of restaurants and small hotels (£20 a night or less), but it's worth a stroll around even if you don't stay. Kaleiçi is the old town of Antalya, where you can admire the mixture of Roman and Ottoman architecture. Upon entering the old town, you pass Hadrian’s Gate, the triple arch that guards the entrance to the old town and was built in the 2nd century. Historical Places Information 1. Perge Perge was an ancient and important city of Pamphylia, between the rivers Catarrhactes and Cestrus (Turkish Aksu Çayı). A treaty between the Hittite Great King Tudhaliya IV and his vassal, the king of Tarhuntassa, defined the latter's western border at the city "Parha" and the "Kastaraya River". The river is assumed to be the classical Cestrus. West of Parha were the "Lukka Lands". Parha likely spoke a late Luwian dialect like Lycian and that of the neo-Hittite kingdoms. Perge returns to history as a Pamphylian Greek city, and with Pamphylia came under successive rule by Persians, Athenians, and Persians again. Alexander the Great, after quitting Phaselis, occupied Perge with a part of his army. The road between these two towns is described as long and difficult. Alexander's rule was followed by the Diadochi empire of the Seleucids, then the Romans. Perge gained renown for the worship of Artemis, whose temple stood on a hill outside the town, and in whose honour annual festivals were celebrated. The coins of Perge represent both the goddess and her temple. In 46 A.D., according to the Acts of the Apostles, St.
