Trains arrive and depart at Tipton station every 30 minutes from Birmingham New Street or Wolverhampton. For train information and timetables visit the National Rail Enquiries website. From the station you can walk to the museum in 20 minutes, take a bus (see below) or use one of the taxi numbers listed below. There is no taxi rank at the station so if you wish to use a taxi it is advised to pre-book. Parking and access by car: Black Country Living Museum is situated in the heart of the Black Country on the A4037 between Dudley and Tipton. The Museum is well signposted from the M5 and M6. M5 Junction 2: Follow the A4123 northwest toward Wolverhampton/Dudley. After three miles, turn left onto the A4037 Tipton Road heading south. The entrance is 150 yards on your right. Note: these directions are from the M5 junction 2. Please be aware that the Black Country 'i' (information) signs at junctions 1 and 3 do not direct to the Museum. M6 Junction 10: Follow the A454 (A463) ‘Black Country Route’ toward Wolverhampton and Dudley for 4.4 miles. Turn left onto the A4123 Birmingham New Road toward Dudley heading southeast for 2.4 miles. Turn right onto the A4037 Tipton Road heading south. The entrance is 150 yards on your right. Car parking: There is ample car and coach parking at the Museum. A parking charge normally applies (free for delegates and exhibitors), so please ask at reception for a free token before departure. On busy days, you may be directed to the overflow car park, located a short walk from the Museum entrance. Parking in this car park is free of charge. Accommodation: There are a range of hotels available in Dudley. The Journal welcomes contributions of articles and notes on subjects of relevance to English place-names. The English Place-Name Society (EPNS) was established in 1923 to conduct a county-by-county survey of the place-names of England. To date, the Survey has produced 90 volumes. Almost all English counties have been surveyed, at least in part, and work to complete the Survey is ongoing. The Survey is used by researchers, academics, and those interested in the origins, meaning, and significance of English place-names. The research work and the publication of the Survey are financed by the annual subscriptions of members of the Society, with the help of grants from the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the British Academy. Since the progress and success of the Survey depend largely upon the strength of the membership, the Society always welcomes new members, both personal and institutional.
