Utah Deputy/Political Director The Utah Democratic Party (UDP) seeks a dynamic, committed individual to join our staff as the Deputy Director. The UDP seeks a person with concrete management experience in a political environment, including demonstrated experience with supervision, organization, communication experience and donor development. The position is supervised and managed by the ED. Responsibilities: ● Work at the direction of the Executive Director in carrying out the political, organizational and financial goals of the UDP ● Manage the Political Organizing Department ● Supervise potential organizing staff ● Establish and ensure outreach and organizational goals are met ● Work in a leadership role with the UDP Coordinated Campaign. ● Help promote the Party Platform & Legislative Action Items ● Manage workflow for political and organizing events ● Work in support of other UDP programs, with responsibility for leadership where needed. ● Support the Party’s Finance Committee in building donor relationships, recruiting new donors, and planning and execution of UDP events, including but not limited to: o Quarterly State Central Committee Meetings and State Convention o Annual Legislative Gala o Annual Taylor & Mayne Dinner o Annual Eleanor Roosevelt Luncheon ● Supporting the Party’s Mobilization Subcommittee in conducting trainings for county parties, caucuses, local candidates, and other organizations as needed ● Supporting communications efforts. ● Miscellaneous other duties as assigned by the Executive Director including Qualifications: ● Passion for electing Democrats and working with a broad coalition of supporters ● Previous experience working with the UDP, another state party, or political organization of equivalent size ● Political organizing, campaign or advocacy experience ● Strong staff management experience ● Comfort working with high-level Democratic officials, candidates, staff, and donors. ● Experience coordinating with stakeholders including unions, democratic allies, elected officials and staff, and major donors ● Experience planning and executing major events with 300 or more participants ● Experience planning, coordinating, and executing organizing outreach eventsAbility to support fundraising effort and do fundraising asks ● Experience with NGP VAN or equivalent political software a plus To Apply: This is a full-time position, available immediately, with benefits based in Salt Lake City, Utah. Salary is commensurate with experience with a range of $45,000-$55,000.
