NATIONAL COLLEGIATE WOMEN’S GYMNASTICS CHAMPIONSHIPS RECORDS BOOK 2015 Championship 2 History 4 Brackets 17 2015 CHAMPIONSHIP HIGHLIGHTS Florida’s McMurtry finishes off triumphant title victory: Alex McMurtry is the youngest member of the Florida gymnastics team. Maybe the 18-year-old isn’t old enough to feel pressure. Maybe she didn’t know she should. On the final rotation Saturday night -- the uneven bars -- Florida needed a 9.95 or better to win its third consecutive NCAA gymnastics title. All McMurtry did was execute her best routine of the season, earning a career-best 9.95 to propel the Gators a final score of 197.850 and the national championship. “I didn’t necessarily know what score I had to get,” McMurtey said. “I think that would have made it even harder for me so I knew I had a job to do and I knew my teammates had my back. Going last is sometimes a good position, sometimes a bad position, and we had five girls hit routines so I knew my teammates had my back and I just had to do my job. It all worked out for me and that was one of the best routines of my career.” “It’s amazing that she came out under this heavy pressure situation as a freshman and performed as well as she did everywhere,” Florida head coach Rhonda Faehn said.“To anchor that bar lineup, to have that fight for every little thing, it’s not only amazing, it speaks volumes for what she will continue to bring to this team in the future, which is exciting.” Faehn had her back to the scoreboard and paid no attention to the other teams competing.

Case 18-09108-RLM-11 Doc 562 Filed 06/05/19 EOD 06/05/19 16:35:52 Pg 1 of 21 IN THE UNITED STATES BANKRUPTCY COURT FOR THE SOUTHERN DISTRICT OF INDIANA INDIANAPOLIS DIVISION In re: Chapter 11 1 USA GYMNASTICS, Case No. 18-09108-RLM-11 Debtor. DEBTOR’S OBJECTION TO COMMITTEE’S 2004 MOTION USA Gymnastics, as debtor and debtor in possession in the above-captioned chapter 11 case (the “Debtor” or “USAG”), objects to The Additional Tort Claimants Committee Of Sexual Abuse Survivors’ Motion For An Order Pursuant To Bankruptcy Rule 2004 Directing Production Of Documents And Materials From USA Gymnastics [Dkt. 519] (the “Rule 2004 Motion”). INTRODUCTION On April 24, and May 8, 2019, the Sexual Abuse Survivors Committee (“Committee”) served the Debtor with two overly-broad document demands seeking a wide-range of documents without any time limits whatsoever. In total, the Committee sought over 102 categories of documents. As the Committee concedes in its Rule 2004 Motion, in slightly over a month, in three separate productions, USAG has produced documents or provided information in response to most of the categories of documents that the Committee sought. (Rule 2004 Motion ¶¶ 16, 22-23.) Of 2 the 102 different demands, only 14 remain unanswered. 1 The last four digits of the Debtor’s federal tax identification number are 7871. The location of the Debtor’s principal office is 130 E. Washington Street, Suite 700, Indianapolis, Indiana 46204. 2 In Exhibit A to its Motion, the Committee lists 16 demands it contends are unsatisfied, but one of those demands is new, as the Committee admits, and as explained below, USAG has in fact responded to one of the demands already.

  • OLYMPIC GAMES MONTREAL July 17 - August 01, 1976
Y.E.A.H. - Young Europeans Active and Healthy OLYMPIC GAMES MONTREAL July 17 - August 01, 1976 Canada boycotted by Africa... The 1976 Summer Olympics, officially called the Games of the XXI Olympiad ( French : Les XXIes olympiques d'été ), were held in Montreal , Quebec , in 1976, and the first Olympic Games held in Canada . Montreal was awarded the rights to the 1976 Games on May 12, 1970, at the 69th IOC Session in Amsterdam , over the bids of Moscow and Los Angeles . It is so far the only Summer Olympic Games to be held in Canada. Calgary and Vancouver later hosted the Winter Olympic Games in 1988 and 2010 , respectively. The vote occurred on May 12, 1970, at the 69th IOC Session in Amsterdam, Netherlands . While Los Angeles and Moscow were viewed as the favourites given that they represented the world's two main powers, many of the smaller countries supported Montreal as an underdog and as a politically neutral site for the games. Los Angeles was eliminated after the first round and Montreal won in the second round. Moscow would go on to host the 1980 Summer Olympics and Los Angeles the 1984 Summer Olympics . One blank vote was cast in the second and final round. Toronto had made its third attempt for the Olympics but failed to get the support of the Canadian Olympic Committee , Based on www.wikipedia.org which selected Montreal instead. The Games were officially opened by Elizabeth II. The Olympic torch was lit by Stephane Prefontaine and Sandra Henderson (see photo) . Twenty-nine countries, mostly African, boycotted the Montreal Games when the International Olympic Committee (IOC) refused to ban New Zealand, after the New Zealand national rugby union team had toured South Africa earlier in 1976 in defiance of the United Nations ' calls for a sporting embargo.

Alabama won its sixth title by posting a score of 197.850 to beat Florida’s 197.775, giving the Southeastern Conference the top two spots in its Super Six showdown with the Pac-12. Entering the fi nal rotation, Florida led Alabama by only 25-thousandths of a point. The Gators scored a 49.40 on their fi nal routine, the fl oor exercise, and Alabama won with its 49.50 on the beam. ”I realized our scores had matched up with theirs pretty well and it was going to come down to that last routine,” Patterson said. Florida closed its fl oor routine with a 9.925 from all-around champion Kytra Hunter. ”I knew that Ashley was going on the balance beam, and I knew it came down to that routine,” Patterson said. If Priess knew the championship would be decided by her routine, she didn’t show any sign of pressure. ”There really was nothing in my mind that I have to stick this or I really need a good score,” Priess said.

  • Handout #5 Gymnastics Champions Mary Lou Retton
Handout #5 Gymnastics Champions Mary Lou Retton Mary Lou Retton was born in Fairmont, West Virginia in 1968. At a young age, she realized that she needed more rigorous training if she wanted to become an Olympic champion. Studying under Bela Karolyi, the coach who had trained Retton’s idol, Nadia Comaneci, she pursued the dream of becoming a gold medal gymnast. The hard work paid off when she became the first American to take home the gold in the women’s all-around competition. In addition, she was also the first American woman to win an Olympic gold medal in gymnas- tics. She is the only woman to capture three American Cups and the only American to win Japan’s Chunichi Cup, two U.S. Gymnastics Federation American Classics and the All-Around title at both the 1984 national championships and the Olympic trials. Retton’s five-medal performance made her the darling of the 1984 Games in Los Angeles. Her one gold of the five was the big one — the all-around, which she clinched by scoring perfect 10s in the floor exercise and vault. She won silvers in the team and vault competitions, and bronze medals on the uneven bars and in the floor exercise. Retton’s five Olympic medals place her in a tie for second place among all U.S. women on the all-time list. Mary Lou’s historic Olympic performances, along with her radiant smile and enthusiasm, brought her recognition as Sports Illustrated Magazine’s “Sportswoman of the Year” in 1984. That same year, the Associated Press awarded her the title “Amateur Athlete of the Year”.
