As you will note, I left you a voicemail yesterday with regards to my passport being sent in the way it was, alongwith my original e-mail. In this day and age of data security, it was well within my rights to send my passport how I wish to. Moving on further, you make comment that you have reason to doubt the address on the form being the agents. Sir, I signed a binding document and am fully aware of my moral obligations. For you to have reason to doubt the address is unwarranted and unsubstantiated. In fact, you are more than welcome to come and visit my home as I am the agent and the player! I am taking the liberty of attaching my very recent BT bill as you request sight of the same. I have also the last 3 years statements of my council tax from the Manchester City Council's online - Council Tax Tracker Account available. Let me have your fax number, and I will send them to you as well. If you require bank/mortgage statements going back, then these are available. I will gladly bring the last 3/4 years business and majority bank statements tomorrow with me to the ground and they will be available for perusal. My personal P60's are available as well for the last 3 (maybe 4) years. I am a UK resident and have been in the UK for the time stated over the last 4 years, period. Furthermore, you should be aware that the majority of club secretaries, captains and other members, will know me from my regular contacts with them via phone and e-mail in my duties as an player agent. You may wish to randomly contact, John Rotherham (who I have spoken to today as well), Paul Ford, Andy Ford, Lawrence Wilson, Adam Waterhouse, Ian Sutcliffe, the Rimmer brothers, Tony Young, Dave Dove, Tim Watkins, Steve Garvey, Sion Morris and others. I have provided the LDCC and member clubs with many high profile professionals such as Sami, Saqlain, Hafeez, Wasim, Asif, Rehman, Khan, Zia and many others. Additionally, many players have stage names, Ahmed Abbasi is our family name: uncles, grand father's and great grandfathers name. We belong to a very influential family background, that includes Pakistani Army Generals, Major Generals, former Intelligence Commander, Senior Judge and an uncle who was Province Police Chief. I chose to have that name in my Pakistani passport and used it accordingly in my time in Pakistan and when I played Test Cricket. I dont hold a Pakistani passport anymore now that I have a British one, as I reside in the UK. Mohammad is the name of our respected Prophet (saw), and 90% plus of the worlds male muslims, have this name before them, I do not use it formally and you will find they dont. Nadeem is the common name of spelling the name. My parents spelt it with an 'I'. Feel free to speak to any Pakistani males you know and ask them to spell Nadeem and Naveed. 95% - their replies will be 'ee' as opposed to 'i' I represent Shahid Afridi, his name would not fit onto your Reg Form, neither would several others currently playing for Pakistan. Last year, Colwyn Bay signed Kabir Khan from us for 3 games due to Mohanty's non arrival, his passport is Muhammad Kabeer - you may have records of this. (Eg. I have signed Pakistani Test.ODI Bat Taufeeq Umar to Lancaster - his passport and Work Permit are completely different to his Test name). I am coming out of retirement to play in this game as our client, Yasir Ali, is with the Pakistan ODI squad and to help a partner club who signed Mohammad Asif, when he was an unknown. Finally, whilst I respect that random/spot checks to verify registrations should be done, there should be some due respect given, especially to a former Test Cricketer and for the reasons stated very early on in this piece. I trust my reply clarifies my position in a clear manner and you now make the informed and correct decision to register me as a UK player as per my signed declaration on the registration form. I make no apology for any content in this either and will happily take this to a much higher level, if required, on the basis that it leaves me with a very sour taste in my mouth, when all I have ever done is to be transparent, honest and an ever willing person to help in the name of cricket. Yours sincerely, Nadeem Abbasi BOUNCER SPORTS 07958 224510 .

  • The Search for 'Missing' Stats: Dropped Catches in Test Cricket
The Search for ‘Missing’ Stats: Dropped Catches in Test Cricket By Charles Davis For all its bewildering array of data, cricket statistics still has a few blind spots. One of the most obvious is in the area of dropped catches and other missed chances. There have been few if any extensive studies in this area. Gerald Brodribb in Next Man In mentioned that statistician R.H. Campbell estimated that 30% of catches were missed in Tests in the 1920s, and I have seen a figure of more than 30 dropped catches by the West Indies in Australia in 1968/69, a team plagued by poor fielding. But really basic questions like “Overall, what percentage of chances are dropped?” have lacked answers. For a number of years I have been collecting all the missed chances I can find in ESPNCricinfo’s ball-by-ball texts for Test matches. Because ESPNCricinfo does not always use standard terms to describe missed chances, and different commentators have their own ways of expressing themselves, the texts are searched for 40 or more words and phrases that might indicate a miss, from “drop” and “dolly” to “shell”, “grass”, and ”hash”. The process generally flags about 100-200 lines in each Test, which I then search manually to identify real chances. For some Tests, I also confirm data by checking match reports and other ball-by-ball sources. While the texts go back to 1999, the textual detail can be patchy in the early years. I have logged missed chances from late 2000 onwards, but I would consider that data to be substantially complete only from 2003.
