This was the Pincombe line at South Molton. The Grant from the Royal College was in 1616 to John Pyncombe who was married to Amy Dodridge sister to Judge Dodridge (daughter of Richard Dodridge of Barnstaple). His son also bore these arms, John Pincombe (Barister of the Middle Temple) married to Mary daughter of Sir John Carew of Crowcombe. I do not know if the son of John Pincombe, Richard Pincombe, ever bore these arms in the short year after his father died and before he died. I believe that Gertrude sister to Richard may have borne these arms as the eldest Page | 1 December 1, 2015 PINCOMBE-PINKHAM NEWSLETTER - VOLUME 1, ISSUE 1 daughter but that would have ended with her. We have had a wonderful year and as a mission community we have grown and developed. We have two people training for ministry with the dioceses which is a wonderful showing of the Holy Spirit in our midst and I hope that this continues to grow in all our churches. As a church throughout the Anglican tradition we all face the problem of how to make our churches grow in number but also in mission and service to our communities. There are no easy answers to this question, however, we must always look to the future and understand that God is with us and we will not fail, we have to have faith that we can accomplish God’s will wherever we are.
