Welcome everyone to Netball Waitakere for the 2019 Netball New Zealand U17 Champs. This year there are 40 teams from around the country competing in the Champs. Meaning there will be over 400 people living and breathing the game we love as players, coaches, managers, volunteers, umpires and supporters for 4 days. It is just a small example of the reach that netball has into our communities around the country and around the world. No doubt you are all excited about taking the court and wearing your team colours with pride. It is a wonderful achievement to be selected to represent your centre. This week is a great opportunity to build relationships within your team as you work together towards your goal. But it is also an opportunity to meet new people that share a common interest and passion for netball. Who knows who you might meet or play against! Our domestic events are a critical step on the high performance pathway, and a breeding ground for future representatives for the Beko Netball league and the ANZ Premiership. Netball New Zealand is grateful to Netball Waitakere for hosting the Netball NZ U17 Champs and we thank the many volunteers who are essential to the smooth running of an event of this size. To all the players, I wish you all the best for all your games, and hope that you can achieve the goals you have set as an individual and as a team for the week. To the team management and umpires, thank you for volunteering your time to support this event, it would not be possible without you. To the many spectators and loved ones who are supporting their teams – our thanks to you as well. Wishing everyone a successful event. Nga mihi aroha. Carole Maddix President Netball New Zealand 2019 Netball NZ U17 Champs 2 NETBALL WAITAKERE MESSAGE Welcome to Netball Waitakere, the heart of West Auckland’s netball community. We are extremely proud to be hosting the Netball NZ U17 Champs and we are all looking forward to an amazing week of netball! Our strong and supportive netball community are excited to have on display the top U17 teams from throughout New Zealand. Our friendly staff and volunteers look forward to meeting you and we know that you will have a great few days with us. We also invite you to get out and about within our thriving city and immerse yourself in the many eateries that line our local and central city streets. West Auckland, known for its beaches and the Waitakere ranges, is surrounded by many more attractions that will provide you with added memories while you stay here with us in Auckland. A special thank you to our staff and the many volunteers who are essential to the smooth running of this tournament, in addition to the many hours they already dedicate to the netball scene within our community and region. Enjoy the tournament, as we will, and all the best to all the teams involved. During her career she attended three Netball World Cups - 1995, 1999 and 2003 as well as three Commonwealth Games - 1998, 2002 and 2006. However it is not the events attended or the 92 test caps that make her so appropriate for this trophy. Anna was first selected as a Silver Fern at the age of 18 in 1994, however after 6 years she was dropped in 2000, with a recall in 2001 captaining the Silver Ferns to victory at the World Cup in 2003. Anna then suffered a serious knee injury from which she returned to play at the 2006 Commonwealth Games ending her career with a gold medal. The resilience, deterination, fitness and durability that Anna displayed throughout her career was exemplary and aspirational - we recognise this with the Netball New Zealand Under 17 Champs trophy. 2019 Netball NZ U17 Champs 6 MEDICAL SERVICES Hospital Waitakere Hospital Open 24 hours 55-75 Lincoln Rd, Henderson, Auckland 0610 Phone: 09 839 0000 Dentist White Cross Dental Monday – Thursday, 8am – 7:30pm Friday 12am – 6pm Saturday 8am – 6pm Sunday 12am – 6pm 131 Lincoln Rd, Henderson, Auckland 0610 Phone: 09 837 2915 Pharmacy Unichem Medi-Centre Pharmacy Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 10pm Saturday & Sunday, 9am – 10pm 131 Lincoln Rd, Henderson, Auckland 0610 Phone: 09 838 8404 Physio Peninsula Physiotherapy Monday, Wednesday, 6am – 4pm Tuesday, Thursday 7am – 4pm Friday 6am – 2pm Onsite at Netball Waitakere Phone: 09 834 9329 Healthline Phone 0800 611 116 • Free healthcare advice from trained registered nurses • Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week • They can also tell you where to find your nearest GP after-hours service, hospital emergency department, pharmacy, or out-of-hours dental surgery. 2019 Netball NZ U17 Champs 7 COURT LAYOUT Court 24 Court 23 Court 22 Court 21 Court 20 Court 19 Court 18 Court 17 Court 16 Court 15 Court 14 Court 13 Court 12 Court 11 Court 10 Court 9 Court 8 Court 7 Court 6 Court 5 Police Court 3 Court 2 Court 1 Pavilion 2019 Netball NZ U17 Champs 8 EVENT SCHEDULE MONDAY 15TH JULY 8.15am Championship Pool Play Commences TUESDAY 16TH JULY 8.15am Championship Pool Play Ends WEDNESDAY 17TH JULY 8.15am Championship Post Pool Play Commences THURSDAY 18TH JULY 8.15am Championship Post Pool Play & Final Play-Offs 2.45pm Grand Final 4.00pm Presentations GAME INFORMATION Duration of Games – 40 mins These are played in 4 x 10min quarters, with intervals of 3 minutes between each quarter. 4 points Win 2 points Draw 1 point Loss (3 goals or less) 0 points Loss (more than 3 goals) 2019 Netball NZ U17 Champs 9 TEAMS POOL A TEAM ZONE Wellington A Black Central Christchurch A Red Mainland North Canterbury Mainland Invercargill South Kapi Mana Central POOL B TEAM ZONE Auckland 1 Northern Thames Valley Waikato Bay of Plenty Harbourside Waikato Bay of Plenty Mid Canterbury Mainland Nelson Mainland POOL C TEAM ZONE Howick Pakuranga Northern North Habour 1 Northern Hutt Valley Gold Central Gisborne Waikato Bay of Plenty Rotorua Waikato Bay of Plenty POOL D TEAM ZONE Manawatu A Green Central Eastern Bay of Plenty Waikato Bay of Plenty Pukekohe Northern Trust Waikato Hamilton City B Waikato Bay of Plenty Papakura Northern 2019 Netball NZ U17 Champs 10 TEAMS POOL E TEAM ZONE Auckland 2 Northern Eastern Waikato Waikato Bay of Plenty Northland Cluster Northern Eastern Southland South Manawatu B White Central POOL F TEAM ZONE Waitakere 1 Northern Dunedin South Wellington B Gold Central South Canterbury Mainland Invitational Northern POOL G TEAM ZONE Whanganui Central Trust Waikato Hamilton City A Waikato Bay of Plenty Taranaki B Central Waitakere 2 Northern Christchurch B Black Mainland POOL H TEAM ZONE Taranaki A Central Bayleys Hawke’s Bay Black Central North Harbour 2 Northern Selwyn Mainland Taupo Waikato Bay of Plenty 2019 Netball NZ U17 Champs 11 DRAW Monday 15th July - Draws Permitted Court Game Pool Team 1 Team 2 8.15am 6 1 A WELLINGTON A BLACK v NORTH CANTERBURY 8 2 C HOWICK PAKURANGA v HUTT VALLEY GOLD 10 3 G WHANGANUI v TRUST WAIKATO HAMILTON CITY A 12 4 E AUCKLAND 2 v NORTHLAND CLUSTER 14 5 G TARANAKI B v WAITAKERE 2 16 6 H TARANAKI A v NORTH HARBOUR 2 9.20am 6 7 A INVERCARGILL v KAPI MANA 8 8 B AUCKLAND 1 v HARBOURSIDE 10 9 C GISBORNE v ROTORUA 12 10 D MANAWATU A GREEN v

  • New Steel Membership 2021
2021 For us, travelling to Auckland and playing away from home for 7 weeks straight was tough. Once we knew that we were coming home to play with our home crowd behind us, it lied our spirits and kept us fighting. It was such an emotional return to our Steel fortress. We all knew that we needed to play the best netball we had ever played to reward all of you for being such amazing, loyal supporters of our Steel team. The noise and energy that we get when we step out of those changing rooms and onto the main court is outstanding. The way you cheer from the beginning of the match right till the end helps us secure a win. You really are FROM THE our 8th player. As we look towards our 2021 campaign we’re excited for many reasons. With 8 home games and a new look team, it’s an opportunity for us to rebuild with some exciting players who are chomping at the bit to be given the opportunity to start in the ANZP. We are a little bit of the COACH unknown which will make us unpredictable and add an element of surprise. Firstly, we just want to say THANK YOU I believe we’ll have a good mixture of experience and for all your support! enthusiasm. Our Steel way is to keep possession of the 2020 was tough for us all, but throughout ball. We are a hard-working Club and that won’t change. our challenging 2020 campaign just Our girls will be prepared to grind it out and work till that knowing that you all were standing behind last whistle.
