APFI Trade Mission to the American Film Market Mission Purpose The APFI’s focus for the AFM in 2019 will be on a pitching meeting schedule with individual meetings for each member of a 6 person group of producers drawn from Finland’s leading film production companies. MediaXchange’s priority will be promoting the APFI’s group of producers and maximizing their meeting schedules and opportunities for their film projects. Group Numbers: This proposal, the schedule of work and the fee, have been designed for a minimum of 4 and maximum of 6 fiction, feature film producers/production companies. Schedule Content: Each of the following stages will be key to the proper preparation of the Finnish producers in order to provide an effective schedule. 1. Preparation through Advance Focus Forms and Calls: a) the producers will provide information on their company, current representation, projects and targets to enable MediaXchange to assess their potential meeting needs and interests. A call with each producer will further assist in MediaXchange’s sourcing of meeting contacts and schedule planning. b) Assessment of the producers’ level and needs as well as current US and international representation and profile c) Consultation/advice on preparation of materials and potential pitching angles. 2. On site welcome and schedule briefing session 3. On site Specialist Sessions for the group designed to outline the current state of the US market and to specifically address how to approach and understand the US and international markets for producers selling their projects. Examples of the topics which would be covered are detailed in the attachment Meeting Targets and Session Topics. Once the participating producers have been confirmed, the topics will be updated and revised in line with information obtained from the Focus Forms, the Preparation Calls and in line with the interests and needs of the producers. 4. A debrief meeting with the group or individual producers or the APFI to review the most effective follow up to the meetings. Dates: MediaXchange will design, source, coordinate and deliver a 3-day schedule to run from Wednesday, November 6th through Friday, November 8th.The producers will give precedence to the MediaXchange meetings on these days above any meetings they have arranged for their own schedules. MediaXchange will deliver 6-8 meetings for each participant with the meetings and Specialist Sessions to take place during the 3-day schedule. Meeting Host Targets: Meeting targets will be producers, financiers, studios, streaming services, production companies, agents and casting agents. Some examples of those who will be approached are detailed below, Meeting Targets and Specialist Session Topics. The APFI and MediaXchange will liaise to ensure the overlap of contact, between MediaXchange’s approaches to Meeting hosts and Specialist Session speakers and the APFI’s approaches regarding the APFI’s own schedule in Los Angeles, is minimized and coordinated. Logistics: • The APFI plan is that the producers do not have to register for the AFM. It is noted that the current early bird registration pricing applies through October 11th, 2019 and that access to the AFM’s principal location of the Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel is restricted to those complying with registration conditions. • Meetings will therefore take place in the hotel/s adjacent to the AFM’s principal location or at the offices of hosts. MediaXchange will ensure the schedule is built around the travel time necessary and it will be the responsibility of the producers to make their own transfer and travel arrangements in order to arrive promptly at each meeting. • A location for the onsite Briefing and Specialist Sessions will be arranged by MediaXchange. • Meetings and logistics during the MediaXchange schedule will be supervised or coordinated, depending on the location, by the MediaXchange team in Los Angeles.
