2017 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships presented by A1 - August 4 QUOTES Women's 101: Talita Antunes / Larissa Franca Brazil (1) def. Maria Antonelli / Carolina Salgado Brazil (9) 21-17, 21-17 (0:32) Talita Antunes, Brazil – “I think we are playing good. I can’t say that no one can stop us, but if we play good together and strong, it is hard for anyone to beat us. When I play against Brazil we try to do something different because we know each other so well. We play here on the FIVB Tour and on the Brazilian tour. Today we did better than them. Yesterday when we played Brazil, they served so well. So today for us it was important to be careful about their serves. I think we did our best.” Maria Antonelli, Brazil – “Against this team you cannot have the mistakes that we had. Three points we didn’t concentrate enough and they made the points. We were wanting a better game, but it’s okay. It’s our first World Championship together. Of course I am not happy right now, but they deserve it. Now I hope they win this tournament, they’re the only Brazil team left. So now I cheer for them. We could have played better, but that’s the game. Next time we prepare more and fix what we did wrong. I am proud of my partner and what we did in Austria. A lot of teams lost before us, so let’s think about the future. This is the beginning for me and Carolina.” Carolina Salgado, Brazil – “They are a great team, an amazing team. -

Who will take it home in 2019? Founded in 1983, the AVP is the longest standing and most well known American beach volleyball organization, facilitating national tournaments, developing new talent, invigorating communities through sport, and promoting a beach volleyball lifestyle across the United States. The AVP’s second stop on the 2019 Tour is to the second largest state in the country, Texas. The capital city of Austin playing host to high-level volleyball is nothing new to the area. Combine a passionate fanbase with the country’s top pro beach volleyball athletes, and a little extra sprinkle of that Austin-weird, this tournament is sure to be one of the can’t-miss stops on tour. In 2018, the AVP saw Phil Dalhausser, Nick Lucena, April Ross, and Alix Klineman take home first place in the Austin Open. Dalhausser and Lucena also won the Austin Open in 2018, adding on to their impressive resume. The AVP is excited to welcome you to the 2019 Austin Open. The 2019 season is shaping up to be an amazing experience for all, highlighted by eight unique tour stops. AVP events embrace the beauty of our sport and the lifestyle, and we look forward to sharing this with the community in Austin. The 2019 Austin Open will be made up of 16 Main Draw teams for both men and women — 10 auto entries, 2 wild cards, and 4 qualifier teams. Athletes are competing for a slice of the $150,000 in prize money. Besides watching the world-class athletes battle for the podium, attendees can enjoy an interactive sponsor village experience: free falling into the Jump Zone, partaking in top local food options, VIP hospitality zones, drinks, and physical activities. -
