Billy Ray Cyrus ABH Pitch Sheet 2017 IS THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE RELEASE OF “ACHY BREAKY HEART,” ONE OF THE MOST POPULAR, YET POLARIZING SONGS IN THE HISTORY OF COUNTRY MUSIC TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO SPEAK WITH BILLY RAY CYRUS ABOUT THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY AND RE-RECORDING THE SONG IN MULTIPLE VERSIONS 2017 is the 25th anniversary of the introduction of Billy Ray Cyrus to the world and the release of his signature smash hit single “Achy Breaky Heart.” Billy Ray has re-recorded the original song, which will be available on iTunes on Friday, April 28. He has also recorded a Spanglish version with Latin superstar Jencarlos Canela and additional versions are in the works. “Achy Breaky Heart” was multi-million selling country single that launched the 90’s line dance craze and is one of the most catchy, polarizing, history-making songs in the entire country music genre. It was the first million-selling country single since "Islands in the Stream" by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton in 1983. The album Some Gave All, which contained the smash single, went straight to the top of the charts and remained there for an unprecedented 17 weeks, a record for a debut artist at that time. Its success was so unparalleled and unexpected, in fact, that it derailed a lot of release schedule plans on Music Row and even beyond. Billy Ray is currently starring in the hit CMT comedy series, “Still The King,” which was picked up for a second season. Cyrus stars as “Burnin’” Vernon Brown, a one-hit-wonder country artist who emerges decades later as an Elvis impersonator. After a drunken accident into a church sign, Brown is sentenced to perform community service for the church as part of his parole. He pretends to be the congregation's new minister in attempt to reconnect with a former one-night-stand (Joey Lauren Adams), when he learns he has a 15-year-old daughter (Madison Iseman) he's never met. Billy Ray created the show and wrote the original screenplay. Throughout the course of nearly three decades, Billy Ray Cyrus has achieved international success as a singer, songwriter, entertainer, and philanthropist. He has sold millions of albums, charted 35 singles, 16 of which are Top 40 hits and continues to receive critical acclaim as an actor, writer, and executive producer in film and television. In addition: - “Some Gave All” has been one of the most-played songs honoring the military; - He received the VFW Hall of Fame for "his outstanding career as a country singer and in sincere appreciation for his support of America's veterans" - He has starred on Broadway - “Doc” was the highest rated show on the PAX Network. He left the show at the peak of its popularity to focus on music. - He won the Bob Hope Award for Excellence in Entertainment from the Congressional Medal of Honor Society. - He has received Humanitarian Awards from numerous organizations. **Make sure to book your interview with Billy Ray as soon as possible. FROM MEMORY TO HONOR: STORIES OF SOUTH CAROLINA'S WORLD WAR MONUMENTS A Thesis Presented to the Graduate School of Clemson University In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree Master of Arts History by Amy Michelle Matthews August 2008 Accepted by: Dr. Steven G. Marks, Committee Chair Dr. Paul C. Anderson Dr. Richard Saunders, Jr. ABSTRACT Out of the South‟s defeat in the Civil War emerged proponents of the Lost Cause and a desire to remember and perpetuate the South‟s honor in the war. This desire to commemorate fallen loved ones and to preserve their memory continued into the twentieth century, most notably the era following the First and Second World Wars. Based on the South‟s strong sense of military tradition and remembrance established after the Civil War, a scholarly debate has emerged in recent decades over the meaning of military commemorations and monuments. One side of the argument views World War I commemorations as a continuation of traditional ways of understanding war and remembering the fallen.

  • 'Dolly Celebrates 25 Years of Dollywood' Talent Bios
‘DOLLY CELEBRATES 25 YEARS OF DOLLYWOOD’ TALENT BIOS DOLLY PARTON - "I've always been a writer. My songs are the door to every dream I've ever had and every success I've ever achieved," says Dolly Parton of her incredible career, which has spanned nearly five decades and is showing no signs of slowing down. An internationally renowned superstar, the iconic and irrepressible Parton has contributed countless treasures to the world of music entertainment, penning classic songs such as "Jolene," "Coat of Many Colors," and her mega-hit "I Will Always Love You." With 1977's crossover hit "Here You Come Again," she successfully erased the line between country and pop music without noticeably altering either her music or her image. "I'm not leaving country," she said at the time, "I'm just taking it with me." Making her film debut in the 1980 hit comedy “9 to 5,” Parton earned rave reviews for her performance and an Oscar nomination for writing the title tune, along with her second and third Grammy Awards. Roles in “Steel Magnolias,” “Best Little Whorehouse in Texas,” “Rhinestone,” and “Straight Talk” followed, along with two network television series, made for television movies, network and HBO specials, and guest-starring roles in series television. In 2006, Parton earned her second Oscar nomination for "Travelin' Thru," which she wrote for the film “Transamerica.” Dolly Parton's remarkable life began very humbly. Born January 19, 1946 on a farm in Sevier County, Tennessee, Parton is the fourth of twelve children. Her parents, Robert Lee and Avie Lee Parton struggled to make ends meet in the impoverished East Tennessee hills.
