British Endurance Racing ENDURANCE CHAMPIONSHIP ENDURANCE CHAMPIONSHIP THE HOME OF BRITISH ENDURANCE RACING 2021 SEASON GUIDE ENDURANCE CHAMPIONSHIP ENDURANCE CHAMPIONSHIP Contents Welcome to Britcar Page 3 Welcome Welcome to Britcar 2021 The 2020 season threw some enormous challenges, but we managed to ensure, along with a Page 5 2020 Endurance Review dedicated bunch of competitors, that it was a resounding success. Our brand new Trophy category excelled despite the pandemic, with an eclectic mix of cars and a wide range of driver experience, and our roster of overall and class champions typifies the success that can be achieved Page 7 2020 Trophy Review at this level, whilst our Britcar Endurance category once again proved Britcar’s wide appeal to all aspects of endurance racing, Page 9 2021 Championships whether your commitment be “aspirational” or “destinational” – our teenage overall champions, Jem Hepworth and Danny Harrison, can look forward to a professional career in global Page 11 Sponsorship Support endurance racing, and, for instance, our Class 3 victors, Marcus Fothergill and Dave Benett, add another trophy in careers as skilled amateurs of over 20 years of experience. Page 13 BEPI Explained For our 2021 season, we build on the success of last year, and continue with our two discrete Britcar Endurance and Page 15 Raceday Hospitality Britcar Endurance Trophy categories on a race weekend, with Endurance generally having two 60-minute races on a Saturday, Page 17 Media and TV Coverage and Trophy featuring two 50-minute races on the Sunday. There may be some exceptions through the season, so please check our 2021 calendar. As previously, both championships will be regulated by our unique Britcar Endurance Performance Indicator Page 19 Trusted Partner Offers (BEPI), to ensure a structured and competitive environment. In addition, following the success of the Praga marque in Britcar, we will be running a separate championship for these exciting cars, within the Britcar Endurance structure and in association with the manufacturer. This category Page 28 Contact details will have its own results, trophies and points structure, and will not conflict with the existing Britcar Endurance Championship. You will see a change to Britcar’s image in 2021, as the parent company of our long-standing tyre partner Dunlop is changing the branding to Goodyear. This does not affect the stability of the ongoing partnership, and we look forward to continuing our relationship with Goodyear’s associates HP Tyres for the on-site supply of regulation tyres for all of our championships. Additionally, our association with Anglo American Oils continues, for the at-circuit supply of Sunoco fuel, and we also enjoy ongoing partnerships with a number of suppliers of automotive and motorsport products and services, offering preferential rates and discounts to Britcar competitors. Britcar is indebted to the support of a number of people that ensure the smooth running of events; to the Britcar staff, many of whom are volunteers, for their raceday support and background work between events, and to members of the Williams family for their input on several levels. I would also like to personally thank all of our sponsors, the staff at the British Automobile Racing Club, and all circuit staff, and of course, the dedicated and hard working marshals who support us at each event. So it’s going to be an exciting 2021, and Britcar would love you to be part of our bright future. • Horsepower Racing Calls in the Power of AMR Aston Martin Racing Was Delighted to Start a New Relationship with Horsepower Racing
Horsepower Racing calls in the power of AMR Aston Martin Racing was delighted to start a new relationship with Horsepower Racing last week, when the team found itself without a car just days before the opening round of the 2013 Britcar MSA British Endurance Championship at Donington Park, UK. The day after team-owner and driver Paul Bailey called the Banbury-based team, the V12 Vantage GT3 was delivered, and the following day it competed in the three-hour race finishing 2nd overall and recording the fastest lap of the day by more than half a second. The Vantage GT3 was quick from the off-set; when Bailey and teammate Andy Schulz drove the car in Saturday’s warm-up session, it was fastest on track, as the pair quickly adapted to the new car. In qualifying, Schulz stunned on-lookers as he put the car 3rd on the grid in his first competitive outing in the V12 charger. In the highly-competitive race, the Pro-Am team used the Vantage GT3’s pace and reliability to push hard to the end, taking the second place position and finishing two laps ahead of the third place car. Paul Bailey comments: “At Donington Park on Thursday, the engine blew up on my Ferrari 430 GT2 and I couldn’t source a new engine. At half-past four, I called Aston Martin Racing and asked if I could have a car, spare parts and technician and the answer was yes! The car was delivered with the correct livery and transponder set up on Friday evening.
