The Sycamores are 12-15 all-time Schedule in Carbondale, but have won the last three meetings with the SIU at Saluki Stadium. An Indiana State win would end a streak of Sept. 27 vs. #21 Northern Iowa L, 33-0 14-straight Missouri Valley Football Conference losses. A win would also notch second-year head coach Curt Mallory’s first Oct. 6 at #3 South Dakota State L, 54-51 OT MVFC win. The last conference win for ISU came in 2016 when the Sycamores knocked off the Salukis, 22-14. Oct. 13 vs. Missouri State (HC) L, 29-26 Oct. 20 at Southern Illinois 3 p.m. RUSHING ATTACK STRONG FOR THE TREES Oct. 27 at Youngstown State 2 p.m. The offense for the Sycamores is night and day when compared to last year’s squad. The rushing attack is ranked 10th in the Nov. 3 vs. South Dakota 1 p.m. nation with 263.3 yards on the ground per game. Much of that total comes from Ja’Quan Keys who is third in the country with in rushing yards per game with 132. In total, Keys has 782 yards on the ground through six games and has scored 11 Nov. 10 vs. Illinois State 1 p.m. touchdowns. In 11 games in 2017, ISU totaled 1,185 yards and this season in just six games, the Sycamores have racked up Nov. 17 at Western Illinois 2 p.m. 1,580 yards. ISU ranks sixth nationally #marchon | #ALLIN 2018 Sycamore Football Staff and has scored in the red zone 23-of-24 times for a 95.8 percentage. Last season, ISU entered the red zone just 19 Head Coach Curt Mallory times over 11 games with only nine touchdowns. Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks Jeff Hecklinski Defensive Coordinator/Defensive Backs Brad Wilson DEFENSE PUSHED TO ITS LIMIT IN 2017 Special Teams Coordinator Kevin Abrams The Sycamore defense was pushed to its limit last season, allowing 45 points per game. Gronowski also earned the league's Freshman and Newcomer of the Year honors. Jared Brinkman of UNI has been named MVFC Defensive Player of the Year, And coach Bobby Petrino of Missouri State has been tabbed MVFC Coach of the Year. Gronowski, a Jerry Rice Award finalist, follows NDSU's Trey Lance (2019) as the only league freshmen to earn the MVFC's top offensive honor, and he's the fifth freshman to win both the league's Freshman and Newcomer of the Year honors. Previ- ous first-year players to sweep those two awards include QB Sawyer Kollmorgen (UNI) in 2012, RB Martin Ruiz (YSU) in 2013, LB Jabril Cox (NDSU) in 2017, and QB Trey Lance (NDSU) in 2019. The freshman from Naperville (Ill.) Ryan Boyle of Indiana State earned the Newcomer of theYear honor, and Pierre Strong Jr. of South Dakota State was voted Freshman of the Year. Coach Curt Mallory has been tabbed "Bruce Craddock" MVFC Coach of the Year. Stick is the second Bison to earn MVFC Offensive Player of the Year honors (Brock Jensen, 2013). Two previous NDSU student-athletes (DB Marcus Williams in 2012 and DE Kyle Emanuel in 2014) have been voted as the league's top defender, and Cox is the first sophomore Defensive Player of the Year in the league since 2002 (Boomer Grigsby of Illinois State). Boyle is the second Indiana State student-athlete to win the league's Newcomer of the Year award (QB Julian Reese, 2001); while Strong Jr. becomes the fourth Jackrabbit to earn the league's top freshman honor, joining QB Austin Sumner (2011); WR Jake Wieneke (2014) and LB Christian Rozeboom (2016).
