Alpine F1 Team takes home two points from Spanish Grand Prix after hard-fought contest Alpine F1 Team’s Esteban Ocon scored two points from today’s Spanish Grand Prix after finishing in ninth place at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya with home favourite Fernando Alonso outside the points in seventeenth. On a difficult afternoon in Barcelona, the team planned for a one-stop strategy with both cars, which ultimately proved increasingly challenging towards the latter stages of the race. Esteban managed to hold on to ninth place at the chequered flag with Fernando pitting close to the end as a result of high degradation on his Medium tyres on his second stint. After yesterday’s superb qualifying, Esteban made a clean start from fifth position, but lost two places on the opening lap. Fernando, from tenth, was locked in a wheel-to-wheel battle but held onto his place. In between an early safety car, both drivers remained in seventh and tenth before Fernando pitted on lap 21 for Mediums and Esteban two laps later for the same compound. With others around also pitting, it was a straight, tactical fight to the end. Esteban managed his tyres to the end, falling back to ninth, with Fernando unable to secure points at his home race after struggling on his set of tyres. He pitted on lap 61 for Softs to take him to the chequered flag in seventeenth. The team remains fifth in the Constructors’ Championship. Esteban Ocon, started P5, finished P9 “It was a tough race today. We have a few things to review as we weren’t as fast as the Ferraris or the McLarens in the race.

  • Double Points for Alpine F1 Team After Slick Portuguese
Double points for Alpine F1 Team after slick Portuguese performance Alpine F1 Team scored 10 points in today’s Heineken Portuguese Grand Prix with Esteban Ocon seventh and Fernando Alonso eighth in an entertaining, overtaking-dominated race at the Algarve International Circuit. Both drivers enjoyed a string of fine overtakes during the 66-lap race to ensure the team scored a strong haul of points and back-to-back, double top 10 finishes. Starting from a season-best sixth on the grid, Esteban lost ground at the start after going wheel to wheel with McLarens Lando Norris. Fernando, meanwhile, starting from thirteenth, slipped back to fifteenth. After an early Safety Car, both drivers settled into the race with Esteban managing his Softs until lap 22 when he pitted for Hards. After initially losing a place to Pierre Gasly, Esteban started to make up ground with the first of two overtakes on the outside of Turn 1. His second daring effort saw him pass Carlos Sainz at the same piece of tarmac for seventh place. Fernando pitted on lap 40, trading his Mediums for Hards as he started to swoop on the top 10. First, the Spanish driver overtook Gasly at Turn 1, Daniel Ricciardo two laps later and finally Sainz to close in behind Esteban inside the points. Both cars eased across the line with Esteban seventh and Fernando eighth. Esteban Ocon, started P6, finished P7 “I’m very happy with the race today, and I think we achieved our maximum. Having both cars in the points shows our progress and also how we’ve had a strong weekend overall.

  • Alpine F1 Team Launches 2021 Campaign
ALPINE F1 TEAM LAUNCHES 2021 CAMPAIGN • Alpine F1 Team today outlined its strategic vision for its F1 engagement, starting with the 2021 FIA Formula 1 World Championship campaign • The A521 features Alpine’s illustrious and historic racing colours of blue, white and red, which also represents the colours of the French and British flags • Esteban Ocon was presented in team colours for the first time • Alongside Alpine CEO Laurent Rossi and Executive Director Marcin Budkowski was newly recruited Racing Director Davide Brivio • Guanyu Zhou retains his role as the team’s Test Driver in 2021 • Alpine F1 Team highlighted its valued support from premium partners: bp Castrol, MAPFRE, DuPont, Microsoft, EURODATACAR, Bell&Ross, le coq sportif, and RCI Banque as well as its portfolio of beneficial technical partners and suppliers Alpine F1 Team officially heralded its new era today by virtually launching its first ever entry into the FIA Formula 1 World Championship. This year’s competitor, the A521, boasts a striking livery of blue, white and red which is synonymous to Alpine’s heritage and pedigree in motorsports. The car will be powered by the Renault E-Tech 20B 1.6L V6 engine power unit, designed and developed in Viry-Châtillon, marking 45 years of unbroken F1 activity for the French car manufacturer. The A521 is an evolution of the R.S.20, which competed in the 2020 championship. In line with the regulatory changes agreed last year in response to the global pandemic, the main structural elements of the A521 are a carry-over from last season. However, we have developed and improved every part that has not been homologated, especially the back of the car where additional changes to the Aerodynamic regulations were imposed by the FIA.
