Singer/Songwriter Malynda Hale Releases New CD “The Train Ride Home” on Goldway Records _____________________________________________ For Immediate Release: Street Date: June 26th, 2012 Singer/Songwriter Malynda Hale releases new CD “The Train Ride Home” on Goldway Records. “Pop Music with an Urban Soul Flare” – STR8 Shooter Magazine “Her music is strong, upbeat, and soulful; be uplifted with her heartfelt lyrics. ” – Cassandra Bautista – The Hollywood Examiner “Incredible Talent” –Bruce Maier‐Damn Good Tunes Acclaimed vocalist & songwriter Malynda Hale returns with her third and most inspiring album to date “The Train Ride Home.” Flirting with Pop & R&B, the song writing draws you in by wearing it’s heart on it’s sleeve and holds you with captivating and outstanding hooks. With influences ranging from Alicia Keys to Gavin Degraw, the album is sure to appeal to a broader spectrum of fans. While boasting a voice that is uniquely hers one can’t help but hear the echoes of the likes of India Arie & Whitney Houston. Drawing from her experience living in New York, the album is an introspective of personal relationships and accomplishments while residing outside familiar territory. The listener is along for the ride on track‐by‐track journey of self‐discovery. Whether it be the invigorating opener “City Lights” the giddiness of new love with “Fallin’” or the reaffirmation of commitment in “Blue Eyes” Malynda takes us to emotional outskirts we can all relate to. Accompanied by seasoned musicians Jamie Squire & Lena Leon on Piano. The ever‐versatile Nick Grinlinton on guitar. Samuel Brathwaite on bass, and Industry veteran Mike Veny joining on percussion. Engineered/Produced by Kevin Porter “Beyonce, Kanye West, Norah Jones, Adele, Ne‐Yo, Kylie Minoque, OneRepublic, Cirque du Soleil {Michael Jackson}, Anita Baker, Kid Cudi, Al Green, Robin Thicke, Jill Scott, T.I., Trey Songz, The Roots, The Dap‐Kings, Christina Aguilera, Cheryl Cole, Javier Colon, Snoop Dog, Dev”. A native of Southern California, Malynda’s musical ambitions range all the way back to her childhood when she penned her first song at the age of nine. Gaining influence as a gospel singer in her church inspired her to go on and study opera at Azusa Pacific University. Having had exposure on television (E! & TLC), the radio (The Caneman Radio Show, Nette Radio & Tune Us In Radio) as well as being heard online (Spotify, Amazon, Itunes & CD Baby) Malynda’s hard work, dedication and strong faith in God is what has driven her to where she is today. The Train Ride Home will surely top many top ten lists in 2012. CONTINUED ‐ MALYNDA HALE BIO: ACCLAIMED FOR HER PURE VOICE AND POWERFUL RANGE, MALYNDA HALE CONTINUES TO ADD TO A PASSIONATE FAN BASE WITH HER OWN TAKE ON POP AND R&B MUSIC. SHE GREW UP SINGING GOSPEL MUSIC IN CHURCH IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, BECAME A CLASSICALLY TRAINED VOCALIST AT AZUSA PACIFIC UNIVERSITY, AND TOURED THE WEST COAST BEFORE TAKING HER TALENTS TO NEW YORK CITY. ALL OF THIS HAS HELPED SHAPE MALYNDA’S IDENTITY AS A SINGER AND SONGWRITER, FROM HER HEARTFELT LYRICS TO HER CATCHY MELODIES. EACH PIECE MALYNDA SINGS RESONATES WITH A BROAD AUDIENCE. WHETHER HER SONGS ARE HEARD ONLINE (ITUNES, SPOTIFY, AMAZON AND CD BABY), ON TELEVISION (E! NETWORK AND TLC)) OR RADIO (THE CANEMAN RADIO SHOW, NETTE RADIO AND TUNE US IN RADIO), HER SONGWRITING HAS DRAWN COMPARISONS TO HER STRONGEST INFLUENCE GAVIN DEGRAW AND THE LIKES OF COLBIE CAILLAT AND ALICIA KEYS. IN ADDITION, NO MATTER IF YOU’VE SEEN MALYNDA SING THE NATIONAL ANTHEM AT THE STAPLES CENTER IN LOS ANGELES, PERFORM AT THE HOUSE OF BLUES IN MANDALAY BAY (OPENING FOR TYRONE WELLS AND ERNIE HALTER), OR AT ONE OF THE MANY NEW YORK CITY VENUES, HER VOICE CAN’T HIDE THE SIMILARITIES SHE SHARES WITH INDIA ARIE, HEATHER HEADLEY AND GREATS LIKE WHITNEY HOUSTON. WHILE MALYNDA DRAWS COMPARISONS TO HER MAJOR INFLUENCES, THE CORE TO HER APPEAL IS MUSIC DRAWN FROM HER OWN EXPERIENCES. “MUSIC HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE BIGGEST PART OF ME,” MALYNDA EXPLAINS. “WHEN I THINK OF SONGS THAT STICK MOST WITH ME, THEY’RE THE ONES THAT COME FROM THE SINGER’S HEART. THAT’S WHAT I TRY TO DO WITH MY MUSIC— EACH PIECE I SING AND WRITE COMES FROM MY HEART AND MY EXPERIENCES.” FROM THE FIRST TIME SHE PENNED A SONG AT AGE NINE TO HER ALBUMS FROM MY HEART TO YOURS AND NO MORE TEARS, HER FANS HAVE BEEN ABLE TO EXPERIENCE MALYNDA’S LIFE FIRST HAND— EXPERIENCES IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY, DISCOVERING HERSELF LOSING AND FINDING LOVE. IT’S NOT JUST HER OWN LIFE SHE’S SINGING ABOUT, BUT PARTS OF EACH LISTENER’S LIFE, TOO. FANS ARE QUICK TO TELL MALYNDA STORIES OF HOW HER MUSIC AND VOICE HAVE TOUCHED THEM. “I’VE HAD A LOT OF FANS CONTACT ME THROUGH MY WEBSITE AND YOUTUBE PAGE TELLING ME THAT ONE OF MY SONGS SUMMED UP EXACTLY HOW THEY FELT ABOUT THEIR BOYFRIENDS OR LOVED ONES. THAT’S A BIG REASON WHY I DO WHAT I DO. MAKING A PERSONAL CONNECTION THROUGH MY MUSIC IS ONE OF THE BEST FEELINGS I CAN HAVE.” WHAT’S NEXT FOR THE DYNAMIC PERFORMER? THE TRAIN RIDE HOME, A NEW FULL‐LENGTH ALBUM SET FOR RELEASE IN SPRING 2012. MALYNDA HAS TEAMED UP WITH RENOWNED PRODUCER/SONGWRITER LENA LEON OF THE MELODY MACHINE FACTORY (WWW.LENALEON.COM) AND PRODUCER/ENGINEER KEVIN PORTER OF GERMANO STUDIOS, (WWW.GERMANOSTUDIOS.COM) TO CAPTURE THE RECOLLECTIONS OF AN ARTIST IN THE CITY THAT NEVER SLEEPS. “LIVING IN NEW YORK HAS BEEN A GREAT SOURCE OF INSPIRATION FOR ME,” MALYNDA SAYS. SHE’S GROWN AS AN ARTIST SINCE HER LAST ALBUM, NO MORE TEARS, AND SHE LETS HER FANS KNOW WHAT THEY CAN EXPECT ON THE TRAIN RIDE HOME: “IT’S AN ALBUM ABOUT FIRST STEPPING FOOT IN A NEW PLACE, ABOUT FINDING LOVE, AND FINDING YOURSELF.” MORE IMPORTANTLY, FOR HER FANS WHO CAN’T WAIT FOR THE NEW ALBUM, IT’S ABOUT TIME. • BIO INDIA.ARIE Lauded As a Soul Music Superstar from Her Early
BIO INDIA.ARIE Lauded as a soul music superstar from her early twenties, India.Arie has always been at once angelic and mystical while managing to never isolate her audience – she is as at home accompanying a hip hop artist as she is producing truly spine-tingling soul music. India’s message of healing, love, and compassion viewed through the lens of her indelible artistry and spiritual practice has made her a global difference-maker for nearly two decades. It was 2001’s seminal Acoustic Soul (nominated for seven GRAMMYs) and the groundbreaking self-acceptance anthem “Video”, that established her as a bold new transformative force in music. Twenty-two GRAMMY nominations later (with four GRAMMY wins), she endures as one of the most empowering artists in music history (she launched her own lifestyle/music brand SoulBird in 2011), notching multiple award-winning albums and influential, chart-topping singles, meshing soul, folk, pop, R&B and hip hop and redefining the boundaries of the socially conscious singer/songwriter. Recognized as a major influence for a new generation of socially aware artists, India is both ahead of her time and of it - an evocative creative force on a mission to spread healing, peace, love and unconditional self-acceptance through the power of words and music. It’s no secret to India.Arie fans that the word ‘worthy’ has been an empowering expression of self-love for her and her audience over the years. Faithfully repurposed as the title and theme of her brand new 16-track album, including 13 songs and 3 interludes, India’s first full-length offering in five years is set to impact a world finally attuned to the kind of empathic sea-change the humanitarian singer/songwriter has embraced her entire career.

October 18, 2013 Music Business in Detroit: Estimating the Size of the Music Industry in the Motor City Prepared by: Anderson Economic Group, LLC Colby Spencer Cesaro, Senior Analyst Alex Rosaen, Senior Consultant Lauren Branneman, Senior Analyst Forward by: Patrick L. Anderson, Principal & CEO Anderson Economic Group, LLC 1555 Watertower Place, Suite 100 East Lansing, Michigan 48823 Tel: (517) 333-6984 Fax: (517) 333-7058 www.AndersonEconomicGroup.com © Anderson Economic Group, LLC, 2013 Permission to reproduce in entirety granted with proper citation. All other rights reserved. Foreword I'm pleased to share with readers of Crain's Detroit Business, as well as with others in the Detroit region, this first-of-its-kind study of the business of music in southeast Michigan. Everyone that grew up in this area knows of the "Motown sound," as well as the heritage of jazz, blues, and rock that has steeped into our culture. Many of us are also aware of the more recent innovations of techno and hip-hop, much of which has roots in Detroit. However, until now there has been no systematic analysis of the business of music in our area. Our Anderson Economic Group consultants have combed census and other business records; examined the geographic pattern of nightclubs and perfor- mance venues; scanned demographic patterns for concentrations of heavy enter- tainment consumers; and even conducted primary research into the days/nights of live music available to metro Detroiters at over two hundred specific bars, taverns, and clubs. What we have assembled is a thorough analysis of an indus- try that has always been important to our culture, but can now also be known for its contributions to our employment and earnings.

Are there people to whom you need to reach out a hand? “The life and essence of art – whether it is a painting, music or dance – lies in expressing a wellspring of emotion, the universal realm of the human spirit. It is a melding of the individual and the universal. That is why great art reaches out beyond ethnic and national barriers to move people the world over.” — Daisaku Ikeda, Founder of ICAP and President of Soka Gakkai International This exhibit is sponsored by the International Committee of Artists for Peace (ICAP), a coalition of artists and organizations dedicated to promoting global peace and individual happiness through concerts, exhibitions, educational activities and programs for young people.
