APPARITIONS of the MOTHER of GOD : HEAVENS GIFT : by PHILIP ILLSLEY APPARITIONS of THE MOTHER of GOD : HEAVENS GIFT : By PHILIP ILLSLEY. OR a SIGN of CONTRADICTION. WWW.HOLYISHISNAME.CO.UK APPARITIONS OF THE MOTHER OF GOD : HEAVENS GIFT : OR A SIGN OF CONTRADICTION : from many in the Catholic Church TODAY : THIS DEPRECIATION: Of Many of the Apparitions of OUR BLESSED LADY over the last 150 years or so and even longer : DISHEARTENS Many of those who owe THEIR CONVERSION To them. WHEN : IT is Our Blessed Lady who appears many Catholics and above all many priests DO NOT behave so well to them in FACT : This is an Ecclesiastical Tradition, because the Apostles who had been formed by Christ Himself, yet they showed themselves incredulous when MEETING the RESURRECTED Christ. “It could NOT BE”, they said : IT MUST be a hallucination of Jesus . JESUS: Who so appreciated CONFIDENT and SPONTAINEOUS FAITH ! Reproached them for this very NEGATIVE Attitude . THOMAS: Jesus, said put your finger in the holes and BELIEVE: Thomas you believe because you have seen. BLESSED Are those who believe. BUT HAVE NOT SEEN ! WHY : Have the Authorities within the Church been so Frightened these last 150 years or so, and we can go farther back if we look at the apparitions of Our Lady at Guadalupe in 1531 : UPON seeing Apparitions arise. And many times they seek with all their strength to REPRESS THEM. Some Commissions: Have deliberately sought to find faults and errors and NOT VALUES and FRUITS . They have this partly false NOTION : If God wants it He will certainly give convincing proof. THERE EXISTS within the Vatican and the Church, and it’s been there for many years, THIS Anti Church, Anti Mary, Anti Any Private Revelation bureaucracy. WHICH ABHOR: ANYTHING savouring Devotion to Mary and to private revelation THEY and others like them have forsaken The Divine Faith of Catholicism of which MARY, The Mother of GOD, is an integral part . THE MAIN CRITERIA : that should be USED for the Authenticity of Apparitions is what YOU SEE in the case of LOURDES , FATIMA, GARABANDAL, And MEDJUGORJE. St James Church in Medjugorje. THESE APPARITIONS : Lead to conversion, repentance, fasting, the Gospel, the sacraments, the Eucharist, and to daily Mass, in those converted by the Apparitions. WOULD That TODAY: The Hierarchy within the Church, and many, many Catholic priests remedy “ THE FAILINGS” They have concerning apparitions particularly of Our Blessed Lady : WOULD That TODAY : They ALL COULD UNDERSTAND The graces from God which come from these apparitions which have become MORE INTENSE in this critical period of TIME of the life of the Church TODAY: IS IT AN ILLUSION TODAY: To Think that in this period of time which is a grave one in many ways : THE LORD: Should NOT have sent His Most Holy And Blessed Mother and the Mother of US ALL : To prepare Us ! If Not for His, Final Return (The Parousia ) Then to lead all Her Children Back to Her Son Jesus before it’s too late at this time of the Great Apostasy the lack of Faith and the lack of love of THE TRUTH ! THE HOLY VIRGIN inseparable from THE HOLY SPIRIT wants us all today to return to Her Son Jesus. NOT through apparitions alone, BUT through apparitions like Medjugorje. Whose FRUITS and VALUES have come to the help of so many Christians in need throughout the WHOLE WORLD TODAY and these apparitions are answering a GREAT SPIRITUAL NEED for so many people today. JESUS SAID: You will be able to tell them by THEIR FRUITS: A sound tree cannot bear BAD FRUIT; NOR a rotten tree GOOD FRUIT: IT IS THIS: Which matters more than anything ELSE ! As leader of the Welsh Pilgrimage to Medjugorje I have often been shocked by the lack of interest shown by many Catholic people and priests, regarding the wonderful FRUITS and VALUES which are coming from Medjugorje . AS I AM WRITING THIS : The Responsorial Psalm on Sunday 7th September 2014 IS THIS : O’ THAT TODAY : You would listen to His Voice Harden not your hearts. And the GOSPEL Acclamation: Alleluia, Alleluia YOUR WORD is TRUTH O’ LORD : Consecrate US IN YOUR TRUTH Alleluia. AN OVERVIEW: OF the Most significant apparitions of the modern ERA. Are These: WHAT : Characterises these apparitions of which the first is that of GUADALUPE in 1531: Is there public character and the crowds and the MESSAGE which guides the life of the church : And even of the world today as in : FATIMA, GARABANDAL, and MEDJUGORJE . And the Building of a Sanctuary as a place of Pilgrimage; that had not existed before. IN FACT: The Virgin appeared there NOT TO the Spanish Bishop: But on the site of the bloodthirsty goddess TOMZAMIN : To which human sacrifices were offered. THE MOTHER of MERCY: Replaced her and She chose an Indian Juan Diego, An Indian convert as Her ambassador to bring Her orders and messages to the Spanish Bishop. BUT THIS EVENT : Was badly received and 25 years later the Franciscan provincial , Francisco Bustamente DENOUNCED the cult of Guadalupe as an infiltration of the pagan goddess TOMZAMIN under Christian appearances. The Guadalupe supporters responded: The GODDESS TOMZAMIN was none other than THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY: Juan Diego and Our Lady of Guadalupe. Who had been preached originally to the Indians by The Apostle THOMAS. But this response was worthless and more negative conclusions came. BUT: The image left on Juan Diego’s cloak in 1531 Which is still exhibited in the Basilica is inexplicable in many ways. Cloaks made from fibre wear out and do not last: YET this one has lasted over 480 Years. The picture is not the result of any pigment AND REMAINS UNEXPLAINED TODAY like the TURIN SHROUD. TODAY: Following the work of Jacques Lafaye a professor of the Sorbonne ( A secular historian, not a theologian ) GUADALUPE : Is considered as the Founding EVENT not only in the Church , but of the NEW AMERICAN culture and of the Indigenous New World . TODAY : Our Lady of GUADALUPE is the most popular of Marian shrines . And it attracts millions of Pilgrims from all over the world. WHY : So Much opposition THEN to such happy news : As a Visit of Mary Our Mother ? LA SALETTE :( France 12th Sept 1846) Our Blessed Mother appeared to young shepherds at LA SALETTE in the French Alps. MARY : Spoke to the children Melanie Calvat, and Maximin Giraud, about many things that UPSET Her son Jesus. OPPOSITION To THIS : Was very severe and still remains strong DESPITE official recognition by the Local Bishop of the area on 19th Sept 1851. THE WARNINGS : Our Lady gave at La Salette. IS SELDOM MENTIONED TODAY : This message and serious warnings has been OVERLOOKED by the Church even to the present day . SPEAKING TEARFULY : Our Lady told them that this message was not only for France but for the Church and the whole world . THIS GRAVE MESSAGE tells of future world EVENTS in great detail. THIS MESSAGE HAS GREAT IMPORTANCE For the TIMES : we now live in. THIS GRAVE MESSAGE at La Salette. HAS FORETOLD the Great Apostasy the Lack of Faith, and the Lack of the love of THE TRUTH that we are all living in TODAY! THIS MESSAGE IS SO IMPORTANT FOR US ALL TODAY : That I am putting part of the message HERE !! OUR LADYS MESSAGE in PART : If my people do not wish to submit themselves, I am forced to let go of the Hand of My Son --- It is so heavy and it weighs Me down so much I can no longer keep hold of it . Society is on the very eve of the most terrible scourges and Greatest Events; One must expect to be governed by a rod of iron and to drink the chalice of GOD’S WRATH ! Priests, My Sons Ministers, priests, by their evil life, by their irreverence, and their impiety in celebrating the Holy Mysteries, love of money, love of honour and pleasures . Priests have become sewers of impurity. Woe to priests and to persons consecrated to God who by their infidelities and their Evil are Crucifying My Son ANEW! The Heads the leaders of the people of God have neglected PRAYER and PENANCE and the devil has darkened their minds. They have become those wandering stars which The Ancient DEVIL Will drag with his tail to DESTRUCTION. GOD, WILL Strike in an UNPARALLED MANER. Woe to the inhabitants of the earth! GOD will exhaust His Anger and No one will be able to ESCAPE IT ! . THIS IS ONLY PART : Of a long message given by Our Lady at La Salette : AND this is ONE of THE GREAT MESSAGES of OUR LADY and of the CENTURY. BUT : It has been hidden and forgotten about by many in the Church. To the very people OURLADY was ADDRESSING I THINK YOU Can see why they want it HIDDEN! THE LACK of FAITH, THE LACK of The LOVE of TRUTH; THESE are the TIMES we are ALL NOW LIVING IN ! WHY: So Much opposition THEN to such happy news: As a visit of Mary our mother LOURDES: (1858) these apparitions quickly Drew huge crowds. BUT again the opposition was very SEVERE! This came not only from the civil authorities, but from Commissioner Jacomet, to Prefect Massy and Ministers. Our Lady of Lourdes with Bernadette Soubirous. The Parish Priest received Bernadette on the 2nd March 1858. He received her with one of the Greatest RAGES of his life. ALL the Tact and popular appeal of Bishop Laurence, Who had long been silent , and four years of hard work were needed for him to RECONISE that the VIRGIN had appeared to Bernadette ( 18th Jan 1862) THE MESSAGE of LOURDES .

  • Medjugorje's Effects: a History of Local, State and Church Response
MEDJUGORJE'S EFFECT'S: A HISTORY OF LOCAL, STATE AND CHURCH RESPONSE TO THE MEDJUGORJE PHENOMENON Teresa M. Pangle A Thesis Submitted to the Graduate College of Bowling Green State University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of MASTER OF ARTS May 2011 Committee: Dr. Beth Greich-Polelle, Advisor Dr. Gary R. Hess ii ABSTRACT Dr. Beth Greich-Polelle, Advisor This thesis examines the impacts of the alleged appearances of the Virgin Mary which began in Medjugorje, Yugoslavia in 1981. Through the examination of primary sources such as Catholic Church and the United States Department of State documentation and eye-witness interviews, this study creates a basic history of the events in Medjugorje and clearly defines the Catholic Church’s position on these events. This thesis provides an academic history of the events surrounding Medjugorje and provides historical insight into the motivations behind the response of the local villagers and clergy members, the Yugoslavian state and the Vatican. The events studied include a carefully-documented history of the first two months of the apparitions, an account of the officially-atheistic, Yugoslavian government’s response to the subsequent religious outpouring, and a history of the Catholic Church’s response to the alleged apparitions up to the present day. The dispute of the authenticity of the apparitions of the Virgin Mary in Medjugorje - which is currently under investigation by the Catholic Church - is polarizing within Catholic culture. The historiography of these events is divided into two groups of “pro-authenticity” or “anti-authenticity” authors who publish opposing and even contradictory information while using the same sources.

  • February 2, 2020
Feast of the Presentation of the Lord Lumen ad revelationem gentium February 1-2, 2020 Readings: Malachi 3:1-4; Hebrews 2:14-18; Luke 2:22-40 You never know what is hiding in plain sight. Consider what was hanging above the hotplate in the kitchen of an elderly woman in Compiègne, France. In fact, the painting was authenticated as “Christ Mocked,” a masterpiece attributed to Cimabue, the 13th- century Italian forefather of the Italian Renaissance who painted the fresco of St. Francis of Assisi in the basilica, widely thought to be the saint’s best likeness. Her painting sold for a cool 24 M Euro! Have you ever wondered what’s on your bookshelf? In 1884, while rummaging through an obscure Tuscan monastery library, a scholar discovered a 22-page copy (dating from the 9th century) of a late 4th century travel diary detailing an extended pilgrimage to the Holy Land. The account was written by an intrepid woman named Egeria, whose curiosity was only matched by her deep piety. It reveals that early Christian worship was chock full of signs and symbols, including a liturgical year with Christmas, Epiphany, Lent, Easter and Pentecost. It also includes the earliest evidence of today’s feast.1 Talk about a barn find! She related that today’s feast: “is undoubtedly celebrated here with the very highest honor, for on that day there is a procession, in which all take part... All the priests, and after them the bishop, preach, always taking for their subject that part of the Gospel where Joseph and Mary brought the Lord into the Temple on the fortieth day.”2 Christ is indeed the Light of the Nations.

  • The Church and the Cinema: What Used to Be
The Church and the Cinema: What Used To Be By Joe Tremblay “A people who, in time of repose, give themselves to diversions which violate decency, honor, or morality, to recreations which, especially to the young, constitute occasions of sin, are in grave danger of losing their greatness and even their national power… …there does not exist today a means of influencing the masses more potent than the cinema…[it] teaches the majority of men more effectively than abstract reasoning…” Pope Pius XI, On the Cinema 1936 “But we may ask ourselves- do people go to the cinema or to church? Does not the cinema take the place that was formerly occupied by church and chapel? Has not Hollywood got a distinct ethic of its own which influences the minds of its audiences? Is this ethic in any sense Christian?” Christopher Dawson, Religion and Modern State 1935 Legion of Decency: The historic role the Catholic Church has played over the centuries in favor of freedom was that she mediated between the State and the citizen. By her moral influence, she restrained the overreaching power of civil authority from encroaching on the rights of citizens and those who could not defend themselves. With the same moral authority, the Church exercised a commanding influence on Hollywood during the twentieth century. The Legion of Decency, founded in 1933 by Archbishop of Cincinnati John T. McNicholas, was an organization behind this influence by opposing immoral or irreverent content. Pius XI: On the Cinema: In fact, Pope Pius XI in 1936, in his encyclical On the Cinema, commended the U.S.

The Holy See APOSTOLIC JOURNEY OF HIS HOLINESS JOHN PAUL II TO POLAND (MAY 31-JUNE 10, 1997) MESSAGE OF JOHN PAUL II TO THE POLISH BISHOPS Krakow, 10 June 1997 Dear Brothers in the Episcopal ministry! 1. I am pleased to avail myself of the opportunity offered by the great religious events taking place in Poland and involving the universal Church, to extend my fraternal greeting and convey a special word to you. In this way I wish to express my love for Christ's Church in our homeland, which the whole Polish Episcopal Conference, and each Bishop, cares for in a spirit of collegial responsibility. My pilgrimage began in Wrocław with my participation in the 46th International Eucharistic Congress. The meeting with Christ in his Mystery of infinite love and of unity, entrusted to the Church and to humanity in the Eucharistic Sacrifice, speaks to us with profound eloquence: it does so to Catholics as well as to all our Christian brothers and sisters, especially those present at the Congress. The whole Church in Poland had the opportunity to study and contemplate the mystery of the Eucharistic presence of Emmanuel - God with us (cf. Mt 1:23). For all of us it was a special experience of the truth about Christ who "is the same yesterday and today and for ever" (Heb 13:8). We can all draw from this life-giving source the strength and hope to continue to build on Polish soil a community of faith, a community of all who believe in Christ. Since this community is a unity in charity, it is always the fruit of sacrifice, of renouncing something for the sake of others, and the fruit of concern for the common good.

  • AMY M. GREEN University of Nevada, Las Vegas “MOTHER IS
AMY M. GREEN University of Nevada, Las Vegas “MOTHER IS GOD IN THE EYES OF A CHILD:” MARIOLOGY, REVELATION, AND MOTHERS IN SILENT HILL INTRODUCTION s a mainstream, video game-based horror offering, the film Silent Hill (Christoph Gans, 2006) surprises by straying from a safe and Astraightforward narrative. Instead of offering the requisite gory showdowns with the monstrous denizens of the Silent Hill franchise, although such elements certainly do exist, screenwriter Roger Avary offers a complex study of women through a lens of Mariology, the theological study of the Virgin Mary, and the women of the book of Revelation. This focus on hyperdulia, “the ecclesiastical term for the special veneration given to the Virgin Mary,”1 lends symbolic weight especially to the female characters who anchor the film. Further still, the film explores the dichotomy of Mary, Mother of Jesus, and Mary Magdalene. These two women, arguably the two closest to Jesus, offer a further insight of the dichotomies of mother and whore, and of the forgiver and the penitent. The resulting narrative provides several distinct categories of mothering, and the specific ties such forms have to the veneration of the Virgin Mary. The first of these categories has to do with adoptive mothers who, thought they lack a biological connection to their children, feel no less love toward them, and evokes a larger sense of maternal love akin to that the Virgin Mary is most known for, especially within the Catholic church, a deep love for humankind. The second concerns biological motherhood. In relation to the film, this is explored through a mother who betrays her child by giving that daughter over to members of her cult who she surely must suspect will do her harm, then waiting until too late to intervene on her behalf.
