As the lease on the building was coming up to its expiry date, Sime Darby elected not to renew the lease on the GAP premises and vacated the dealership and service centre to Insurance the location in Ellerslie, citing concern for the health and safety of its employees and customers. The company was not willing to renew the lease and operate in the Ngaire Street premises while work was being carried out.
