From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (Redirected from Rocky balboa) Robert "Rocky" Balboa, Sr. (b. July 6, 1945) is a fictional Rocky Balboa athlete, portrayed by Sylvester Stallone who has appeared in the Rocky series from 1976 to 2006. He is famous for being extremely tenacious and 'fighting with his heart', as his trainer Mickey Goldmill famously intones. His style, endurance, determination, and pleasant personality greatly resemble the real life heavyweight champion, Rocky Marciano, even though the creation of the character was directly inspired by Chuck Wepner. He embodies the rugged tenacity often associated with the people of his native Philadelphia.
