In Memoriam Join the Lettermen’s Association in offering our sympathies to the friends and families of the following Mustangs who have passed away:

Herschel Forester (1931 – 2018) - Herschel Forester was the captain of the SMU football team and earned All-Southwest Conference accolades. He graduated in 1952 with his Bachelors of Business Administration. After graduating, he served in the US Air Force in the Office of Special Investigations and was captain of the football team at Hamilton Air Force Base. Following his stint in the Air Force, he continued to play football with the Cleveland Browns from 1954-1957.

George Reynolds III (1934 - 2019) - George Reynolds III attended SMU as a member of the Men's Swimming and Diving team. At SMU, George was a Southwest Conference Champion swimmer and a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. Upon graduating with a business degree he was commissioned as a lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. He was honored by the SMU Lettermen’s Association with the 2001 Silver Anniversary Mustang Award and the SMU Distinguished Alumni award in 2001.

Steven Strange (1939 - 2019) - Steve Strange was a two-time SMU graduate receiving an undergraduate and law degree. Steve had an illustrious basketball career for the Mustangs by averaging a double-double as a junior and 19.1 points and 8.8 rebounds as a senior. After his time at SMU, Steve drafted by the Chicago Zephyrs but declined to pursue a career in law.
