Victoria “Tori” Alexander Class of 2011

Tori Alexander is best known for her accomplishments in Track and Field, however, she was an outstanding all-around student-athlete. In addition to track, Tori lettered and earned All League and Most Valuable Player Awards in varsity soccer and participated in junior varsity and . Tori was eventually named as the Vito DiCesare Outstanding BHS Female Senior Athlete. During her career, Tori was the school, league and county record holder in the 55, 60 and 100 meter dashes. She qualified for the NYS Indoor and Spring Track and Field Championships in five events; eventually being a state runner-up in three events. In her junior and th senior years, she made her mark at the state championships. In the Indoor Championships, Tori placed 7 ​ and nd th nd ​ th 2 ​ in the 55 meter dash and in the Spring Championships, she placed 6 ​ and 2 ​ in the 100 meter dash and 5 ​ nd ​ t​ h th​ and 2 ​ in the 200 meter dash respectively. In Tori’s senior year, she placed 15 ​ in the 60 meter dash and 17 ​ ​ ​ in the 200 meter dash at the National High School Championships.

Tori was named Poughkeepsie Journal Female Winter and Spring Track Athlete in 2010 and 2011. She earned All League and Most Valuable Player honors for three years. At the NYS Championships in 2011, Tori earned Section One’s Sportsmanship Award. For Tori’s accomplishments, she earned an NCAA Track Scholarship to Northeastern University.

th At Northeastern University, Tori ran indoor and spring track for the Huskies. She currently ranks 8 ​ in the 60 th ​ rd meter dash and 7 ​ in the 200 meter dash. Tori was a member of the 4x100 Relay team that placed 3 ​ in the ​ ​ 2012 New England Championships. Tori also placed and scored points in the 200 meter dash and 4X400 meter Relay in Northeastern’s 2014 and 2015 New England Team Championships.

Tori Alexander can be considered one of the elite track athletes that Beacon High School has produced.

Tori Kerr Class of 2012

Tori Kerr is the first girls lacrosse player to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. She also becomes the first granddaughter of a Hall of Fame inductee, Pat Kerr.

Tori was on the inaugural Girls Lacrosse team in 2008. Tori played four years where she set the standard for girls lacrosse. In her senior year, Tori led Dutchess County in scoring with 80 goals. She was named All League and All Section and was a Poughkeepsie Journal All Star.

Despite having played competitive lacrosse for only four years, Tori drew interest from colleges to play at the next level. Tori went on to be a four year starter at Division III . As a freshman, Tori was in the top three in points, goals, assists and draws. As a junior, she scored 63 goals and 7 assists. It was during her junior and senior years where she was named team captain. As a junior, she posted 66 points, 56 goals and 10 assists and, as a senior, led the MAC Freedom Conference in assists with 31 and ranked second in points with 81 and third in goals with 50. Tori was named All MAC Freedom Conference three times. At the conclusion of her career at Wilkes University, Tori was at the top of every offensive statistical career category.

Tori’s amazing high school and college lacrosse career earned her the distinction of being named as a Hall of Fame inductee.

Chelsea Dexter Class of 2012

Chelsea was a three sport athlete having earned varsity letters in , basketball and softball. It is Chelsea’s accomplishments in softball that she is being inducted into the Hall of Fame. Chelsea and her sister Kristen, become the second pair of sisters to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Chelsea was a four year starter for the Bulldogs as a left fielder, second baseman and eventually, a catcher in her senior year, where she became the first Beacon High School softball player to earn first team All State honors. As a senior, Chelsea led the softball team to its first League and Section One Championship since 1989. During that memorable season, Chelsea hit .409 with 7 home runs, 32 RBI, 30 runs scored and .851 slugging percentage. Chelsea earned All League and All Section awards and was named team MVP and a Poughkeepsie Journal All Star.

Upon graduation, Chelsea took her athleticism to college. At Dutchess Community College Chelsea played volleyball and softball. In softball, she led the team in batting average, slugging percentage, runs batted in and on base percentage. As a catcher, Chelsea was ranked 1st in DIII NJCAA for throwing runners out and during her two years at DCC, the team played in the national tournament where she was named to the All-tournament team and All Regional Team. As a freshman, she was the team’s most valuable player. At Mount Saint Mary College, Chelsea was a two year starter where she led the team in batting average as a senior. While at Mount Saint Mary, the softball team won two conference championships.

1983 and 1984 Girls Spring Track and Field

The 1983 and 1984 Girls Track and Field teams were undefeated in dual meets and won the League Class B Championships.

The team had an impressive nine girls selected as All League including Beacon’s first female All America, Dorothy Vereen, who set four Section One records and was a New York State Champion.

In 1984, the 4X100 meter Relay team of Dorothy Vereen, Rahmah Gray, Christina Rama, Della Porter and Sonia Johnson was ranked 9th in the East Coast by the USA Today track poll. The relay team placed 6th at the Penn Relays, and came in 2nd at the New York State Meet. The relay team ran a 48.9, which was a Dutchess County record.

Brynne Ortquist was the region’s top high jumper at 5 foot - 6 inches. She set the county record and was undefeated in competition.

To this day, the 4x100 meter Relay accomplishments, Dorothy Vereen’s All American selection and the 1983 and 1984 team championships, rank among Beacon’s most prestigious and finest team accomplishments in Track and Field. Dorothy and the Relays team have been previously inducted into the Hall of Fame.
