45 Travelogue from Skandi Neptune

2010 has been a year full of challenges and new experiences for Hydrostatic Top Kill the crew of Skandi Neptune witch is on chart for Subsea7. The year started busy with projects like Atlantis, Droshky, and an unscheduled dry dock. This was followed by a quiet period alongside Mobile Alabama. All sailors know the expression; “Quiet before the storm”, and what a “storm” it turned out to be. On April the 20th, the drill rig Deep Water Horizon exploded. 11 persons were killed and 17 injured. The Macondo oil well was out of control. Skandi Neptune was only a few miles away and went over to assist. The vessel was among the first on scene and helped in search and rescue. The 22nd of April, the Deep Water Horizon sank, and Neptune was quickly mobilized to assist in monitoring and try to control the well. DOF Management Argentina

The year 2010 has seen some changes in DOF Argentina, with the arrival of Gustavo Nordenstahl as General Manager, as well as of Mauro Ferrantelli as responsible for Purchasing. The former manager, Daniel Karp has decided to go back to sea, which he has done quite a lot lately on board Skandi Patagonia as DPO. The former position in Purchasing was performed by Lando Verardo, who has left DOF to concentrate on finishing his engineering graduate course at the university. We are planning a happy hour on board Gustavo´s boat early next month to celebrate the end of the winter and the arrival of warm weather, to which also the local shore staff of diving sub contractor Mohn Drilling AS have been invited, together with the Master of Skandi Patagonia that happens to be on shore leave.
