He laid the foundation stone of the Dow Medical College in December 1945. 58 YEARS LATER Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan Present Governor of Sindh. Established Dow University of Health Sciences Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan took the initiative for the establishment of the Dow University of Health Sciences. He is a Dow Graduate. He was appointed as Governor of Sindh in 2002 and ever since is striving to upgrade the facilities of medical education and health care in Sindh. HIS EFFORTS WERE CROWNED BY THE ESTABLISHMENT OF DOW UNIVERSITY OF HEALTH SCIENCES IN DECEMBER 2003 Dow University of Health Sciences, Karachi-Pakistan 07 Prospectus Postgraduate Studies PROF. MASOOD HAMEED KHAN Tamgha-e-Imtiaz Founding Vice Chancellor Dow University of Health Sciences, Karachi Dow University of Health Sciences is one of the most renowned educational institutions of Pakistan. Since its establishment in December 2003, the University has been the fastest growing medical institution of the country. The University has the distinction of being the largest medical University of the country with more than twenty separate institutes which are providing education to about 7000 students. PROF. Sunscreen has been shown to reduce the risk of certain skin cancers such as squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma. We aimed to assess the prevalence and predictors of sunscreen use among medical students in Karachi. Methods A multi-center cross-sectional study was conducted among 578 students from multiple medical universities in Karachi, Pakistan. The levels of use of sunscreen were recorded using a comprehensive questionnaire consisting of 29 questions. Descriptive statistics were used and p-values less than 0.05 calculated using the chi-square test were considered significant. Results A majority (n=441, 73.9%) of the participants in this study were female students. Sunscreen use was prevalent in 415 (69.5%) participants.

The study was a cross sectional University London, Senior Lecturer study. Study duration was six months. Participants included 300 medical Pharmacology Department, Bahria University Medical & Dental College students from first year to final year MBBS of Bahria University Medical and Karachi, Pakistan Dental College. Depression, anxiety and stress levels were assessed using the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale, followed by 24 hour dietary recall. The 2MBBS Bahria University Medical and scale included twenty one questions combined as three separate scales, Dental College Karachi, House Officer, measuring depression, anxiety and stress levels. SPSS version 23 was used Civil Hospital Hyderabad, Pakistan for statistical analysis. Participants having normal weight were 119(39.66%) 3MBBS Bahria University Medical and and overweight was 98(32.66%). Mean weight of participants was 64.72± Dental College Karachi, House Officer, 12.3. The mean height was 163.08± 9.17 and the mean value for body mass JPMC Karachi, Pakistan index was 24.455± 3.26. Majority of the participants 171 (55.5%) reported 4 having more than eleven servings of bread, cereal, rice and pasta group.

Due to its impact on a child’s mental and social health, it is important to determine the prevalence of this condition among a population. Therefore, the aim of our study is to evaluate its prevalence and associated risk factors among children living in rural areas of Sindh province, Pakistan. Methods Fifteen-hundred children aged between three and 12 years of age who lived in rural areas of Sindh and visited a tertiary care hospital for various complaints were selected at random. Their parents were asked to fill in a questionnaire regarding the symptoms and risk factors of NE. The data were gathered over a period of three months, starting from June 2019 to August 2019. The data were then analyzed to draw associations between the findings. Results Out of the total 1500 participants, 570 (38%) were male and the remaining 930 (62%) were female.

An anonymous, self-reported questionnaire was distributed among the subjects. Convenient sampling technique was used. Demographic information, including age, gender and field of study, were obtained. Depresion was evaluated via Centre for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale. SPSS 22 was used to analyse data.

SUMMARY. An HPLC isocratic pump with UV-VIS detector attached with C18 guard column and C18 column (HiChrom, 250 mm × 4.6 cm) was used. Mobile Phase consisted of 80% NaH2PO4 and 20% ace- tonitrile with pH adjusted to 3 with ortho-phosphoric acid. The flow rate was maintained at 1 mL/min and the wavelength was set at 293 nm having the retention time was 9-12 min. The calibration curve was de- rived by plotting the peak area versus concentration range of 0.039-20 μg/mL was found to be linear (r2 = 0.9953). Limit of detection (LOD) and lower limit of quantification (LLOQ) of the method were 1.2 and 4.8 ng/mL, respectively. Absolute recovery of gatifloxacin from plasma was in the range 96.121-97.129%, The developed method being simple, rapid and reproducible can be suitably employed in pharmacokinetic and bioequivalence studies of gatifloxacin.
