Castrillo de la Vega, Spain 23/30 August -Youth Exchange- [email protected] Brisa Intercultural Brisa Intercultural is a youth organization based in Burgos. Since our foundation in 2019, we have developed local and international projects with the aim of promoting values such as democracy, solidarity, cooperation and teamwork among young people. Brisa has been built on pillar values, which we try to include in all our activities, projects and initiatives: solidarity, access to knowledge, empathy and cooperation. In Brisa we want to create a sense of European identity in young people and encourage them to be active citizens while providing non-formal education opportunities for young people in international contexts. What is newsfakers? Over time, the media have been very important in providing the information that allows citizens to build their own perspectives on the society in which they live. Through the acquisition of that information, citizens can participate effectively in democratic society, not only contributing their particular points of view but also sharing and discussing society with other people. Today, the Internet has increased the information and variety of news available, but it has also changed the way in which citizens interact, access and engage with the news. Newsfaker wants to respond to the needs of the volunteers to learn how to make better use of social networks and increase their knowledge about them. The main goal of this project is to empower young people and provide them with tools and techniques to address misinformation and develop a positive and safe engagement with social media and media. In addition, among our goals are also to be able to provide young people with knowledge about social media, fake news, hate speech and misinformation, the promotion of critical thinking skills among participants and the development of the skills on how to use social media effectively and safely.
