Derfor har V i sit udspil »Et effek- tivt værn mod udenlandske kriminelle« foreslået en række tiltag for at dæmme op for denne udvikling, som V anser for at være et udtryk for, at det nuværende strafniveau på mellem 10 dages og 2 måneders fængselsstraf for førstegangstilfælde ikke er tilstrækkeligt til at afskrække udlændinge med indrejseforbud fra at overtræde dette. V ønsker, at lovgivningen indrettes, så den i så mange tilfælde som muligt sætter myndighederne i stand til at hjemsende udenlandske kriminelle til afsoning i hjemlandet. Partiet er desuden indstillet på at gennemgå reglerne om prøveløsladelse af kriminelle udlændinge og at gøre ulovligt ophold til en skærpende omstændighed ved strafudmålingen.

Udvalgsarbejdet Lovforslaget blev fremsat den 5. februar 2013 og var til 1. behandling den 21. februar 2013. Lovforsla- get blev efter 1. behandling henvist til behandling i Europaudvalget. Møder Udvalget har behandlet lovforslaget i 1 møde. Spørgsmål Udvalget har stillet 3 spørgsmål til europaministeren til skriftlig besvarelse, som denne har besvaret. 2. Indstillinger og politiske bemærkninger Udvalget indstiller lovforslaget til vedtagelse uændret. Dansk Folkepartis medlemmer af udvalget støtter lovforslaget. DF respekterer Kroatiens ønske om at blive en del af EU og anerkender, at optagelsesprocessen vedrørende Kroatien har fungeret bedre og med bedre kontrol af, at der er blevet gennemført reelle reformer i ansøgerlandet, end vi har oplevet i forbindelse med tidligere optagelsesprocesser. Det er naturligvis positivt, at man har lært af de kedelige erfaringer fra eksempelvis Rumæniens og Bulgariens optagelse, hvor de to lande opnåede medlemskab af EU, inden de reelt var klar til det. Det ændrer dog ikke på, at Dansk Folkeparti mener, at der i forbindelse med optagelse af nye medlems- lande i EU, herunder således også Kroatien, bør være en række overgangsforanstaltninger, der tjener til at sikre en mere reel og rimelig beskyttelse af bl.a. det danske arbejdsmarked og de danske sociale ydelser, end vi har oplevet det i forbindelse med tidligere udvidelser. Det danske arbejdsmarked er blevet sat under pres af vandrende arbejdstagere fra de nye medlemslan- de, som ofte arbejder til en væsentlig lavere løn end den overenskomstmæssige og ofte også arbejder under dårligere vilkår.

But Danish politics and society are in fact quite complex: Why does the Danish parliament consist of no less than 8 parties? How can a parliamentary system function with almost permanently minority governments? What’s left and right in Danish politics, and where is the center? Why do Danes act the way they do, and how do you break the code? Are the Danish political values still Danish, and what was the background leading up to and after “the Cartoon Crisis” and the terrorist attack in February 2015? Why does it seem that the welfare state is quite efficient in the globalized competition in spite of increasing challenges of high taxes, large public expenditures, and the need to provide the services the public demands? Stewart, 1945, p. 3 2 I Preface After a bit more than a year, I can hereby present my master’s thesis. It’s about a name. Around 100 pages about a name: I could not have thought it would be such an extensive topic. Last year I had heard about Macedonia, or the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, as it was often called. I didn’t know it that well, just that it used to be part of Yugoslavia, obviously. An item in the news, however, triggered my interest: the country was about to change its name to North Macedonia. ‘Why?’ I thought. I didn’t know about the name dispute, but the more I read about it, the more I wanted to know. When I had to choose a subject for my master’s thesis, I knew I would look at this name change. A year later, I think I understand the name change and the dispute better. Still, the topic is more complicated than I thought. Understanding everything there is about it would probably take a lot more time.
