September 26, 2005 Bezeq issues special Telecard in memory of the 11 athletes murdered at the Munich Olympics

Bezeq and the Olympic Committee have cooperated in the issue of a special Telecard to commemorate the eleven Israeli athletes who were murdered at the Olympic Games in Munich in 1972. The face of the card shows a picture of the Israeli delegation at the opening ceremony, and the reverse side are the names of the 11 murdered athletes. The Telecard, which went on sale in August, is for 50 units and sells for 28 shekels.

On 28 September 2005, the 33rd anniversary of the tragic event (according to the Hebrew date), the card will be displayed at the State ceremony organized by the Olympic Committee, which will take place at the memorial site in Weizmann Street, Tel Aviv. A framed photograph of the card will be presented by Bezeq representatives to the athletes' families.

"Bezeq sees great importance in the commemoration of the Israeli athletes, as a social message," said Eldad Cohen, manager of the Marketing Department. "In 2004 more than 3 million Telecards were sold. Such widespread distribution is a good platform for disseminating important social messages relating to the Israeli experience."

On 5 , eight Black September terrorists burst into the Israeli living quarters in the Olympic Village and sullied the Olympic flag by murdering 11 members of the Israeli delegation.
