The Class of Life - A Theatrical Experience Co-Sponsored by Friends of the Gold Coast Library Sunday, January 28th The Class of Life takes the audience on a journey highlighting one man's life. The story begins on the last day of his distinguished career as a police officer. This day gives way to reminiscing about his motivation to become a police officer, his proud Italian heritage, his upbringing, and married life. Utilizing a blend of humor, drama, and life experience, the actor takes his audience on an emotional roller coaster through his storytelling. This poignant presentation will surely touch the lives of those who value family, tradition, and comedy!

GOLD COAST MEMORIES Caps for Sale Esphyr Slobodkina (1908-2002) was a celebrated avant-garde artist and author. She was among the first female American artists to explore abstraction and the first to use collage in American storybooks. She is best known as the author and illustrator of the classic children's book Caps for Sale, which was first published in 1940 and has sold more than 2 million copies. Born in Siberia, Slobodkina studied art in Russia and China before immigrating to the United States in 1928. She resided in and Great Neck for many years before moving to Glen Head in 1999. Her new home became a mini-museum, where guests could view more than 200 works of art, handmade dolls and jewelry, and a complete collection of her children’s storybooks. The museum closed in 2012 but the Slobodkina Foundation continues to build upon her creative achievements.
