Abstract• The corixid Micronecta griseola is reported for the first time from The Netherlands from three different loca¬ lities in the northeastern part of the country. Biological and distributional data are summarised from the literature. B Aukema, Sectie Entomologie, Plantenziektenkundige Dienst, Postbus 9102, 6700 HC Wagenmgen. B. van Maanen, Zuiveringschap Limburg, Afdeling Waterkwaliteitsbeheer, Postbus 314, 6040 AH Roermond. D. J. Hennes, Drossaardstraat 24, 5663 ER Geldrop. Ph. J. Zeinstra, Idzardaweg 36a, 8476 EL Ter Idzard. Natural England Commissioned Report NECR188 A review of the Hemiptera of Great Britain: The Aquatic and Semi-aquatic Bugs Dipsocoromorpha, Gerromorpha, Leptopodomorpha & Nepomorpha Species Status No.24 First published 20 November 2015 www.gov.uk/natural -england Foreword Natural England commission a range of reports from external contractors to provide evidence and advice to assist us in delivering our duties. The views in this report are those of the authors and do not necessarily represent those of Natural England. Background Making good decisions to conserve species should primarily be based upon an objective process of determining the degree of threat to the survival of a species. The recognised international approach to undertaking this is by assigning the species to one of the IUCN threat categories. This report was commissioned to update the national status of aquatic and semi-aquatic bugs using IUCN methodology for assessing threat. It covers all species of aquatic and semi-aquatic bugs (Heteroptera) in Great Britain, identifying those that are rare and/or under threat as well as non-threatened and non-native species. Reviews for other invertebrate groups will follow. Natural England Project Manager - Jon Webb, [email protected] Contractor - A.A. Cook (author) Keywords - invertebrates, red list, IUCN, status reviews, Heteroptera, aquatic bugs, shore bugs, IUCN threat categories, GB rarity status Further information This report can be downloaded from the Natural England website: www.gov.uk/government/organisations/natural-england. • Változások a Hazai Vízi És Vízfelszíni Poloskafaunában Az Első Fajlistáktól Napjainkig
Korunkban a biodiverzitás csökkenésé- nek a természetes élőhelyek eltűnése, változása a fő oka. In a catalogue prepared on the Hentiptera of the Massimiliano Spinola Collection in the Torino Museum, Italy, 16 species were placed under the generic name Corixa, and two under the generic name Sigara. This is the first reliable record of the species in Slovenia. KEY WORDS: Heteroptera, Corixidae, Micronecta, fauna, Slovenia Izvleœek - MICRONECTA POWERI (DOUGLAS & SCOTT) V SLOVENIJI (HETEROPTERA: CORIXIDAE) Micronecta poweri (Douglas & Scott, 1869), vrsta pritlikave veslavke, je bila naj- dena v potoku Viønjica pri Krki v preddinarskem obmoœju Slovenije. KLJUŒNE BESEDE: Heteroptera, Corixidae, Micronecta, favna, Slovenija Species of the genus Micronecta are the smallest water bugs. Usually they are included in the family Corixidae (water boatmen), but Nieser (2002) put them in their own family Micronectidae due to several morphological differences. Their behaviour is also different from other corixids in many respects. They are found in stagnant or slowly flowing waters, usually along shores with little (or without) veg- etation. They live in small to very large swarms. Their food is not known, but they can be kept alive just with fresh bottom material from their habitats (Jansson, 1986). They breathe the oxygen dissolved in water and do not come for the air to the sur- face. So they cannot live in oxygen-poor waters and are hard-hit by pollution. They overwinter as larvae and reach the adult stage in early summer.

Warszawa, 30.12.2003 46 131-149 E ugeniusz BlESIADKA and Alicja KURZĄTKOWSKA Water bugs ( Heteroptera ) of Neman River, some of its tributaries and riverine reservoirs Abstract: In the middle flow region of Neman River, Belarus, 34 species of water bugs have been found to occur. The commonest species observed is Micronecta griseola HORV., followed by Gerris lacustris (L.), Ilycoris cimicoides (L.) and Sigara falleni (FlEB.). Five species have been recorded as new to Belarus: Micronecta grise ola, Sigara fallenoidea HUNG., Notonecta macidata F a b r ., Velia saulii T a m . and Gerris thoracicus SCHUMM. From the River Neman proper, 24 water bug species have been reported, 25 in old river beds, 23 in larger tributar ies, 12 in small tributaries and 8 in each type of water body, intermittent and others. Strong relations be tween the faunas of Heteroptera of Neman River and its old river beds as well as larger tributaries are em phasized. Only 40 spe cies have been recorded there so far (LuKASHUK 1997), of which 10 are known solely from older publications. The studies conducted in Belarus after World War II focused mainly on the problem of eco-physiology of selected species (M O RO Z 1989a, 1989b, 1989c, 1989d, 1989e), whereas very few papers dealt with faunistic issues (M O RO Z 1989f, 1991, 1995, M oroz, M ukhin 1994, L u k a s h u k 1991, Rozenzweig 1995).

Ilyocoris cimicoides and Gerris argentatus were the most frequent aquatic and semiaquatic species, respectively. Large differences both in the species number and species composition were observed among the different flood-prevention areas, arm systems and habitats. Strong negative correlation was found between the average number of aquatic species and current velocity, and a strong positive correlation between the average number of aquatic and semiaquatic species and macrophyte density. From a faunistic point of view, the marsh at Arak is the most interesting and valuable site. • Insecta: Hemiptera) Berend Aukema
Recent changes in the Dutch Heteroptera fauna (Insecta: Hemiptera) Berend Aukema Abstract At present 610 species of Heteroptera are recorded from the Netherlands. The database of the Dutch bureau of the European Invertebrate Survey currently includes about 130 000 Dutch records (combi- nations of locality and species). The records, however, are strongly biased towards aquatic and semi- aquatic species (72 761 records of 64 species = 1137 records/species) in comparison with terrestrial species (55 375 records of 545 species = 101 records/species). Although since about 1850 there have always been Dutch heteropterists, collecting efforts show large differences in time and place and it is for instance easy to locate both residences and favourite holiday resorts of heteropterists from the dis- tribution maps. Local faunas are not static but dynamic and changes in the Dutch Heteroptera fauna were analysed for the period since 1960 and especially before and since 1980. A number of 571 species (93.6% of the Dutch species listed) have been recorded since 1960 and 510 of these (83.6%) have been recorded regularly since 1960 and are considered ‘resident species’. The changes documented for the period 1980-2002 concern 61 species: 27 new arrivals, 27 species rediscovered after not having been record- ed in the period 1960-1980, and 7 species not recorded since 1980. From these data it is concluded that the turnover of species since 1980 (61 of 571 species) has been 10.7%. New arrivals (27) outnumber the extinctions (seven). Turnover of species of local faunas is considered a natural process (species come and go continuously), but it is also clear that habitat changes, international trade and global warming have contributed largely to the observed changes in the Dutch fauna.
