Diana is an Executive Member of Community Board 9, the American Society of Public Administration, and the Progressive Democrats Political Association. Her son, Isaac Bowen Jr., is 11 years old and according to Richardson, is her greatest accomplishment. On the Issues… ★ YOUTH ★ As a working mother of an eleven year-old son, Diana Richardson is passionate about investing in our youth. She believes that we need to provide young people with positive, character-building opportunities. Such outlets will allow our young men and women to direct their energy towards self-development, so that they will realize their full potential. If elected to represent the 43rd Assembly District in Albany, Diana Richardson will advocate for greater funding of local programs that offer mentoring, sports, arts, tutoring and academic support, and career preparation services. This will help ensure that every young person will contribute to the growth of our community. ★ SENIORS ★ Diana Richardson, a Crown Heights native, feels strongly that our seniors are the pillars of the community and should be well taken care of when it comes to their needs and concerns. Our elders have devoted their lives to uplifting the community, and so they should not be disregarded or unappreciated. Diana is active in reaching out to the senior community to hear what they feel needs to be fixed as well as preserved. As our next Assembly Member, Diana Richardson will support increasing the resources available to seniors, such as community centers, medical benefits, and rent increase exemptions. ★ AFFORDABLE HOUSING FOR ALL ★ Diana opposes community development that would bring in expensive, luxury housing. This type of development would change the environmental composition of the district and make the area less affordable for residents. At city planning meetings, Diana is vocal about protecting the area from development that is not accountable to the community. Diana prioritizes community inclusion and empowerment when making development decisions. If elected as Assembly Member of the 43rd District, Diana Richardson will continue to work hard to have the voices of residents heard on these matters.
