Fresh Fresh Pond is a beautiful 2.5-mile dirt path loop around the Fresh Pond Reservoir. The loop has a large concrete path with a small dirt path to its side. The run to and around is very flat. This run offers a great mix of road and dirt trail run- ning, as the beginning part of this run is a mix of road and river trail. Fresh Pond is about 3.5 mlies from the Track & Tennis Center and a nine mile total when only running one loop.

Brookline Reservoir A quick 2.5 miles of road running from the Track & Tennis Center is the Brookline Reservoir. This reservoir is 1500m around and the perfect place for cross country workouts. The path around this reservoir is made of a soft dirt that is very flat. Down the street is Fischer Hill, which is a fairly steep and slightly windy quiet road that is perfect for hill repeats.

Chestnut Hill Reservoir Only a mile away from the Brookline Reservoir and about 2.5 hilly miles from the Track & Tennis Center is the Chestnut Hill Reservoir, or as we like to call it given its distance from College, the BC Res. This reservoir is a 1.55-mile loop similar to the Brookline Reservoir. This dirt path is great for tempos and long repeats. Heading from this res to Brookline or vise versa is a classic team run we call “Res to Res.” where we train

Heartbreak Hill Known for its place in the Boston Marathon, just four miles away from the Track & Tennis Center you’ll find Boston’s most famous hill. Found along Commonwealth Avenue, this is a great place to run to if you’re incorporating hills in to you medium long or long runs. Although it is not very steep, this hill is quite long.

Charles River (West and East) The offers over 10-plus miles of trail that can be looped back to either the Cambridge side or Boston side for 20-plus miles of running. This trail follows a bike path with a dirt path to its side. Whether you’re heading east towards Boston or west towards Watertown, the Charles River is the most popular running spot in the city. With multiple bridge turn-offs, you can run your short, regular, medium long, and long runs along here.

Jamaica Pond Although this run begins on the roads of Brookline, there are many dirt trails throughout this run. In order to get to Jamaica Pond, you first have to run to the Muddy River Pathway, about 1.5 miles from the Track & Tennis Center. Although there are a few road crossings, you are able to run on about 1.5 miles of trail before hitting Jamaica Pond, which is a bit under a 1.5-miles loop. The Fens Located in the area, The Fens is about 1.5 miles from the Track & Tennis Center through BU’s South Campus. The Fens is a small trail area of all dirt paths. It runs by some of the other local colleges and has its own public track. The Fens is part of Boston’s ,which connects to the Muddy River Pathway, Jamaica Pond, and .

Franklin Park About 2.5 miles from Jamaica Pond and about five miles from the Track & Tennis Center is Franklin Park. Not only home to a great cross country course, Franklin Park offers many dirt trails that loop around the back end of the golf course as well as through the cross country course. This park has dirt, road, and grass. There are some hills and flat areas. This park is home to many cross country races.

The race course begins on a flat field, goes up a small hill and back around to the field all on grass. From there, it’s to Bear Cage Hill. This hill is a steep, windy dirt hill about 1.5 miles into the race. After heading down the hill, it’s back to the grass field and then off to the back woods known as the wilderness. Although this part is relatively flat, the small gradual inclines will tire you out. This part of the course is dirt as well. where we train

Track & Tennis Center Regarded as one of the fastest indoor tracks in the country, the Track & Tennis Center houses a 200m, six-lane banked track. Many American records have been set on this track, including women’s 1000m set by Mary Cain and the men’s two-mile and 5000m set by Galen Rupp. BU hosts a number of competitions which attract athletes from all over the country who come here because of great competition and a fast facility.

At our 2018 David Hemery Valentine Invitational, Edward Cheserek of Kenya ran the second-fastest indoor mile of all time at 3:49.44 in front of raucous crowd.

Minute Man National Park About a 30-minute drive from BU is the Battle Road Trail and the Minute Man National Park. Battle Road is a small part of the Minute Man National Park. The Battle Road section is about a 10-mile long dirt path that offers both flat and hilly sections. This trail is part of the larger Minute Man trail that travels from Cambridge to Bedford. This trail can connect the Battle Road trail to where many more side trails can be found.
