OFFICE OF LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR 240 STATE CAPITOL ATLANTA, GEORGIA 30334 GEOFF DUNCAN LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR Lt. Governor’s Legislative Internship The Office of Lt. Governor Geoff Duncan is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Legislative Intern during the 2021 Legislative Session. This internship is open to all college students who have completed three (3) semesters of their undergraduate degree program and are interested in experiencing the legislative process. The intern will assist office staff in various duties and will report to the Director of External Affairs, Collins Udekigbo. Below are some of the tasks that are typically required; other tasks may be assigned by office staff at any time: Perform administrative office duties such as answering phones, delivering notices, making copies, and answering constituent letters/email. Attend committee meetings and assist staff by performing tasks needed during those meeting (note taking, bill status updates, etc.) Assist staff with research on various issues and legislation Monitor office social media, search engine results, and put together daily press clips Track legislation with office bill tracking software (Jira) Attend functions with staff as needed. All job functions are located at the State Capitol in Atlanta, Georgia, and the position may require limited travel within the city. Interns are expected to be available for extended work hours during the entire Legislative Session. The session generally runs from the first week in January until sometime in April. About the Office of the Lt. Governor: The Georgia State Senate is comprised of 56 elected Senators and approximately 80 fulltime staff members. The Lt. Governor serves as the President of the Senate and presides over the business of the chamber. The Senate and the House of Representatives jointly comprise the Georgia General Assembly, the legislative branch of the government of the State of Georgia. No agency or authority can incur debt or employ other financial or investment advisory counsel without Commission approval. The Financing and Investment Division (F&I Division) is respon sible for the issuance of general obligation bonds, the review of state authority debt financings, and the investment and ac counting of all general obligation bond proceeds. Investment earnings fund GSFIC’s operating budget, and also enable the Commission to retire state debt prior to maturity. The F&I Division prepares the State’s Debt Management Plan and monitors agency expenditures of bond proceeds for compliance with federal tax regulations.

ALABAMA Lt. Governor Will Ainsworth Lieutenant Governor Will Ainsworth is a father, husband, and small business owner from Marshall County. Prior to entering public service, he worked as a youth pastor at Albertville’s Grace Fellowship Church and was a co-founder of Dream Ranch, one of the most recognized hunting and fishing lodges in the United States. He currently operates the annual Tennessee Valley Hunting and Fishing Expo, which draws more than 20,000 attendees each year. In 2014, Lt. Gov. Ainsworth felt the call to serve his community through elected office and won a seat in the Alabama House of Representatives, where he was a champion of public education, farming, and family values issues. Keeping a self-imposed legislative term limit promise, Ainsworth declared his candidacy for lieutenant governor in 2018 and received the most votes of any candidate for constitutional office on the general election ballot. Ainsworth, who is committed to providing quality public education to Alabama’s schoolchildren, is a strong supporter of the state’s nationally-recognized “First Class” prekindergarten program, which provides young learners with the skills and foundational knowledge necessary to excel in their K – 12 education. Focusing his efforts as lieutenant governor on improving workforce development so that Alabamians may fill and retain long-lasting, well-paying, 21st Century jobs, he also works to promote policies that allow both new and existing industries to expand in Alabama.
