INTRODUCTION

Following two successful seasons promoting the F4UAE Championship powered by Abarth, AUH Motorsports is pleased to announce details of a third season which will begin in January 2019.

The 2019 F4UAE Championship will broadly follow the format of previous years but with a few subtle changes that have been introduced following team and driver feedback.

Principal changes include: • 5 rounds comprising of 4 races each round • Season will run from early January to early March 2019 • Following agreements with both German and Italian F4 promotors, all drivers may complete a full season in F4UAE in 2019 and retain their Rookie status for the European 2019 Championships • 2 back-to-back race weekends plus 1 standalone weekend • First two rounds will support the Creventic Prototype series and the prestigious Dubai 24 hours.

HISTORY OF F4UAE

In 2016, the F4UAE Championship powered by Abarth became the first official FIA-certified open-wheeler categoryto be introduced in the Middle East. Helping rookie drivers gain experience to be successful in the competitive European market, F4UAE has become the championship of choice for winter racing.

2016/2017 SEASON

Once the F4UAE season was complete, eight of the category’s drivers went on to make a name for themselves in European F4 championships during the 2017 summer.

Inaugural F4UAE champion Jonathan Aberdein finished ninth outright in ADAC Formel 4, along with Fabio Scherer who finished ahead in fifth.

Inaugural F4UAE Rookie of the Year, Logan Sargeant, finished third in British F4. However, it was Australian Oscar Piastri (#88) who impressed the most, finishing the highest of any former F4UAE driver headed overseas by coming second outright in the UK-based F4 championship.

2017/2018 SEASON

Belgium racer Charles Weerts (#88), who competed in the previous F4UAE season with Team Motopark (and who finished second in the rookie fight in ADAC Formel 4 during the summer) lead the championship from the first race. STRUCTURE OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP

The F4UAE Championship is based upon teams entering cars and drivers into the competition.

The Promotor is entirely independent from the teams and does not itself run cars in the Championship.

The Promoter will maintain a list of teams that have indicated an interest in supporting the Championship and will put drivers in contact with these teams, and teams in contact with drivers.

It is the responsibility of the teams and drivers to negotiate their own agreements between themselves . Drivers should note that each team will offer different levels of support services and prices charged by the teams will vary.

Eligibility

DRIVERS

The F4 UAE Championship is open to all drivers aged 15 years and above. Drivers must be in possession of an FIA National licence or above and all registered drivers are eligible to score Championship points and Driver awards. Teams may enter up to a maximum of 4 cars at each race weekend.

F4UAE Rookie drivers are classed as drivers that have not competed in a car race prior to October 1 2018.

TEAMS

All teams with an entrant’s licence are permitted to enter drivers into the F4UAE Championship and will be awarded points which correspond to the points scored by their highest placed drivers in each race.

Events

The 2019 F4UAE Championship will comprise of 20 CIRCUIT LAYOUTS races held over 5 rounds at Dubai Autodrome and Yas Marina Circuit.

The calendar, including official testing on the first day of each round, includes: 1. January 4-6, 2019 at Dubai Autodrome 2. January 9-11, 2019 at Dubai Autodrome 3. January 31-February 2, 2019 at Yas Marina Circuit 4. February 21-23, 2019 at Yas Marina Circuit 5. February 28-March 2, 2019 at Dubai Autodrome

A Sanctioned test day will be scheduled on the day preceding each event. Dubai Autodrome Grand Prix Circuit Track time available in 2019 includes: 5.39 km Sanctioned test day: 180mins (3 x 60mins) Official test day: 180mins (3 x 60mins) Race Day 1: 30mins Official Practice 20mins Qualifying 1 x 30mins Race Race Day 2: 3 x 30mins Races

Total track time available at each event equates to 530 minutes. Format may vary to suit event programs, as will the various circuit layout options available. Circuit configurations for each event will be confirmed in further regulations.

ENGINE - ABARTH FTJ 1.4 LITRE TURBO

The Abarth FTJ 1.4 litre turbo charged engine produces 160 bhp with 250 Newton metres of torque at 3,500 rpm. Engine management is by Magneti Marelli.

The engine is fitted with a dry sump lubrication system. Engine cooling relies on both air and water systems. The engine is extensively used in other Formula 4 Championships within Europe and has proved to be very reliable.

TYRES

The Official Supplier of tyres is Hankook. Only tyres provided by the Championship Supplier and purchased through the Organiser may be fitted. In order to avoid unnecessary expenditure during the Championship, tyre restrictions will apply as follows:

Sanctioned testing: maximum of 2 new sets in total and no restriction on used tyres. Official testing: maximum of 2 new sets in total and no restrictions on used tyres. FILMING, LIVE STREAMING & PHOTOGRAPHY

The Championship Promoter commits to increasing the media footprint of the F4UAE Championship - both within the MENA region and further abroad - via dedicated event-focused video content, photography and media services.

The Championship Promoter is actively seeking funds from sponsors in order to provide television coverage and/or live straming for the 2019 F4UAE Championship season, with the resulting coverage depending entirely on how successful these efforts are.

Notwithstanding the outcome of the efforts, race highlights in video form will be created for each event and a season highlights program be made available for distribution to television stations throughout the MENA region for airing locally. Additionally, Teams may request video highlights of their racing efforts (provided at cost) for distribution to their media contacts and for publishing on official team or network media channels.

The Championship Promotor and its media representatives will use the following social media channels to expand spectator interest in the championship:

CAR BRANDING

The Championship promoter will reserve certain positions on the cars to promote the Championship sponsors.

Apart from these reserved positions, Teams and Drivers are permitted to display sponsor logos as they see fit provided that such branding does not breach FIA and ATCUAE guidelines, and Championship regulations.

PRINT MEDIA

Press releases will be issued in Arabic and English to print media throughout the region. Such releases will include driver features, event previews and race reports. Teams requiring assistance to distribute their news can also request such help from the Championship promoter at cost.

Teams in the MENA region are required to purchase new cars through the promoter of the Championship.

Chassis and engines will be sold in accordance with the guidelines laid down by the FIA.

Prices for new cars can be obtained from the Championship Promoter.

TRANSPORT TO AND FROM EUROPE

European teams wishing to compete in the Championship are advised to contact the Championship Promoter for quotes to transport their cars and equipment at beneficial prices.

Containers used to transport cars and equipment will be offered free secure storage in the UAE for the duration of their stay. A small fee will be charged for transport of containers between circuits.

Details of transportation costs and arrangements will be available by 1 July, 2018. Prices for Fuel tyres and lubricants will be made available by 1 July, 2018.

COSTS OF ENTRY

The entry fee for the full 2018-2019 season is 52,500 AED, however, will be reduced to 40,000AED if paid before October 1, 2018. A single-event entry fee is 13,500AED.

The entry fee includes: sanctioned testing at the two Dubai events in January, official testing, practice, qualifying and all races. Sanctioned testing at the three remaining events are run by Dragon Racing and will be charged separately by them.

A registration fee of 2,000AED for drivers wishing to score points in the Championship will apply.
