For who hopes for what he sees?ʼ (Romans 8.24)

DID you know that you need hope? We all do. Swiss theologian M.L. Bruner said: ʻWhat oxy- gen is to the lungs, such is hope to the meaning of human life.ʼ Just as our physical bodies would die without oxygen, our spirit will suffocate without hope! In our culture, we hear a lot about love. We even hear a lot about faith. But we donʼt hear that much about hope. Yet from the very beginning, God provided hope. After Adam and Eve sinned and plunged the planet into pain, God gave a promise for a redeemer, a saviour. That hope is Jesus Christ! ʻFor unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord.ʼ (Luke 2.11) What do you need hope for today? Physical pain? Disease? Addiction? Depression? Bad habits? A broken heart? Whatever your need, Godʼs plan is to give you a future and a hope. Jesus Christ was sent to conquer pain and death, and to give hope. He is your Redeemer, your Hope. But just like the air you breathe, hope is an unseen promise. Find your hope in Jesus Christ today. – Dr. Jack Graham in PowerPoint, 17-12-08 NEW LIFE – 1 October 2009 – Page Twenty Five NEW LIFE EXTRA British Christian Nurse Ordered To Remove Confirmation Cross From Her Neck After Nearly 30 Years Of Service IN another strange case from the UK, a Christian nurse pital newsletters were exempted from the health and risk from Exeter, in the west of England, with nearly 30 years policy. All About Life TV commercial launches on 27 September http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-jGnTQDQj4

SUNDAY 27 September marks the final phase of the Jesus. All About Life campaign when the highly anticipated TV commercial will launch on primetime TV. The fresh, challenging TVC shows a series of paradoxes from real life and issues that are faced by people every day. The commercial deals with issues such as materialism, body image, loneliness, death and loss. Its aim is to show how Jesus is as relevant today as He ever was and prompts people to engage in a conversation about Jesus. The advert finishes with the line ‘Jesus has answers’ and invites the audience to visit www.allaboutlife.com.au to find out for themselves about the relevance of Jesus today. Co-founder of the Jesus. All about Life campaign and Bible Society NSW CEO, Daniel Willis, comments: ‘The new advert is designed to start conversations about the relevance of Jesus in a varied, cosmopolitan and multicul- tural society. The first and second stages of the campaign were engaging the public to say “Thank You” for things that they are grateful for in life through a viral campaign. We hope the TV commercial will show people the more serious aspects to life and start them thinking about how they may consider Jesus and His message.’ The adverts will be seen across Sydney and NSW on Channel 7, 9 and 10 stations and in all Hoyts cinemas. Jon McKie, Managing Director of 303, the agency which created the NSW campaign, comments: ‘The TV advert was designed to be more edgy and confrontational. We wanted to pose the questions that people face every day in their lives. In this way we hope the commercial connects with audience members prompting them to engage in a conversation with Jesus.’ More Sharia In Bande Aceh – Christians Concerned LAWMAKERS in Banda Aceh, Indonesia voted unanimously that adulterers can be sentenced to death by stoning. This comes just months after voters overwhelmingly threw conservative Islamic parties out of power. Paul Estabrooks with Open Doors says it appears to be a last ditch effort to get sharia law into the region. Estabrooks says he's concerned, especially for Muslims who give their hearts to Christ. ʻWhen people leave Islam, they become those worthy of death. Sharia actually pre- scribes death for them. If you accept one area of sharia law, then there's no reason for them not to accept another.ʼ Estabrooks says while the area is predominately Muslim, ʻSince the tsunami, the church in Banda Aceh has grown significantly, especially because of the care and love that was shown to the community by the Christians after the devastation of the tsunami.ʼ Pray that the church will continue to grow.
