2010/131 PROPOSED CLOSURE OF WILSDEN LIBRARY The purpose of the meeting was to enable the Parish Council to discuss and agree a line of action to prevent the closure of Wilsden Library the clerk circulated information received from Dame Margaret Eaton which she thought would be beneficial to the meeting, both Cllr’s Cooke and Ellis gave advice on who to contact with contact being made to both the Library Officers and the Officer in charge of the Chief Executive meetings to hopefully obtain permission to speak at their next meeting at the end of January. Cllr Cooke hoped to meet with the officer in charge of the closures within the next few days as a meeting had already been requested. A debate was held on whether or not a joint opposition be made by the Parish Council and the Village Hall or separate oppositions. Julie Petty stated that although the Village Hall would lose revenue which they could not afford to lose they were also like the Parish Council opposed to the closure due to the loss of a service to the users of the Village Hall in particular Pre-School and Lunch Club members. It was agreed for the time being that separate letters of opposition would be send to the various departments and officers of the Council and that a meeting would be requested with the necessary bodies, this meeting if possible at the Village Hall to which village hall management representative would be invited. The Chair of the meeting asked the clerk to put an item on the agenda for the meeting of the Parish Council on the 7th March 2011 to formulate a resolution to oppose the closure. Although Addingham also faced closure as yet they had not had a meeting to discuss their proposals although opposition would be made.
