Sencilla porque Max fue una personalidad polifacética cuya trayectoria íntegra, necesariamente, un buen trecho de la historia de nuestra patria. Podríamos hablar durante largas horas de sus dotes como abogado, maestro universitario, prolífico autor, ex Decano del Colegio de Abogados de Lima, conferencista, periodista, dirigente deportivo, codificador, político o embajador. Y compleja porque el discurso puede quedar breve para exaltar las muy altas calificaciones del homenajeado. Max, al igual que los autores de este ensayo, estudió en el Colegio de los Sagrados Corazones “Recoleta”, donde ostentó inexorablemente el premio de excelencia de su clase, y aunque también parezca una paradoja, fue el atleta más distinguido del colegio en aquellas épocas. Parecía incompatible, aunque el caso de Max fue una de las pocas excepciones que confirman la regla, la conjunción de galardones académicos y atléticos. Max Arias- Schreiber, desde que se graduó de Abogado en la Facultad de Derecho de la Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, en el año 1950, ejerció su profesión con singular brillo, alcanzando el más alto cargo al que un abogado puede aspirar, esto es el de Decano del Ilustre Colegio de Abogados de Lima, durante los años 1981 y 1982. Desde el año 1956 se inicia en la cátedra de la misma Facultad de Derecho que lo había formado, como un destacado maestro de Derecho Civil, habiendo sido distinguido por la misma Universidad, desde 1992, como profesor emérito.
