Boy Scouts Visit CBOT Building™ GlenStar contributed to the growth of the Boy Scouts of America, Pathway to Adventure Council’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Program in August. The CBOT Building™ hosted 30 Scouts throughout the day who attended sessions run by building professionals on the topics of Electricity, Engineering and Search & Rescue. The Scouts learned about the different disciplines and heard from many professionals during their time with us. At the end of the day, each Scout completed the requirements needed to earn a merit badge for sessions they attended.

With the changes in the trading industry, the Pathway to Adventure Council teamed up with John Lothian to create a local STEM Program, properly named Trading Tech 300. The purpose of the program is to allow companies the opportunity to mentor kids and to teach them about the importance of STEM in a fun and engaging way. Leveraging the many disciplines and curriculum within the Merit Badge System, companies are able to provide a unique, hands-on learning experience for local youth. We, at the CBOT Building™ were very honored to be part of the success of Trading Tech 300 and enjoyed spending the day showing Boy Scouts how Engineering, Electricity and Search & Rescue are applied in an urban setting.

Additionally, the CBOT Building™ will once again be hosting the famous LaSalle Street Event this November 19th. This will be a special year for LaSalle as it will begin a new tradition of recognizing the participation of organizations that help to catapult this market’s STEM growth. We hope you will stop by the atrium and learn how Microsoft and the Center for the Advancement of Science in Space (CASIS), along with other Trading Tech 300 participating companies, are changing the way youth learn about STEM.
