Welfare Tech’s aim is to use this platform for business development in healthcare, homecare and social services. We contribute to developing, testing and implementing new products, which – when they succeed – obtain a “blue stamp” for sale on the Danish and global markets. We achieve this aim by creating active networks, dialogue between companies and links between companies and public sector stakeholders. Through Welfare Tech, member organisations gain contact to decision makers, leaders and specialists in the area. The intention is clear and unambiguous: To utilise built-in synergies to create new business opportunities with extensive user focus and involvement. Welfare Tech serves as the Danish entry point to a cooperation that helps you realise new welfare solutions. This is our focus. And it generates results. Denmark is known for its welfare system featuring highly educated personnel and well organised services for all citizens. Companies, hospitals and universities cooperate in the development of new methods and solutions for the automation of sterile centres and procedure packing at hospitals, thereby making cleaning and packaging of surgical instruments and equipment more efficient. The solutions are implemented at existing hospitals and the new super hospitals under construction in Denmark. The first elements of the solutions have been implemented and are the first of their kind in the world. When fully deployed at the approximately 30 public sterile centres in Denmark, they alone are expected to deliver savings of DKK 110 million annually (15 million EURO).

Business development “Denmark is the country that has made the greatest advancements in the digitalisation of hospitals, municipalities and medical practices. Therefore, it is also the easiest place to develop e-health and tele-medicine solutions involving all parties.”

Society will have an increasing population of citizens who require care while the share of working people is falling. This is the challenge around which we are building an industry! A market-driven cluster

Denmark has a long tradition of a good and extensive welfare system. The Danish system has prioritised an equal right to benefits for all. But this is exerting increasing pressure on the national economy as the group of senior citizens is growing larger than the working population. To address this development, politicians have decided that we must develop and make use of technological solutions to meet these increasing requirements and form the basis for a new area of business. Denmark possesses special strength in this field. We have a tradition of good welfare benefits. There are few hierarchies in Danish society. And we are good at composing new solutions from existing technologies. At Welfare Tech, we utilise these strengths to create new business opportunities by innovating and implementing new solutions. We do this through our large network and an approach that brings together talented healthcare professionals from a range of environments in fruitful collaborations. Did you know?

Patient@home is the largest research and innovation consortium in Denmark. With 29 companies, including 22 small and medium enterprises, and headed by University of Southern Denmark, Patient@home develops new welfare technology to improve the quality of life for patients and to make the public healthcare and service care more efficient. The solutions aim to ensure fewer and shorter hospital stays while improving the quality and use of resources in treatment. Patient@ home aims to do this with an approach that involves patients in their own treatment and rehabilitation.

The solutions are found in cross-disciplinary collaborations between personnel, patients, private companies and research institutions, which aim to develop new welfare technology products to improve rehabilitation and care of patients, and to increase the use of home- monitored treatment.

In autumn 2011, The Danish Council for Strategic Research and the Danish Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation granted Patient@home DKK 70 million (9.55 million EURO) under the strategic research and innovation platform, SPIR. This is the largest grant given to date, and it is further supplemented by co-financing that brings the total amount of the project to approximately DKK 190 million (26 million EURO). Results that count

Welfare Tech supports the practical implementation of your projects. Both in terms of funding and driving projects through the different phases, from project maturation and funding applications, to testing and implementation. These efforts produce results. Matchmaking

Welfare Tech helps you to find the right partners for idea development, testing and realisation of your project – whether you need one-on-one contact with relevant users and professionals, contact to suppliers with specific technologies, or identification of consortium partners that can enhance your strength in sales situations. The idea is that diversity is strength. The conditions for rapid innovation and business development are nurtured by incorporating various competencies and impressions into your process. However, it can be difficult to identify others with the competencies to strengthen your specific process at its current product stage, and it can be hard to find the right company or public sector partner. Welfare Tech possesses extensive domain knowledge that enables us to find the right partner to advance your project towards realisation.
