VIENNA, (24th May 2012). There is a new attraction for sports car enthusiasts in Vienna: McLaren Vienna opens its new showroom at MEGADENZEL in Erdberg on Thursday, 24 May 2012. In addition to the presentation of the first in a range of groundbreaking McLaren sports car - the McLaren MP4-12C - first customer vehicles are handed over to their new owners at the opening event. Furthermore, an original ™ vehicle driven by in 1982 will be on display, a reference to Austria’s long and glorious racing history with McLaren. The Denzel Group had been appointed to represent the brand in Austria in November 2011, when the MP4-12C was first introduced to Viennese customers at an exclusive viewing in Metastadt.

“As a traditional sports car competence centre DENZEL is looking forward to representing the new sports car brand McLaren, not only in Austria, but also in the neighbouring Eastern European countries”, says Alfred Stadler, Chief Executive Officer of the Wolfgang Denzel Auto AG.

“The new showroom is more than just the representation of a brand“, says Michael Röck, Managing Director of McLaren Vienna. “Customers will meet here to talk and exchange, but also to watch Formula 1 races live with members of the McLaren team. From here, we will organise trips and visit trackside events. At McLaren Vienna, showroom visitors as well as our customers can experience McLaren up close.”

With its numerous triumphs and Formula 1 world championship titles, McLaren became the epitome of technical perfection. Each of the 36 showrooms around the world houses a part of this unique history and presents visitors an original race car, which has crossed the finish line as a winner in at least one race.

The Formula 1 race car type MP4/1B will be on display at McLaren Vienna. McLaren triumphed with this car in the pinnacle of motorsport in 1982 and Niki Lauda celebrated many victories in the MP4/1B, before winning the world championship title for McLaren in 1984.

“It is truly special for our customers to see a real piece of motorsport history here”, says Röck. “It is extraordinary and fascinating to see an original race car and knowing that Niki Lauda once sat behind its steering wheel celebrating successes for McLaren. Our customers will be impressed that a piece of Austrian Formula 1 history will be in front of them.”

The newly built showroom is the perfect setting to experience McLaren. Apart from a first-class sales consultation, there will be a merchandise store and a dedicated After Sales area, which is just as innovative as the McLaren sports car itself: McLaren Vienna will have all spare parts of the MP4-12C available at any time. This concept is based on Formula 1 pit stops, which guarantee fast and efficient repairs – without unnecessary delays.

McLaren Automotive is an independent company, chaired by , and based at the McLaren Technology Centre, the McLaren Group’s headquarters in . McLaren Automotive has a rich and seamless heritage in producing premium sports cars for the road: the McLaren F1 road car, which was launched in 1992, set the world land speed record for a production car, and is regarded as one of the best examples of supercar exotica. The Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren is the most successful supercar ever in its price bracket, having sold twice as many cars as its nearest carbon-based rival.

McLaren Automotive is now launching a new car company through a global network of highly regarded premium car retailers who will sell a full range of McLaren high-performance sports cars built at an advanced new manufacturing facility, the McLaren Production Centre.

McLaren Automotive’s debut model is the MP4-12C. Drawing on the company’s long-standing Formula 1 experience in its concept and development, the 12C will be lighter, more powerful, more fuel efficient and more exclusive than its key competition. The 12C will be followed by a range of new McLaren models and derivatives all will be high performance, yet highly efficient and make the best use of Formula 1 technology and know-how.

It will achieve its performance benchmarks by introducing a unique one-piece moulded carbon chassis into the ‘core’ sports car segment using a new production method. All will be based on this innovative carbon technology; McLaren has not built a racing or road car on anything other than a carbon chassis in 30 years.
