If you’re looking for a great place to buy good Chinese takeout, then drive out to Chen Wok, located on the corner of 35th Ave. and Thunderbird. There are many different dishes to try at Chen Wok such as the sweet and sour chicken served on white rice and the almond chicken also served on white rice. The chicken is nice and moist and the sweet and sour sauce is not too bad either. There are also other menu items for those who do not like chicken or are just look- ing for something else to eat. There are entrees with beef, pork and duck for those who are in the mood for that. Another great thing about Chen Wok is the atmosphere. The minute you walk in it feels like you are really in China. They have booths and above the booths are these really cool Chinese like lights and you just really get a feel of China there. The employees are also friendly and eager to help. They helped me find things on the menu and suggested dishes off their menu that they believed were good. They suggested the sweet and sour chicken with white rice and it was just what I was craving. On top of the taste, Chen Wok gives good sized portions for their prices as well. After about halfway through the meal I was already full, so for a cheap price, you can have several great meals. The atmosphere just gives off an air that makes you want to go get some great Chi- nese food, and with these great prices, who wouldn’t? With $5.00 entrees and 99 cent drinks, there is no reason anyone would spend over $6.00 or $7.00 for a whole meal and let’s face it, with this economy, who wouldn’t want a quick cheap meal that tastes wonderful as well. There are many places where you can go to get a great tasting burger, but you’ll never find a place like this! Lenny’s Burger has been in business for nearly 20 years and the atmosphere there was very comfortable and friendly. It’s a great place for friends and family to enjoy a satisfying meal. Their menu varies from kid meals, hamburgers, hotdogs, salads and shakes. On the kids menu, the children get to choose between corn dog’s, turkey dogs or jr. burger com- bos. All burgers include lettuce, pickles, tomatoes and onions. On the side, customers can choose between chili fries, cheese fries, chili cheese fries, onion rings and zucchini. Lenny’s also carries healthy salads like garden salads, and grilled chicken and breaded chicken salads. Other items of specialty include B.L.T’s, chicken baskets, grilled chicken and Vienna beef hot dogs. The restaurant itself is not that big, but is it’s a small relaxed place. Inside, there is only a counter and some stools to sit on. On the other hand, outside there are shaded tables to enjoy the air outside. There is also a side room where you could throw a small birthday party and eat a great meal. When I first arrived at Lenny’s, I honestly thought that their food wasn’t going to be all that great. To my surprise, my meal was pretty tasty. I ordered a double combo for the low price of $7.00 and the meal came with a large drink, a juicy double meat hamburger and fries. My favorite part of the combo was the fries, they were delicious. In the end, I Lenny’s Burger give Lenny’s Burger Shop a two thumbs up. Entering the serene environment of Pizza by Napoli on 35th Ave. and Thunderbird, it seems as though you are not close to home. While waiting for my order one of the obvious things I noticed that the floors were swept, tables clean, and the crowd quiet, but being only the afternoon the quiet crowd could have only been temporary. With a quick glance, it is clearly identified that the owner is from out of state. A picture of New York, along with Italian décor, reminded one of something that may be seen in the Bronx. Never seeing the East Coast first hand, this may be a less expensive alternative than traveling. With an Italian accented cashier to add to the flare, they made sure to take care of each person by being kind. For only $1.99 plus tax you can enjoy a sample of the wonderful delicacies that they have to offer. The two types of pizzas offered are Napolitana and Siciliana. Napolitana is where the marinara sauce is made with fresh plum tomatoes grown in the groves of Napoli. Siciliana is when the sauce is made especially to resemble the taste of Sicily where all the ingredients of extra-virgin olive oil, dried oregano, minced onion, fresh rosemary, etc add the southern Italian experience. Ranging from pizza and subs to the pasta bowl everyone can get what they desire, and more. Some these choices include spaghetti, lasagna, baked ziti, and the classic chicken parmesan. And if one decides to have a sit down dinner, they all include free salad and bread. The house special lasts from 10:30-5:00 PM and includes two cheese pizzas and a 20 ounce drink for $3.50. As you order you have a choice of what type of pizza you want, but the con is it’s an added 50 cents for extra toppings. They include pepperoni, sausage, mushroom, green pepper, onion, and extra cheese. One of the items that would be worth trying is the ten inch submarine sandwiches that include the standard ham and cheese, meatball with sauce and cheese, and even a hoagie special. Getting over to this restaurant is not far and purchasing one during 10:30- Pizza by Napoli 5:00 PM, automatically allows a free drink. As you walk in the Mongolian BBQ by Metro Center Mall, there’s a frozen food buffet and a chef out in the open cooking, it’s pretty confusing at first, unless you’re a regular to the place. Since it was my first time, I really didn’t know what to expect, what kinda of food there was, or even what the restaurant looked like. The restaurant wasn’t too big, and it seemed like it might have been a good place for the family. There was one waiter and barely any people inside, so I didn’t know what to expect. Mongolian BBQ has been in business for quite a while and at first, I was excited to go. I had ordered a plate of orange chicken which comes with frozen yogurt, and a cup for a drink. They really didn’t have much of a selection of fountain drinks, so I got blue Powerade, and waited about 15 minutes until the small plate of food came. It was $ 8 and was most definitely not worth it. Unfortunately, our waiter wasn’t the greatest. My friend had ordered a plate of chicken and rice, and the chicken didn’t smell much like chicken at all. The whole plate of food smelled like wet dog, and tasted disgusting too. I disliked my dish very much, as well as my friend, so the waiter had muttered offering us another dish, which I denied. I just asked for my money back so we could leave the place, but she only deducted $3 from my check to cover the cost of my drink. I really didn’t want to argue with her, so I left with $5 instead of $8. Overall, Mongolian BBQ was definitely not worth the pay. The food and service was terrible. I definitely would not recommend this place to anyone who wants to go fine dining, or to eat Asian food. Mongolian BBQ Photo By: Amy Madanat
