Using normal XP expenditure rules, calculate how much EXP it would take to make that character. 2. For a custom character within a group of pre-made files, add up all the EXP spent by each character (either before or after the beginning of play) 3. Divide it by the number of players – this will give you your mean. 4. After applying the rule of 0 to the custom character, give them that much EXP to spend on making their character. Power set o Two powers of d10 – 40 EXP(10 for d8, 10 for d10 x2) o 3 sfx – 30 EXP (2 new Sfx =15 exp) o 2 Limits – 5 EXP (1 new limit=5 exp) Specialities o 3 at Expert – 15exp(2 free, one at expert purchased) Total =90 exp Keep in mind If somebody actually has less than rule 0 for in power sets or specialities a reduction in XP cost is applied. If a sheet says X+Y, X is the first and Y the second power set on the sheet respectively. This isn’t entirely indicative of effectiveness. These are just numbers. Means are rounded to nearest multiple of 5, with the actual number (0dp) in brackets. It’s hard to find groups of four with identical XP costs – a range of +-10 should suffice. -

Then we have Nightwatch, a was a dark time for the Republic. In short, it was...the bald-faced ripoff of Todd MacFarlane’s more ‘90s. The 1990s were an odd time for comic books. A successful Spawn. Next, we have Necromancer… the group of comic book artists, including the likes of Jim Dr. Strange of Counter-Earth. And best for last, Lee and hate-favorite Rob Liefield, splintered off from there’s Adam X the X-TREME! Oh dear Lord -- is there Marvel Comics to start their own little company called anything more 90s than this guy? With his backwards Image. INTRODUCTION Got demons? Well, you will if you pick up a copy of Fiendish Codex I: Hordes of the Abyss, which is packed full of information on demons and demon lords and how to use all this nastiness in your campaign. The chapter on demon lords mentions aspects of the demon lords as more common foes than the demon lords themselves, FIENDISH but few aspects are presented in the book since the ASPECTS designers put so many other useful things in that tome. Well, that is where this little guide comes in. In A Web Enhancement for Fiendish this combined edition of Fiendish Aspects, you’ll meet eleven aspects of demon lords, all suitable for mid- Codex I: Hordes of the Abyss level campaigns. Several of the demon lords could have aspects that are different than the ones you see here, because an aspect is one facet of a demon lord CREDITS rather than a lesser version of the whole package. O’Neill Professor Alan Tansman Professor Donna Jones Spring 2014 Abstract Representing the Gaichi in Japanese Detective Fiction by Aileen Marie Cruz Doctor of Philosophy in Japanese Language University of California, Berkeley Professor Daniel O’Neill, Chair This dissertation examines the relationship between Japanese detective fiction and the territories under Japanese colonial rule, areas such as the South Seas, Korea, and Manchuria known collectively as the “outer territories” (gaichi), during the early 1930s. It analyzes the works of three detective fiction writers: Yumeno Kyȗsaku (1898-1936), Oguri Mushitarȏ (1901-1946), and Kim Nae-Seong (1909-1957). The colonial settings of their works have various functions. In Kyȗsaku’s work, these are largely domesticated through the use of tropes and recognizable images. Through these tropes and images, he depicts colonial space as a site where community is lost, but can be recuperated through the violence of suicide. On the other hand, Oguri’s work depicts colonial space as completely unfamiliar, not only through the descriptions of a contaminating, foul landscape, but also by utilizing the conventions of a locked room mystery. In doing so, Oguri challenges the scientific conceit of this subgenre of detective fiction, a conceit also present in the story’s inclusion of eugenics discourses. Kim Nae-Seong’s detective fiction differs from those of Oguri and Kyȗsaku by eliding the otherness of the colonial landscape. -

COOK AND PROFESSOR THOMAS D. SEYMOUR — PREFACE The student who diligently peruses the lines of a great poem may go far toward a realization of its char- acter. He may appreciate, in a degree, its loveliness, strength, and direct hold upon the catholic truth of life. But he will be more sensitive to these appeals, and receive gifts that are richer and less perishable, accord- ing as he comprehends the forces by whose interaction the poem was produced. These are of two kinds the innate forces of the poet's character, and certain more external forces, such as, in the case of Milton, are represented by Hellenism and Hebraism. Their activ- ity is greatest where they meet and touch, and at this point their nature and measure are most easily dis- cerned. From a contemplation of the poem in its gene- sis one returns to a deeper understanding and enjoyment of it as a completed whole. The present study, though it deals with but one of the important cultural influ- ences affecting Milton, and with it but in part, endeav- ors by this method to deepen and clarify the apprecia- tion of his art and teaching. My interest in the present work has found support and encouragement in the opinions of Mr. Churton Collins, as expressed in his valuable book. -

ABSTRACT Title of Document: HENDRICK GOLTZIUS’S PROTEAN ICONOGRAPHY: 1582-1590 Matthew David Lincoln, Master of Arts, 2012 Directed By: Professor Arthur K. Wheelock, Jr., Department of Art History and Archaeology Karel van Mander famously characterized Goltzius as a “Proteus or Vertumnus of art”, a turn of phrase that has been taken to refer to his virtuosic skill at engraving in the styles of all the best masters. Often overlooked is the fact that Goltzius also conspicuously exercised his abilities as an iconographer in his early career as a print publisher. Between 1582, when he started his Haarlem print studio, and 1590, when he departed for Italy, Goltzius used classical rhetorical methods to construct innovative compositions. He thus promoted not only his skillful hand, but also his inventive and resourceful mind. This thesis considers Goltzius’s intellectual circles in Haarlem during this critical professional period, presents several case studies of his inventive iconographies, and concludes with two new interpretations of mythological artworks based on the artist’s rarely-acknowledged use of iconographic manuals and emblem books.
