The Kirkby Lonsdale Parking Group was formed in late 2013 and comprises local residents and representatives of the Town's businesses and schools, members of the Town Council and Chamber of Trade, and local and Councillors. The Group reports regularly to the Town Council and holds an Annual General Meeting (AGM). This year the AGM is to be held on 17 May at the Lunesdale Hall (in the Bective Room) starting at 7.00. All residents of the Town and any other interested parties are invited to attend. The AGM will include a report on the working of the Group Lune Walk 4UR Charity and progress to date, discussion about the future direc- tion of the Group and the appointment of members for The Rotary Club of Lunesdale—’Lune Walk 4UR the coming year. Coun Allan Muirhead, who put the idea of a trophy to this month’s town council meeting, said: ‘It’s fitting that Donald should be remembered in this way. Like many other ‘incomers,’ he took to the town, became involved in many ways, and will be remembered for his involve- ment in public affairs. ‘The council felt his name should be associated with a new trophy for the club, who have done so well this sea- son. The club nurtures young talent, which contributes to its success, so to have Donald’s name associated with encouraging young players is particularly gratifying.’
