Aims and objectives of the organization:- The purpose of District Police Solan is to uphold the law fairly and firmly; to prevent occurrence of crime to pursue and bring to justice those who break the law to keep the peace in partnership with the community; to protect, help and reassure the people. 2. Mission / Vision :-The mission of District Police Solan is to help the common man, to provide him security and to create a peaceful and law abiding community with his cooperation. Himachal Police is committed to uphold the rule of Law, to prevent crime and to maintain law and order. We are here to protect the weak, the under-privileged and to serve the people. In order to make Himachal Police people-friendly, to enhance the credibility of the police and to check corruption, transparency in the system is emphasized at all levels. 3. Brief History and background for its establishment: - Solan district came in existence on 03.09.1972. This district is situated in the Southern part of Himachal Pradesh and sharing the boarders with State of Haryana. The district is surrounding by district Sirmaur in the south, Bilaspur in the North, Shimla in the East and Kalka of Haryana in the south- west sides. Total area of the district is 1936 Sq. Kms. with a population of 339319 souls according to 2011 census. There are 03 Sub-Divisions in this district named Solan, Darlaghat and Parwanoo. This district having 08 Police Stations, 10 Police Posts and one Motor Barrier. a) Population:- The total population of this district as per census 2011 is 339319 souls which comprises of 128987 males and 108364 females. There are various communities residing in the district and they are living in harmony with each other. There is no any sort of communal tension prevailing in the District. 4. Structure of the department:- The District Police Headquarters is located in Solan city. The District Police is presently headed by Superintendent of Police, who is an IPS Officer, District Solan Police has a total strength of 630 (Gazetted Officers/6, Inspectors/5, Sub Inspectors/17, Assistant Sub Inspectors/103, Head Constables/103, Constables/460). This district is divided into 04 Revenue Sub-Divisions viz. Solan, Parwanoo, Kandaghat and Arki. There are 03 Assembly Constituencies viz. Kasauli, Arki and Solan in this district. The District comprises of 131 Panchayats, and 04 Nagar Panchayats. For the effective implementation of law and order in the District,8 Police Stations ,10 Police Post and one Traffic barrier functioning in this district A) Investigation:- Investigation according to Cr. Each District is functioning under the Supervision of Superintendent of Police. Each District is divided into Sub-divisions and Incharge of the Sub-division is an officer of the rank of the Deputy Superintendent of Police. The overall supervision of the Police Stations/Police posts in the District rests with respective Superintendent of Police. Prevention, investigation and detection of crime as also maintenance of law & order are the important functions of police. The officer Incharge of Police Station has to prevent & detect crime and maintain law & order within his jurisdiction. The Police Stations are manned by officers of the rank of Sub-Inspectors, Assistant Sub-Inspectors. Head Constables and Constables both in Law and Order duties as well as investigation and the Incharge of the Police Station is an officer of the rank of Inspector or Sub-Inspector. The job of Police officers includes:- 1. Registration of FIR/NCR. 2. Investigation of the cases, arrest of the accused, recovery of stolen property, challaning of the cases and prosecution. 3. Recording report regarding missing persons and children and tracing them. 4. Verification of servants/chowkidars and tenants and registration of security agencies. 5. Granting permission for loud-speakers, rallies, political/religious functions. 6. Checking of banks. 7. Providing documents for filing claim in Motor Accident Claim Tribunal. 8. Providing Guards for the transportation of cash, if required, as per police rules.

Abstract The paper discusses at length the provenance and the environments of sedimentation of the Cenozoic sediments exposed in the northwestern sector of the Himalayas. The results are based on detailed sedimentological (including mineralogical, petrographical and petrochemical) investigations of more than 8,000 representative samples. It is concluded that the detritus of the Cenozoic formations was derived mainly from metamorphosed rocks exposed in the adjacent Himalayan regions. A comparatively smaller proportion of the sediments was contributed by acid plutonic, volcanic and sedimentary rocks.

    India’s Police Complaints Authorities: A Broken System with Fundamental Flaws A Legal Analysis CHRI Briefing Paper September 2020 Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative The Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative (CHRI) is an independent, non-governmental, non- profit organisation headquartered in New Delhi, with offices in London, United Kingdom, and Accra, Ghana. Since 1987, it has worked for the practical realization of human rights through strategic advocacy and engagement as well as mobilization around these issues in Commonwealth countries. CHRI’s specialisation in the areas of Access to Justice (ATJ) and Access to Information (ATI) are widely known. The ATJ programme has focussed on Police and Prison Reforms, to reduce arbitrariness and ensure transparency while holding duty bearers to account. CHRI looks at policy interventions, including legal remedies, building civil society coalitions and engaging with stakeholders. The ATI looks at Right to Information (RTI) and Freedom of Information laws across geographies, provides specialised advice, sheds light on challenging issues, processes for widespread use of transparency laws and develops capacity. CHRI reviews pressures on freedom of expression and media rights while a focus on Small States seeks to bring civil society voices to bear on the UN Human Rights Council and the Commonwealth Secretariat. A growing area of work is SDG 8.7 where advocacy, research and mobilization is built on tackling Contemporary Forms of Slavery and human trafficking through the Commonwealth 8.7 Network. CHRI has special consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council and is accredited to the Commonwealth Secretariat. Recognised for its expertise by governments, oversight bodies and civil society, it is registered as a society in India, a trust in Ghana, and a public charity in the United Kingdom.

    Pt. Bansi Dhar Nehru Was Born in 1843 at Delhi

    The firm foundation of the Mughal empire in India was laid by a Uzbek Mongol warrior Zahiruddin Mohammand Babar, who was born in 1483 in a tiny village Andijan on the border of Uzbekistan and Krigistan after defeating the Sultan of Delhi Ibrahim Lodi in the battle of Panipat which took place in 1526, The Rajputs soon thereafter under the command of Rana Sanga challenged the authority of Babar, but were badly routed in the battle of Khanwa near Agra on 16th March, 1527. Babar with a big army then went upto Bihar to crush the revolt of Afgan chieftains and on the way his commander in chief Mir Baqi destroyed the ancient Ram Temple at Ayodhya and built a mosque at that spot in 1528. Babar than returned back to Agra where he died on 26th December 1530 dur t o injuries received in the battle with Afgans in 1529 at the Ghaghra’s is basin in Bihar. After Babar’s death his son Nasiruddin Humanyu ascended the throne, but he had to fight relentless battels with various rebellious chieftains for fight long years. The disgruntled Afghan chieftains found Sher Shah Suri as an able commander who defeated Humanyu in the battle of Chausa in Bihar and assumed power at Delhi in 1543. Sher Shah Suri died on 22nd May 1545 due to injuries suffered in a blast after which the Afghan power disintegrated. Hymanyu then taking full advantage of this fluid political situation again came back to India with reinforcements from Iran and reoccupied the throne at Delhi after defeating Adil Shah in the second battle of Panipat in 1555.

SINGH Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeobotany, 53, University Road, Lucknow-226007, India ABSTRACT The Palaeogene succession of Simla Hills consists of Subathu, Dagshai and Kasauli formations in ascending order of stratigraphy. The palynostratigraphical information developed from the marine sequence of Subathu sediments throws light on the dating potential of the assemblages and also on the distributional pattern of various palyno• morphs. Dependable palynological parameters in effecting correlation of various sections of the formation have been discussed. Reflections on the palynological spectra across the Subathu-Dagshai boundary and in the Kasauli Formation have been made.     GOVERNMENT OF HIMACHAL PRADESH OFFICE OF THE DEPUTY COMMISSIONER, CHAMBA, DISTRICT CHAMBA (Himachal Pradesh) No.CBA-DA-2(31)/2020-4910-25 Dated Chamba the 20th April, 2020 ORDER Whereas, the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs, in exercise of the powers conferred under section 10 (2) (l) of the Disaster Management Act 2005 has issued an order dated 14th April 2020, vide which the lockdown measures stipulated in the consolidated guidelines of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) for containment of COVID-19 epidemic in the country, will continue to remain in force up to 03rd of May 2020 to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the country. Whereas, vide notification number 40-3/2020-DM-l(A) dated 15th April, 2020 Government of India Ministry of Home Affairs, to mitigate hardship to the public, has allowed selective additional activities, which will come into effect from 20th April 2020. However, these additional activities will be operationalized by the States/ Union Territories/District Administrations based on strict compliance to the existing guidelines on lockdown measures. Whereas, in view of these directions given by the Government of India the District Magistrate, Chamba is duty bound for the strict compliance and implementation of consolidated revised guidelines, especially as given in National Directive at Annexure - 1 of these guidelines.
