This Victorian in origin, this generously proportioned 4 double bedroom home was tastefully impressive property stands amidst acres of undulating countryside whilst occupying an and skilfully renovated and enlarged some two decades ago making use of the same local elevated position allowing even greater enjoyment of the stunning views which encompass materials as were probably used in its original construction. this fine home. SOUTH HOO COTTAGE Pages.indd 3 03/07/2019 12:01 Seller Insight Originally standing as an 1880’s farm cottage, this detached property, which sits in a rural location South West of Kimbolton, has been extended to make a wonderful family home full of period charm and modern convenience. ‘When we bought the property we felt that we had been given stewardship of a small piece of English history and although it was in need of some tlc its potential was undeniable. So we completely stripped back and restored the original two-up two-down cottage and added a new wing to make a good-sized family home. For us it was important to ensure that the house was restored sympathetically and that the history of the house remained intact, so we retained the chimneys, fireplaces and exposed old beams and walls where possible and scoured salvage yards for the right materials to ensure the house looks old and feels settled in its surroundings. It’s been a journey, a labour of love, but is has been so rewarding.’ say owners Andrew and Sian. Nearby Kimbolton is a charming country town that received its charter to hold a weekly market and fair in the year 1200. At the centre of the town is Kimbolton Castle where Katherine of Aragon lived and which is now home to the Independent Kimbolton School. ‘The Castle’ hosts many events during the year, most notably the Country Fayre in July and the Fireworks display in November. ‘South Hoo Cottage’ is within catchment for the well- respected Sharnbrook Academy where Andrew & Sian’s children received an excellent education. Nearby St Neots offers many amenities, including a direct train to London taking just over an hour whilst the A14, M1 and A1 are within easy access. ‘Over the years we’ve enjoyed making the house and garden beautiful, always seeking to create a calm and relaxed haven from a busy world. Indeed, many of our friends have commented that “the house has a wonderful feel to it”, so I guess we’ve succeeded!’ ‘Every room is lovely, all with wonderful views of the countryside, however the spacious kitchen/family room is Sian’s favourite as it’s very much the heart of the home, whereas for Andrew his favourite is the lounge as it holds fond memories of many family Christmases spent in front of the log fire. ‘The garden is a great place to relax and has many different spaces to enjoy including a large deck where many long evenings have been spent with family and friends and there is also a very romantic spot at the end of a secret winding path through the copse where our son asked for his wife’s hand in marriage!’ ‘We’ve had several memorable parties to celebrate children’s birthdays, as well as a larger family celebration with a marquee on the lawn and a hog roast, which went on ‘til sunrise.’ ‘We’ll miss the tranquillity and freedom of living somewhere so quiet and without immediate neighbours – sitting out on a summer evening listening to music and chatting with friends. It’s been such a happy and safe place for us to raise our family’ and it’s been a privilege to create our dream home here. We hope the next owners love it as much as we do.’* * These comments are the personal views of the current owner and are included as an insight into life at the property. They have not been independently verified, should not be relied on without verification and do not necessarily reflect the views of the agent. SOUTH HOO COTTAGE Pages.indd 4 03/07/2019 12:01 The interior of the property has space in abundance, the elaborate reception hall could well be used as a dining hall such are its dimensions. Leading off the reception hall are a splendid sitting room and dining room with a study nearby. The kitchen and breakfast areas are superbly equipped with tasteful and highly specified fitted furniture, importantly so, as this is the hub of the home. Ascending to the first floor there are four double bedrooms, two of which benefit from en suite shower rooms. A family bathroom completes the internal accommodation. • Sharnbrook Academy Federation Consultation on Proposed Changes to Age-Ranges, Structures and Admissions
Dear Parents and Carers, Sharnbrook Academy Federation Consultation on proposed changes to age-ranges, structures and admissions Our last update on the structure of the Sharnbrook Academy Federation’s schools was in July. At that time we were looking to consult on change in the summer of 2015. Since then we have continued to work up the detail of these changes. We have also maintained a dialogue with Bedford Borough Council, our feeder lower schools and the St Albans Church of England Diocese. From all that we have heard, we have decided to bring our consultation forward, to shorten the period of uncertainty for parents and staff. We are now therefore publishing our Consultation document today and this can be accessed via the following link http://www.sharnbrook.beds.sch.uk/saf-governance/13589.html. Our proposal is as follows: That Harrold Priory Middle, Margaret Beaufort Middle and Sharnbrook Upper Schools should become a single school, based on the three existing sites, offering provision from age 9 (Year 5) to age 18/19 (Year 13) and that Lincroft School should extend its age-range to become an all-through secondary school offering provision from age 9 (Year 5) to age 16 (Year 11). The consultation will run until 12pm on 27 February 2015. You will have several opportunities in January to meet with us to hear more about our proposal for change. The consultation document is detailed but in summary: The proposal does not affect any lower schools and has the support of Bedford Borough Council Strong Key Stage 2 provision in Years 5 and 6 will continue By bringing Harrold Priory, Margaret Beaufort and Sharnbrook Upper School together and extending the age range at Lincroft, we can deliver a high quality Key Stage 3 curriculum and have Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 in one school.

  • Reflections & Prayers for Sunday 11 October 2020
Reflections & Prayers for Sunday 11th October 2020 This week we look at Stewardship. During lockdown, many have used their gifts, abilities, and talents God has given by sewing masks, scrubs, or doing shopping for those isolating – all ways of loving our neighbours. Today Tom Venner helps us look at loving God with our money. 1 Contents Reading for this Sunday p. 2 Reflection p. 3-5 Prayers p. 6-7 Parish Prayers p. 8-9 Gospel Reading Luke 18:18-30 A certain ruler asked him, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone. You know the commandments: ‘You shall not commit adultery; You shall not murder; You shall not steal; You shall not bear false witness; Honor your father and mother.’” He replied, “I have kept all these since my youth.” When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “There is still one thing lacking. Sell all that you own and distribute the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.” But when he heard this, he became sad; for he was very rich. Jesus looked at him and said, “How hard it is for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God! Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.” Those who heard it said, “Then who can be saved?” He replied, “What is impossible for mortals is possible for God.” Then Peter said, “Look, we have left our homes and followed you.” And he said to them, “Truly I tell you, there is no one who has left house or wife or brothers or parents or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God, who will not get back very much more in this age, and in the age to come eternal life.” 2 Reflection from Tom Venner It is commonly said that one should not speak of religion, politics or money in polite society, but in today’s Gospel Jesus is challenging us to think of all three.
