Get Wrapped up in Christmas Get wrapped up WEEK in Christmas. 3 Read: Luke 2:1-8 DAY 1 These eight verses in the book of Luke tell us one of the most amazing stories in history. On that night, over two thousand years ago, God’s Son came down to earth as a tiny, helpless baby. He wasn’t born into a wealthy family with lots of fame or power. The greatest gift the world has ever known arrived in the last place you would ever imagine: a stable surrounded by farm animals. What an entrance. What a gift. What a generous God! Do you know what a nativity is? It’s like a model of Jesus’ birth. Gather things you find around your home to create one of your own. You could use toilet or paper towel rolls or Popsicle sticks for the people. You could create a stable from a shoebox. Ask a parent to help you gather materials, along with some glue, scissors, paper and markers to begin building your own nativity. Remember, you need Mary, Joseph, baby Jesus in the manger, some animals, and a stable. Thank God for sending Jesus to earth the first Christmas. Read: Luke 2:8-12 DAY 2 Once Jesus was born, God made a BIG birth announcement. But this announcement was unlike any other! Can you imagine what it must have been like for those shepherds out in the field that night? What an incredible middle-of-the-night wake-up call! And though it might seem crazy to us, Jesus’ entrance into the world wasn’t without thought. God wanted the world to know that this gift, this precious, perfect gift, was for everyone—not just the rich, or well educated, or super popular people. That first, most important Christmas gift was for every single person so that everyone would know the love of their heavenly Father. It’s what Christmas is all about. That’s why He told the shepherds first. God sent this gift for everyone. Today, add some shepherds and sheep to your nativity scene. You can use the same materials you did yesterday to create a couple of shepherds. Then use paper to draw the outline of a sheep and glue on cotton balls for their wool! Ask God to help you remember what Christmas is really all about. ©2014 The reThink Group, Inc. All rights reserved. Get wrapped up WEEK in Christmas. 3 Read: 1 John 5:11 DAY 3 Why did God send Jesus to the earth that first Christmas? What was the real reason for His generosity? Because God loves us. And people who love, give. See, we aren’t perfect; we do things that are wrong; we sin. That sin separates us from God, and we can’t do enough good things to somehow make up for it. We can’t earn our way into a relationship with Him. So God sent Jesus as a baby, to grow on earth and show us what He is like. And then Jesus paid the ultimate price and took the punishment for our sin. Jesus died on the cross so that we could have a relationship with Him forever. What an amazing gift. Find two popsicle sticks or two small twigs from your yard and some yarn or twine. Create a cross shape by laying one popsicle stick on top of the other and wrapping the yarn/twine around the sticks to bind them together. Look for ways to tell others about the gift of Jesus this Christmas. Read: Titus 3:4-7 DAY 4 Somehow, Christmas has become all about getting instead of giving. It’s easy to forget about what God had in mind for celebrating Jesus’ birth: His amazing generosity to us! His only Son Jesus was the ultimate gift anyone could ask for. Jesus is the REAL reason we celebrate Christmas. It’s not bad at all to want some new Lego®s or a new doll or a cool iPod® touch to open on Christmas morning. It’s fun to give and receive gifts this time of year. But the problems start when the gifts become more important than the one most important gift—Jesus. Want to get wrapped up in the real meaning of Christmas? Then here’s a little challenge for you: be generous with your time! Choose one person in your family and do something FOR them. You could clean your sister’s room or sweep the kitchen floor or take out the garbage can loaded with all that wrapping paper. Choose to spend your time helping someone else just because it’s the generous thing to do. Know that God always sees when you are rich in good deeds. ©2014 The reThink Group, Inc. Southeastern Europe (Balkans) Albania Christmas (Krishtlindjet) on 25 December is a public holiday in Albania, a nation with significant Muslim and Christian populations, and is celebrated by both Orthodox and CatholicAlbanians. However, even some non-Christian Albanians celebrate them. The Albanian wish is "Gëzuar Krishtlindjet!". People go to church at midnight on 24 December, or during 25 December. The Christmas atmosphere is felt not only in the capital city, Tirana, but also in many other cities, for example in: Korça, Shkodra, Lezha, Durrës, Berat etc. The rituals and traditions are very similar to those practiced by the other European Christian nations. Romania and Moldova Main article: Christmas in Romania Christmas (Romanian: Crăciun) in Romania falls on December 25 and is generally considered the second most important religious Romanian holiday after Easter. In Moldova, although Christmas is celebrated on 25 December like in Romania, 7 January is also recognized as an official holiday in Moldova. Celebrations begin with the decoration of the Christmas tree during daytime on 24 December, and in the evening (Christmas Eve, in Romanian: Ajunul Crăciunului) Moş Crăciun (Father Christmas) delivers the presents. The singing of carols is a very important part of Romanian Christmas festivities. On the first day of Christmas, many carolers walk through the streets of the towns and villages, holding a star made of cardboard and paper on which are depicted various scenes from the Bible. Romanian tradition has the smallest children going from house to house, singing carols and reciting poems and legends during the whole Christmas season. The leader of the group carries with him a star made of wood, covered with metal foil and decorated with bells and coloured ribbons.

  • Christmas Music Already
1 Peter 4:7-11 Everything in the world is about to be wrapped up, so take nothing for granted. Stay wide-awake in prayer. Most of all, love each other as if your life depended on it. Love makes up for practically anything. Be quick to give a meal to the hungry, a bed to the homeless—cheerfully. Be generous with the different things God gave you, passing them around so all get in on it: if words, let it be God’s words; if help, let it be God’s hearty help. That way, God’s bright presence will be evident in everything through Jesus, and he’ll get all the credit as the One mighty in everything—encores to the end of time. Mondays are usually my day off, but he had the holiday for Veterans Day, and Ryleigh still had school. I consider it a parental win! Remember that I said this was Monday, November 11. Well I forgot that I had heard on the radio that Santa was due to arrive at the Short Pump mall the previous weekend.

  • 12 Days of Christmas
Advent & Christmas Devotional — The 12 Days of Christmas Candles of love to inspire all my living Reflect: The season of Christmas has begun. For each of these 12 days, write down one way you will show God’s world the love of Christ. Consider this the start of your 2021 spiritual resolutions to carry with you throughout the new year. Day 1 | Christmas Day, Friday, Dec. 25 A gift for God But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of any works of righteousness that we had done, but according to his mercy, through the water of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit. This Spirit he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. — Titus 3:4–7 A worship service on Christmas morning was not a tradition in the little rural church I served, but one year I decided to offer such a service. The turnout was small. The worship was casual. “Make sure to bring the cookies that Santa didn’t finish,” I told the children beforehand. Truth be told, I didn’t have time to bake, and I was on the search for some homemade goodies. Snow was gently falling as we gathered in the fellowship hall around the Christmas tree. We sang our favorite carols and did a candy cane prayer of praise, where I invited the person holding the piece of candy to say what they were grateful for.

  • Christmas Poem Gift Pass
‘ Twas the Night Right Before Christmas A Christmas Gift Pass Activity Adapted from the poem by Clement Clarke Moore ‘Twas the night right before Christmas, And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof when all through the house The prancing and pawing of eachright and left hoof. Not a creature was left stirring, not even a mouse. As I drew in my head, and was turning around, The stockings were left by the chimney with care, Down the chimney St Nicholas came with a bound. In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there. He was dressed all in fur, right from his head to his foot, The children were nestled right snug in their beds, And his clothes were left tarnished with ashes and soot. While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads. A bundle of Toys he had flung on his back, And mamma in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap, And he looked like a peddler, just opening his pack. Had just settled right down for a long winter’s nap. His eyes—how they twinkled! his dimples how merry! When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter, His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry! I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter. His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow, Right to the window I flew like a flash, And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow. Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash. The stump of a pipe he held right in his teeth, The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath.

These events center around the figure of the Krampus, a beast-like, punishing “devil” that accompanies St. Nicholas on December 5, the eve of his feast day. By 2010, groups of people in US cities were staging their own Krampusnacht processions in downtown areas, referencing the European enactments while simultaneously innovating their embodiments to meaningfully interact with the Christmas season in the United States. Participation in these events increases annually and the Krampus figure’s presence online and in popular media is on the rise.
