Kleefstra Almanak 2013 2 Inleiding Het Nederlandse cricket archief is uniek. Nergens in de wereld is een zo compleet archief beschikbaar van alle niveaus. Maar hoe compleet is het werkelijk? Jaarlijks komen er nog nieuwe gaten bij. Ook dit jaar weer niet of half ingevulde scorecards. Of het invullen van geregistreerde leden wanneer invallers hebben meegedaan. Zou het ooit anders worden? Wat houdt verenigingen tegen om scorecards goed in te vullen? Ik hou het op desinteresse en luiheid. En zolang de wedstrijdpunten er niet afhankelijk van zijn, is goed invullen misschien ook niet belangrijk genoeg. Ik heb geen percentages, maar het grootste deel is natuurlijk prima ingevuld. Het is alleen die kleine minderheid die de grootste hoeveelheid werk veroorzaakt voor het naspeuren van de verbeteringen. Niettemin is het ook dit jaar weer gelukt de fouten uit alle cijfers te halen, ze bij elkaar te zetten en deze almanak te produceren. Dat daarin de cijfers van CC Friesland, Pakistan CC, Kampong 2, Kampong Z1, VOC 3, VOC Zami en WC Rhoon ontbreken is jammer. We hadden het graag anders gezien, want hoe meer cijfers hoe beter. Nieuwe ronde nieuwe kansen voor verbetering volgend jaar. We zullen zien of het lukt. Alex Matthijssen Kleefstra Almanak 2013 3 Kleefstra Almanak 2013 4 Preface It is a great honor and privilege to be asked to pen a few lines for the 2013 Kleefstra in what is the 130th year of KNCB Cricket. Many people involved in the game will be aware that numbers & statistics are the joy of every cricketer…….. With an outstanding batting display recently Dutch international Wesley Barresi ensured the Dutch men’s team qualified for the ICC Twenty20 World Cup in 2014. He scored an unbeaten 75 runs in the deciding match versus Scotland; now who won’t remember that by the end of the year? This achievement occurred only slightly just over a week ago, yet will we still remember what happened to Barresi in the first two matches of the qualifying tournament in the UAE? Some of you might, most probably don’t – let me refresh your memory; he was out first ball against both Afghanistan and Papua New Guinea. Wesley himself will quite likely forget none of these batting innings, but we will surely always remember him for the result in the decider versus Scotland. Likewise Eric Szwarczynski's 99 v South Africa at the ABN AMRO International Cricket Centre will be recalled in many folklore stories in years to come not just for the score which in itself is significant, but the tragic way in which he was dismissed with the bowlers flick-on run out when he was just short of his ground when backing up. The game loves statistics and statisticians love the game. Now, they weren’t the only one’s experiencing achievements in the past season. In 2013 we had about 5400 registered cricketers in The Netherlands playing cricket. And they all remember their highs and lows during the summer months. For 83 years, all the facts & figures at all levels of cricket, from the National men’s team to the Zomi 4e klasse have been maintained in the everlasting Kleefstra Almanak. Let me just tell you that a certain Srinivas Rudrabhatta from Qui Vive 6 (yes, they fielded six teams this year) hit an unbeaten 173 in 2013 playing Ghausia CC whilst Ramnarine Karan (Dosti CC) has now scored over 70 centuries in all cricket. Truly wonderful feats. Rudrabhatta’s individual score was only surpassed by arguably more well known Netherlands alumni such as Ben Cooper (VRA - 202 v Hermes in 132 balls) and Wesley Barresi (Quick Haag - 185 v Dosti) plus of course the age-less Helmien Rambaldo from Quick Haag, who smashed a double century with 215 runs in the Women’s hoofdklasse. Now, a double century might take a few hours to get, but to get the Kleefstra ready in time for the autumn ALV is a challenge, each and every year. It has taken the people who collect all the information through the Jaarstaten sent to them by the clubs, backed up by the correctly filled out score sheets in e-cricket, more than a couple of hours to find their way through all the data. A couple of months are more likely. Yet again, they’ve come up with all the facts & figures again – how do they do it? Just one meeting in which they agree to a certain schedule and how they will go about it, together with KNCB office support about missing information, gathering all the data in an organized way so we can again enjoy reading the Kleefstra Almanak. Please give them a hand as you settle back on the sofa and into the long winter nights to learn more or re-live some very happy memories of the 130th year of Netherlands Cricket – what a year! Richard Cox December 2013 Kleefstra Almanak 2013 5 CORRECTIES 2012 Bij de publicatie van de Kleefstra Almanak 2012 liep er nog een beroepsprocedure inzake de wedstrijd Wanica Star - Punjab CCR 3 in de Tweede Klasse A. De Commissie van Beroep heeft in haar uitspraak CvB-06-2012 de uitspraak van de Tuchtcommissie (TC-07-2012) bekrachtigd. Het kampioenschap en de promotie van Wanica Star zijn daardoor definitief geworden. In de gedrukte versie van de Kleefstra Almanak zijn de laatste 2 pagina's niet afgedrukt. Deze zullen opnieuw gepubliceerd worden. Bij de umpires ontbrak een voetnoot bij de cijfers van Bart Hartong. Zijn vermelding in 2012 betrof een correctie van eerder niet meegetelde internationale wedstrijden. Bart Hartong heeft wegens ziekte zijn carriere in 2011 moeten beëindigen met 319 nationale en internationale wedstrijden op zijn palmares. In fase 2 speelden de bovenste 4 en de onderste 5 onderling nog 1 maal tegen elkaar. De behaalde punten in fase 1 werden meegenomen naar fase 2.     Robert-Jan van Pelt Mens en kosmos in Huygens' Hofwijck* Inleiding Constantijn Huygens was een van de opmerkelijkste Nederlanders van de zeventiende eeuw. Als secretaris van stadhouder Frederik Hendrik gaf hij mede vorm aan de politiek van Holland in de Gouden Eeuw, als dichter leverde hij een belangrijke bijdrage aan de Nederlandse literatuur, als edelman virtuoso vervulde Huygens, heer van Zuylichem, een sleutelrol in de culturele contacten tussen Holland, Engeland en Frankrijk, en als vader bracht hij een zoon groot die door intellect en opvoeding was voorbeschikt een van de grootste geleerden van zijn tijd te worden. In dit essay zal een ander 'kind' van Huygens onder de loep worden genomen. Dit 'kind' is de tuin van Huygens' buitenhuis Hofwijck, dat is gelegen in de buurt van Voorburg (Zuid-Holland). Huidige plattegrond van Hofwijck Hofwijck zal worden besproken als een evenbeeld van Huygens: met hem ouder wordend en, hoewel door onbegrip verminkt, tot in onze tijd voortlevend.     KONINKLIJKE NEDERLANDSE VOETBALBOND Amateurvoetbal Opleidingsvergoedingen nationaal De KNVB heeft over diverse spelers de mededeling ontvangen dat zij voor de eerste maal een spelerscontract hebben getekend bij een club in Nederland dan wel dat zij zijn uitgekomen in vijf bindende wedstrijden van het eerste elftal van een betaaldvoetbalorganisatie, voor het einde van het seizoen waarin deze spelers de leeftijd van 22 jaar hebben bereikt. Voor de complete regeling omtrent de opleidingsvergoedingen, wordt verwezen naar het Reglement Overschrijvingsbepalingen Algemeen, Opleidingsvergoeding en Solidariteitsbijdrage in de reglementenbundel van de bondsvergadering in de online bibliotheek. Via dit reglement kan nagegaan worden of betaling van een opleidingsvergoeding van toepassing is. Voor de spelers die bij een amateurvereniging een contract hebben getekend, kan via het Uitvoerings-/wijzigingsbesluit – Topklasse en contractspelers in het amateurvoetbal nagegaan worden of betaling van een opleidingsvergoeding van toepassing is. Als dat het geval is, kan contact opgenomen worden met de betreffende club. Voor zover bekend bij de KNVB, is ook de naam van de vereniging, waarvoor de speler gespeeld heeft voor zijn overgang naar de betreffende club, in deze lijst toegevoegd. Kleefstra Almanak 2011 2 Inleiding Dit is voor mij altijd het mooiste moment van het cricketseizoen: de gereedmelding van de Kleefstra Almanak. Het is weer gelukt om het cijferwerk op de najaarsvergadering van de KNCB te kunnen presenteren. Vorig jaar was de Kleefstra Almanak onderdeel van het Cricket Jaarboek 2010. Een prachtig initiatief en een podium dat het cricket in Nederland verdient.

The decline had perhaps begun as early as the 1999 World Cup final, and peaked during the 2003 World Cup tournament and it became more obvious in the aftermath of the twin series defeats against India at home in early 2004. The services of Bob Woolmer as coach were acquired by the Pakistan Cricket Board in an effort to ensure that the team came up with improved performance and did justice with the loads of talent. The move has paid dividends.
