Music Ministries Unit Newsletter APRIL 2012 Territorial Music Director Dr Stephen Cobb refl ects on this year’s course.

From a Music Ministries Unit perspective, 2012 was a special year in the life of the Territorial Youth Band & Choir. My view is that the social engagement between the two groups Pictures from TYB / TYC 2012 was excellent. We had opportunity during the week to meet socially at the Carrington House Hotel where we enjoyed fellowship and pizza together. This heightened the levels of communication between the two courses throughout the week and this became evident in Friday evening’s concert.

Our purpose for the week is to develop spiritual awareness, leadership skills and musical gifts in the lives of the students who attend. The expectation of musical standards are high and for many attendees, new heights of musical excellence were reached.

This year’s study at both courses was based on Romans 12 (Changed from the inside-out) and was led by Majors Mark and Andrea Sawyer (TYC) and Major Denise Cooper (TYB), who made the study relevant to the lives of the students and related it to the music we were playing and singing throughout the week.

Both courses continue to be over-subscribed and there is a real desire to give as many of our young people as possible the opportunity to share in this week.

Those of us in a leadership role hope and pray that the week makes a difference in the lives of the young people and that they in turn, can make a difference in their local corps setting from week to week.
