2014 HONORARY BAT GIRL CONTEST ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS! Carol Wells I've known Carol Wells since Kindergarten. In those 45 years, Carol has remained high on my list as one of the kindest, most thoughul and faithful persons I've ever known. As such it was with great sadness when I learned of her bale with breast cancer, but no surprise to hear how, along with her great faith and posive outlook, was commied to winning her bale and so far has done so. Through her own bale, she devotes herself to other causes, walking, fund raising etc. through various events and organizaons (one of which is pictured below). Along the way remained a happy and posive woman and commied to her 3 children and husband of 30 years and lengthy career with a local school district. 2 causes hit close to home, one twice. Her oldest son Patrick and youngest son Travis - both were diagnosed with have Juvenile Diabetes and most recently her brother Milton has been in his own bale with Lou Gehrig's disease. For yrs has supported the JDR Foundaon and now the ALS Foundaon. Her brother Milton qualies and equally touching story mirror Carols Her son Patrick is grown and Travis just made his Jr. High baseball team. If you choose Carol, gratefully ask if Travis and Milton could accompany her to the mound. I would gladly pay for the addional 2 ckets. There is so much more I can write about Carol and but in short - to know Carol is to love her. My thoughts and are shared by thousands more and the lives of those she has touched. -

A's News Clips, Monday, May 9, 2011 A's Tyson Ross Finally
A’s News Clips, Monday, May 9, 2011 A's Tyson Ross finally rewarded for another strong start By Joe Stiglich [email protected] KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Tyson Ross was tossing his 6-foot-6 frame all over the Kauffman Stadium infield on Sunday. It was a more active day than usual defensively for the A's young right-hander. But his stellar pitching is starting to look routine. Ross held the Royals to two runs over six innings, and Oakland jumped ahead early and kept building on its lead in a 5-2 victory over the Kansas City Royals. Making his fourth start in place of the injured Dallas Braden, Ross, 24, continued rounding into form as a major league starter. He has allowed a combined three earned runs over his past three outings, though Sunday was the first time in that span he was rewarded with a victory. "He's attacking the zone and getting ahead in counts," A's catcher Kurt Suzuki said. "When he's doing that, his stuff is comparable to anyone else in the rotation." The A's ebb-and-flow season rolls on. They took two of three from the Royals and moved one game above .500 for the fifth time. They have yet to reach two games above .500 and will try to sustain some momentum when they begin a three-game series Monday against the Texas Rangers in Arlington. They're tied for second place with Texas at 18-17, two games behind the Los Angeles Angels. Some heady defensive plays helped the A's, including one wacky sequence starring Ross (2-2) in the second inning. -
MLB Baseball Weekly --- Friday, May 19Th, 2006 by MATTHEW HATFIELD
MLB Baseball Weekly --- Friday, May 19th, 2006 BY MATTHEW HATFIELD Interleague play starts today and there’s nothing like it in Major League Baseball for the fans. The rivalries, particularly the one’s in New York between the Mets and Yankees, and in Chicago between the Cubs and White Sox, captivates us. Even the west coast battles between the LA teams – Angels and Dodgers – as well as the A’s and Giants should be rather intriguing. This year marks the 10th season for Interleague play, and amazingly, the National League holds just an eight-win advantage of the American League all-time. That’s competitive for you. Strap in and hold tight, because a few teams’ season could be made or broken this weekend vs. foe from the ‘other’ league…… A Look Back At The Week That Was: *** On Saturday, following a four-hit game from the night before, Padres catcher Mike Piazza did it to the Cubs again. His game-winning three-run jack to left in the top of the ninth broke a string of 26 consecutive saves dating back to last July for closer Ryan Dempster. San Diego has been doing it with improved defense in the field, sharp pitching and timely hits when they’ve needed them most from guys like Brian Giles, Khalil Greene, Dave Roberts and even Piazza. The next day Giles tied the modern record walks in a nine inning game (five) as the Chicago was not only shutout, but swept. St. Louis’ Albert Pujols drilled home run #19 on the season, and late that night, Seattle’s Richie Sexson finally got back on track with a game-winning homer to defeat the Angels in the 13th.
